‘Fight Night Round 4’ is the champion of the All Formats Chart for a second week as another EA Sports title ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10’ fails to land the knockout blow, debuting at No2.

There are now 5 EA Sports games in the All Formats Top 20 covering boxing, golf, tennis, fitness and football. However, it is ‘Fight Night Round 4’ which is proving by far the most popular and despite a 35% drop in sales it still manages to outsell Tiger Woods (new this week on PS3, XB360, Wii MotionPlus, PSP and PS2) by 1.64 to 1. Activision’s ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ (+30%) shifts up from No6 to No3 in its second week of release, ahead of ‘Wii Fit’ (-2%) and ‘UFC 2009: Undisputed’ (-3%) both non-movers at No’s 4 and 5 respectively. There are a total of 3 new games in the All Formats Top 10 with Ubisoft’s ‘Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood’ riding into town at No6 and ‘EA’s ‘Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince’ conjuring up a modest debut at No10. ‘The Sims 3’ (-21%) falls 4 places to No7, while another previous All Formats No1, Activision’s ‘Prototype’ (-34%) also drops, slipping 6 places to No8.

As Wimbledon draws to a close Sega’s ‘Virtua Tennis 2009’ (+8%) remains in the Top 10 at No9, while competitor ‘Grand Slam Tennis’ (+6%) from EA, holds on to No11.

360 FNR4 holding 1st spot.
PS3 FNR4 down to 3rd beaten by Wii Fit at 2nd place (wtf)

PS3 versions of Call of Juarez and Tiger Woods selling better than 360 ones. The former by quite a margin. So odd I wonder if that's a typo.

Good to see Grand Slam in the UK and French top 5: it's the best motion game ever released, what I always expected from a wii game.

Wii Fit, Wii Play and Mario Kart Wii are the UK's best selling games of 2009 so far, according to GfK Chart-Track figures distributed by ELSPA.

With combined sales of 1.65 million units, the three titles make up 72 per cent of the sales volume of the top five best sellers. They're followed by Professor Layton and the Curious Village at number four, and the Sony first party title Killzone 2 at number five.

…

Dr Kawashima sits at number seven in the chart and this year's sales now make it the most popular game in the UK ever, having sold over three million units.

…

The full chart of UK best-selling software for the first half of 2009 follows.

01 Wii Fit
02 Wii Play
03 Mario Kart Wii
04 Professor Layton and the Curious Village
05 Killzone 2
06 Resident Evil 5
07 Dr Kawashima's Brain Training
08 The Sims 3
09 Call of Duty: World At War
10 Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games

Killzone 2 at 5th is unexpected. I assumed RE5 sold more as it is a multiplatform title.

I make it 642k for Layton and Killzone2 combined if 1.65 accounts for 72% of the top 5, but my maths could (is likely to) be faulty.

(1.65/0.72) - 1.65.

That's right, makes me wish we got more PAL region numbers.

The difference between the 11th place and the 15th place might be only a few thousands units or so. Bttb posted some monthly numbers for the UK market about 2 weeks ago:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=365258

In April 2009, the 10th most sold game was the PS3 version of The Godfather 2 with 33,000 units sold in 1 month. If the tracking period were 4 weeks, that is an average of 8250 copies sold each week.

It depends on how slow weeks of sale it is, but if this week was something close to the Godfather II example i mentioned above here, then there might only be a few thousands units different in sales between the 11th place and the 15th place in the UK charts for this week. It is just my guess though, it is unfortunately hard to say for sure without any sales data :\

But ye, it is definitly not common that the PS3 version outsells the Xbox 360 version of a multiplatform in the first week, and especially with about 4 places in the chart. Usually when the PS3 version outsells the Xbox 360 version of a multiplatform in the first week, i think that it is usually only by 1-2 places in the charts. So i agree that it can look odd when there are 4 places between the PS3 version and the Xbox 360 version in the UK Chart this week for Call of Juarez :) I would guess that in the next week's chart that the Xbox 360 versjon Call of Juarez will chart higher than the PS3 version, but who knows :)

Agreed, nice to see that its paying off for them somewhat. Wonder if it will drop now that Wimbledon is over, of if it will stay up there since the US Open is in 1 1/2 months.

It's pretty surprising that Tiger Woods on Wii debuts much lower than the PS3/360 games.
I expect the Wii game to be up next week, but the fact that it started out smaller, even with the Motion+ bundle just seems weird.

Virtua Tennis is also lower on Wii, but given the competition from Grand Slam Tennis, it's not too surprising.

Didnt the UK get Grand Slam Tennis as a bundle and the US got Tiger Woods as a bundle

I find Juarez sales in favor of the PS3 version very surprising, even if it's not by many units. The first game was only out on 360 for consoles after all.
Tiger Woods Wii is also surprising, maybe it is released too close to Grand Slam Tennis which a lot of people have bought recently.

I posted this in last weeks thread when these numbers were released earlier but might as well reproduce here:

The Wii version of Tiger Woods has traditionally debuted with the lowest opening week sales:

2008 (behind 360 and PS3):

2007 (behind 360, no PS3 version on chart - probably hadn't sold through enough consoles by then)

As a reminder, the weighting value per position comes from the Famitsu Top 30 charts from Summer 2007. I should probably update the weights based on more recent Famitsu numbers (i.e. the only other weekly source that has close to 40 numbers), but here's what the current weightings show. Also as a reminder, this is not expected to be precise, but rather just better than using the # of entries in the Top 40 and assuming them all to be equal worth.

360 has really taken the lead over Wii in the last 1-2 months.

It's probably a slow week anyway, but it's still nice to see Monster Hunter defending its position. The TVCMs really paid off.
I wonder if Capcom advertised the game the same in other countrys, where it doesn't seem to be as popular.

Isn't the Pokemon company owned by Nintendo?

I think they have a controlling stake or something, and it's usually most practical to consider the Pokemon Co. as a part of Nintendo. However if you want to get picky, Pokemon Co. is a separate company from Nintendo.

I expect Rhythm Paradise will shoot back up again this week as Nintendo have a brand new ad campaign running... seem to better put across what the game is about too.

I would not be shocked with top 10

New UK charts:

http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&ct=110032

The EA Sports heavyweight one-two is reversed this week as ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10’ (-1%) clinches No1 and ‘Fight Night Round 4’ (-45%) settles in to 2nd place after 2 rounds at No1.

Activision Blizzard’s ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ (-2%) remains at No3 but EA are breathing down Activision’s neck with ‘Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince’ at No4 (+71%) looking to make it an EA top 3 as the film nears launch. Ubisoft climb one place to No5 with ‘Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood’ (+10%) and Nintendo drop two places to No6 with ‘Wii Fit’ (-8%). Sega’s ‘Virtua Tennis 2009’ seems to have enjoyed Wimbledon, having spent the last 4 weeks within the top 10 and this week reaching an All Format high at No7 (+12%). EA’s ‘The Sims 3’ (-21%) is down one place to No8 and Activision Blizzard re-enter the Top 10 this week with ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’ (+10%).

Activision also take No10 with the No1 title from 4 weeks ago – ‘Prototype’ (-32%). Sony’s PSP ‘Buzz! Master Quiz’ is a huge re-entry at No27 thanks to price promotion and Sega have the highest new entry at No29 with sci-fi shooter ‘The Conduit’ for Wii.

Tiger Woods Wii rising up - no suprises there.

Ouch for the conduit. I don't think Sega are advertising it much here. Not seen any ads?

Nothing at all on the more mainstream channels. That doesn't mean it hasn't been advertised on some of the smaller digi channels, but I don't think there's been anything on the scale of the ad run for MadWorld. Not sure about print ads or other forms of advertising.

I think it's possible it will see the usual second week bump, but it's not done too well so far.

The other interesting point is the absence from the charts of any PlayStation version of Harry Potter, in spite of the relatively heavy ad push that was pretty obviously paid for by Sony (no mention of any other versions but the PS2/PS3/PSP, big PlayStation logo at the end etc.)

:lol good point, although the 360 version only just made it onto the charts.
I'm tempted to say something, but I don't want to start another commotion that ends in people arguing that children weren't the Ratatouille game's target market.

A 2nd week didnt happend to Madworld though, so i dont know how big of a chance there is that The Conduit will get a 2nd week bump (at least within the UK Top 40 Chart, maybe it will get a bump within the Wii chart) :( But ye, a 2nd week is possible, and i hope that The Conduit gets a sales bump :)

Ye, that is a good point. I also think that it is a bit interesting that no version of this Harry Potter game charted within the UK Top 40 Chart last week when the game was released. I would almost think that at least one version of the would make it within the UK Top 40 charts last week, but at least the Xbox 360 version made it to the 40th place in this week's UK Top 40 chart :) I guess that this Harry Potter game could be a slow burner game. How did the previous Harry Potter games sell by the way, does anyone know?

EDIT: I just checked the ELSPA Sales Awards lists and i see that 3 Harry Potter games (the PS2 version on all 3 of them) made it to Platinum (at least 300k copies sold) status. Unfortunately i have no idea how long it took for these 3 Harry Potter games to reach at least 300k copies sold though :\

Really? I've only seen the PS Family one - and that several times over the past few days. IIRC, RE5 had ads for both the 360 and PS3 versions but I don't recall many other multiplat titles with several ad variants.

The Conduit has been panned or branded mediocre at best by most reputable review outlets, so it's not surprising that it's performing poorly - If you want that sort of game to sell on Wii, you'd better make sure it's fantastic as it's not going to sell to the casuals. As it is, it faces the fate of myriad sub-par PS2 first person shooters which barely scrapped the top 40.

Well The Conduit is #8 on the Wii only chart, numbers 1-7 are pretty much the powerhouse titles (Tiger Woods, Grand Slam Tennis, Mario Kart, EA Active). Wonder what the expectation was for SEGA?

Tiger Woods also rose up over the 360 in Week 2 as expected, will be interesting to see if Grand Slam Tennis sticks around now that Wimbeldon is over.

I agree - the delay really hurt the game badly in Europe. Had it launched with the US version there wouldn't have been that many reviews out already. It would be easier to dismiss one or two reviews that don't make it sound all that great. I planned to get the game, but pretty much everybody says the single player campaign is a bit lackluster, and that's where it would have needed to deliver for me to spend my money.

i've seen a lot more of the playstation ads especially at first but since then there was both a ds one then as i said a wii one, it seems a bit weird to me especially for a game aimed at the sort of audience harry potter is, would be far more effective to just advertise all versions at once
