PAL Charts - Week 46, 2016

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
PS4 had great deals on Amazon : U4 bundle for 199 £, Cod bundle for 199£ and mega pack bundle ( U4 DC R&C ) for 239 /249£.

That's probably the main reason DC and R&C sales were so up.
I'd love to know if PS4 sales are up, steady or down overall for the month of November, given such a huge BF, to see if there are changes in the sales distribution between pre-BF and post-BF, even if Pro's release earlier in the month could represent an "anomaly" compared to past Novembers.

Sounds like Pokemon did very well as expected. Finally a success.

What fate lies with FFXV.

Yeah, GFK calls its debut as "record breaking". ...But damn it, no % increases = no baseline for Pokemon :( Hopefully something leaks, one way or another.

The biggest week of the year and we get a lame brief PR note without reporting the weekly percentage change for any game, no market data or more detailed info for Pokémon Sun / Moon launch.

Yep it's a huge bummer especially as they go out of their way to say the entire Top 40 saw huge gains. It would be really interesting to see how much ground software was able to make up over the recent disappointing sales.

Yes, so disappointed by that. Hopefully, Christopher Dring (I think he posted some hardware numbers recently at Gameindustry.biz, correct me if I'm wrong) will bring us some go- well, something!

He is our last chance to be able to keep tracking some games since in his weekly UK sales reports he usually publishes extra info. The other media outlets just report the public GfK Chart-Track data.

UKIE didn't include the weekly percentage change for any game either.

Well, we have a possible baseline now, at least: Tom Phillips (Eurogamer) just tweeted that Sun and Moon had the biggest launch ever for a Nintendo game in UK, higher than any Wii game.

If I'm not wrong, the biggest launch of any Nintendo published title is for Wii Fit with 215,000 units sold.

[Week 17, 2008] 01 (NE) WII FIT (NINTENDO) - 215,000 / NEW

Well, damn.
If we assume an even split between the two versions, we could say there are high chances both COD and FIFA sold over 100k this week, correct?

EDIT: Actually, from Tom Phillips again

Hard to put into perspective - Pokémon Sun and Moon managed in one day what Wii Fit sold in two weeks.

What was Wii Fit's LTD after the first two weeks?

What was Wii Fit's LTD after the first two weeks?

Black Friday 2015 (Week 48)

01 (04) FIFA 16 (ELECTRONIC ARTS) - 253,800 / 1,866,600 (+254%)
02 (02) CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS III (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) - 200,700 / 1,245,200 (+47%)

Wii Fit sold 305,000 units in its first 2 weeks.

Watch Dogs 2 sales increased by five per cent in its second week. And that's all we have, it sucks not to have Fifa 17 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare weekly percentage change.

Also, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has already overtaken Battlefield 1 as best-selling shooter of the year.

Just out of interest, what's the best debut a game has had this year?

UK 2016 > 100,000 Week One Sellers

[Week 39, 2016] FIFA 17 (ELECTRONIC ARTS) - 1,108,000 / NEW
[Week 44, 2016] CALL OF DUTY: INFINITE WARFARE (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) - 328,000 / NEW
[Week 10, 2016] TOM CLANCY'S THE DIVISION (UBISOFT) - 277,000 / NEW
[Week 42, 2016] BATTLEFIELD 1 (ELECTRONIC ARTS) - 259,000 / NEW
[Week 19, 2016] UNCHARTED 4: A THIEF'S END (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) - 193,000 / NEW
[Week 40, 2016] MAFIA III (TAKE 2) - 119,000 / NEW
[Week 43, 2016] THE ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM SPECIAL ED. (BETHESDA SOFTWORKS) - 116,000 / NEW
[Week 32, 2016] NO MAN'S SKY (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) ~ 110,000 / NEW

Instead of a second week drop, there's a second week increase? That's awesome and the game deserves it. Positive word of mouth? Or people really interested in seeing video game nudity?

I think it's been Fifa 17. And it seems CoD won't be beaten by Battlefield this year WW (despite BF selling more in other territories as Japan) but it seems that is something waiting to happen...

Yeah, One is quite down compared to 2015. Did it have particularly attractive deals before BF, this year? Much more attractive than last year'a pre-BF deals, in comparison?

So, given the first day sales impressions we've had this week, there's a decent chance Pokémon had the biggest non-FIFA opening week of the year.

Also, I always forget what a titan FIFA is over here.

Xbox deals weren't that great here. Prices were more or less around the same they've been for months.

Sony went hard this bf with bundles at 180.

I think so. I'm not sure what the deals were Friday but Amazon currently has X1S with Minecraft and Forza for £200.

Eurogamer's reporting that Sun and Moon were around double Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire's opening in the U.K. What sort of figures are we looking at here?

MCV to the rescue!

Sun and Moon are also Nintendo’s biggest ever launch in the UK ahead of 2008’s Wii Fit, selling more on their first day than Wii Fit managed to do in two days. Pokémon Sun and Moon have also sold twice as much as the previous entries in the franchise, 2014’s Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, GfK adds.

FIFA 17 has taken the official first place with sales increasing 311 per cent, while Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has seen a 155 growth in sales and landed at No.2. Both titles were boosted by Black Friday promotions.

Meanwhile, Battlefield 1 took No.5, with sales increasing 115 per cent and Watch Dogs 2 (No.6) has seen a 5 per cent growth in sales for its second week in the charts. That will be welcome news for Ubisoft, after it's poor initial showing, although it's tempered by some significant discounts at retail, coming less that two weeks after its launch.

Nearly every game in the Top 40 saw impressive sales last week, thanks to Black Friday. Uncharted 4, Driveclub and Ratchet & Clank have all re-entered the charts with sales increasing over 999 per cent. That can be attributed to sales connected to some aggressively-priced PS4 bundles, as last week proved to be the biggest week for PS4 since launch.

1. Fifa 17 - 233,000 (+311%)
2. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare - 203,200 (+155%)
3. Pokémon Sun
4. Pokémon Moon
5. Battlefield 1 - 108,400 (+115%)
6. Watch Dogs 2 - 81,900 (+5%)

Pokémon Sun / Moon > 305,000

is 999 the max increase a game can get according to Chart Track? I dont remember seeing any game getting more than that.

I think you put 327 instead 227

Oops! I used last week's Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare sales instead of Fifa 17. Thanks for pointing out my mistake.

Also, I noticed it is Pokémon Sun / Moon first day > Wii Fit first 2 days (not 2 weeks)

But since we know it doubled Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire launch sales then it must be around 300,000 units.

Close to 300. But not 300 or over.
