PES series - "The Return of the King"

Man...times have changed... you REALLY need to add a phone # to sign up for a yahoo account? Or do they know I'm using a mobile because of their mobile website.

Either way I'm just going to wait till one of the other stores gets it...hopefully Japan soon for TGS.

I'm off to bed, played this and Fifa back to back. Not only does this play better but it looks more realistic too. Fifa looks great but cartoony. Lighting is more natural and players animate more realistic in cutscenes and celebrations.

Basically this is better than Fifa in every aspect except for the stadium noise. Played Barsa vs Napoli in both games. Teams play more realistic in Pes, i just can't believe the king might in fact return at last this year. I'm super excited after playing the demo all afternoon.

Please Konami don't fuck this up, just release with great online play and you will habe my money after a decadenof being a Fifa player only.

Do you think konami are holding it back until sony allows custom files to be used on the ps4.

Maybe they know something we don't.

Also im sold on this.

Much better than fifa in almost every aspect.

The king is almost back

Played this and now I can't get back into Fifa 15 :( The player models in Fifa are too cartoony and plasticky in comparison, and while the PES models seem a bit too wide and stocky, from the neck down PES looks more realistic compared to the new Fifa "shoulders" approach. And of course, the gameplay seems more varied and less arcadey. The way the ball and players move just doesn't compare anymore.

Seriously considering getting both now for old time's sake but I haven't bought a PES since the PS2 days.

I do have a question though: how many teams are licensed now and if teams aren't, is there a way to download kits/faces/boots for the game on the ps4?

Better than Fifa 15 demo but a few annoyances (Xbox One).

* Pressing menu button to skip replays instead of A is irritating

* Passing not always targets the intended player

* Corners and free kicks is not that great, feels much better in Fifa 13

* Opposite players fall over far too often when you win the ball

The more I play, the more I see the deficiencies in the defensive AI. Both teammate AI and CPU AI defenders take a fraction of second too long to react to evident situations that should be instinctive.

Sometimes the center back will just ignore a through ball that passes 20cm from his legs or after a header every defender takes half a second to react to where the ball ends up.

At least the framerate problems that I had the first game I played happened a lot less during the rest of my games. I had a lot of bad luck it appears on my first game. There was stutter every 30 seconds of play. Right now it's 1 or 2 instances per game which isn't perfect but nowhere near gamebreaking.

I hope Konami releases a demo 2 closer to release.

* This has been in PES forever.

* What kind of passing assist do you use? The default is 3/4 while I prefer 1/4.

* Haven't done a lot of corners and FK's yet.

* Yeah the colission detection needs work

Where did you get the Xbox One demo? I don't see it on the NA store?

This is good example of being annoyed with something because you're not used to it. I can't count the number of times I've paused the game instead of skipping a replay in FIFA demos. And I haven't played a full version of a football game since PES5.

This is the PES game we've all been waiting for.
Until Konami make stupid tweaks and ruin the final product.

It's fluid, it's dynamic, and it's fucking fun. After a disappointing few years I'm really enjoying this and it does feel like old school PES again. The only complaint I have right now is regarding the goals, the majority of shots either go straight in or the ball is parried directly into the path of one of the attacking players for an easy tap-in. It's so frustrating conceding the exact same goal over and over again.

I really want to believe this - but I read the same type of comment from someone every year!

Is this game supposed to be 1080p on Xbox One? Doesn't look like it. Looks kind of blurry. Perhaps they are using a shitty AA solution.

Return of the right stick player change. Nice.

I definitely agree with someone mentioning that players fall way too easy. That's just stupid.

Have you changed the shooting settings to ''advanced'' ?

Hahaha. Can someone post that PES cycle picture? I'm not believing the hype, I've fallen too many times to your bullshit.

It's still a flawed game. It's like people don't see the flaws in the demos, because they are definitely there. I still think it's a better game than FIFA though.

It's the second game running on the Fox Engine and it's finally on the new consoles. The framerate is much better than last year and the game definitely feels smoother overall. Still, it has a complete shit UI and the AI is spotty as usual. It seems that they STILL haven't changed the cursor change bug. Semi-assisted and assisted are supposed to be different but they haven't been for many years now.

Haha, I was the same, but it really is different this year. It's not perfect and a lot of things need to be fixed, but the core gameplay is much better than FIFA this year. There's fluidity in it that you just don't get in FIFA. It plays very smoothly compared to the last few years. I mean I'm still fully expecting the full game to be an absolute mess because it's Konami and they always do this, but this demo is fun. I think for the first time in a few years I'll be picking both football games up: PES for the gameplay and fun, and FIFA cos of the superior modes and online.

Have you changed the shooting settings to ''advanced'' ?
No, I'm using the default settings. Is it better advanced?

Edit: I've not played vs the CPU yet, I've mainly just been playing against my brother so I've not noticed some of the problems other people have regarding the AI.

I like to have my right thumb positioned at ABXY all the time, since those are the buttons you use when playing. Having to move the thumb away to the left at every replay situation doesn't feel natural.

Fifa does this right, PES doesn't (but PES also does many other things right that Fifa doesn't)

What? It's one button press and that's it. That is one hell of a weird complaint.

This is good and I'll buy it , the feeling when passing or shooting is much better than fifa, and overall is much more fun and natural to play, but unfortunately all my friends gonna buy fifa for ultimate team... pes gamplay and graphics+fifa modes and presentation= ultimate football game.

With the default ‘’basic’’ shooting, every shot was on goal, I don’t like that.
With advanced settings you have to aim yourself more.

Is everybody getting the you need a licence to play this when trying to play it on their main (uk) account?

Set your PS4 as primary in your Hong Kong account, otherwise it won't work with other accounts.

I've just changed the store on my Xbox One to HK but can't seem to find the demo. Can someone tell me what I need to search for?

I used the default passing setting.
What I meant was that the pass sometimes goes to a completely different player.

That might be due to the fact the default pass assistance is quite high, what happens if you change the settings to 1 bar instead of 3 ? (you can change all these settings on the side select screen)

Ok, downloaded it from the HK store and played a few matches. Sorry for the wall of text but we have the rare case of a football game, that is actually good and not mediocre.

The positives:
- Input lag is gone! Players react faster when inputting a command

- Movement is vastly improved. Dribbling feels more natural and pretty much like FIFA, which is a good thing, because it allows to delay attacks or hold the ball.

- Player ID is phenomenal. Unlke FIFA15, the star palyers are instantly regocnizable. They move like their real counterparts and the detail in animation is incredible. Robben, Ronaldo, Messi, etc. have their own special movement, shooting, passing, ball processing.

- Tactical depth is somewaht superior to FIFA. Freefloating formation, marking, roles. The amount of options and tweaks really is a playground for fans of tactics. And the good thing about it is, that it really works and affects the game. You can customize your squad to a very individual level.

-General passing, crossing and shooting feels good. Reason is the ball physics. Konami pretty much nails them this time. It feels good whatever you do on the pitch and feels satisfying to build up a game WITH midfielders, unlike its big rival.

- Goalkeepers have improved. They parry balls to the side and not to the front, so the second ball is not an instant goal.

- Physics and collision is improved giving weight to takles and 1 on 1s. Still, you have to be always one step ahead of what your next move is, the AI is pretty smart and aggressive. They attack, when you give it space and PLAYS BALLS BACK if you press them to hard, trying to find a solution against your pressing. Its fun.

- Graphics are good. The lighting at daytime isnt that flat anymore and Fox Engine does it job right. Runs with solid 60 fps on PS4 and player detail is great, especially in replays and close ups. Animations are better than the robotic ones in FIFA15, the general level of detail is great in PES.

The negatives:
- Tad bit to fast gameplay. I hope there will be an option to slow down the game speed. But I guess its a very subjective thing.

- AI is agreesive but yet they dont or next to never use fouls, so set pieces are pretty rare. And the general feeling is that the AI sometimes plays undefendable attacks, but that is something subjective again.

- UI and menus are simply hideous. It's time for Konami to finally pay someone who designs them a decent UI.

- Automated passing is still flawed. Sometimes when a teammate is close to you in good position to run into the opponents box, the pass you trigger goes to the teammate somewhere else.

- Lobbed through balls tend to work too well. Not as FIFA bad but sometimes cheap enough.

After a couple of games with both demos I'd say that at the moment, gameplay wise and visually, PES is in nearly every regard better. Of course, Lincences, Pro Clubs, FUT and all, but the core gameplay and the fun you get from the beautiful game, the built up, tactical depth, AI that challneges you... PES just nails them better.
