PES series - "The Return of the King"

So played a couple of matches on xbox one and enjoyed it a lot!

Have to say the graphics are a little blurry though not quite as sharp as I expected. The gameplay is great though, perfectly paced imo and some of the animations are fantastic.

I will get PES for my offline fix and fifa for my online stuff.

I wonder if it's because it's not 1080p, if it's a poor AA solution or if it's the horrendous motion blur they have. It might be the worst implementation of motion blur I've ever seen. Though the game is blurry all the time so it can't be only because of that.
 
I hate the slow reactions from the keepers, they just take forever to dive and seem to do it in a lazy way, I hope that's fixed it's ruining a lot of the goals for me. Blunders aside, I really like the keepers in the fifa demo, they're super fast.

Such a joy watching the fluid PES scenes and replays after weeks of the jarring 30fps ones from FIFA demo (on my beastly PC which pisses me off).
 
Any tips on how to dribble past players without using any of the fancy tricks.

Find it hard to dribble,past opponents.

Whatever it is I hope it is less harsh in the full release, when close up on replays etc it looks great.
 
I think PES is making a comeback after playing the demo. For real this time! While it doesn't have the presentation of the FIFA 15 demo, the gameplay just feels smoother and the ball physics are way better.
That is more important to me in the end. Every match is different and exciting, this is classic PES.

Too bad this game is coming in November and not this month to go head-to-head with FIFA 15.

My main niggle is the passing. It often seems a tad inconsistent in its directness and urgency. Some of them seriously grub along the ground and put you under immense pressure, whilst the exact same input/distance at another time can yield the most brisk pass imaginable.

I kid (kind of). I'm actually really digging it; definitely edges out FIFA, or should I say, 'AI Dribbling Wankfest Simulator 2015'.
 
I've always played Pro Evolution Soccer. In fact, I've played since PSX (here in Chile most of us bought illegal Winning Eleven copies with patches... in that time, Sony didn't bring original ones here) and I always loved the look and gameplay of the game. We didn't care about licenses... in fact, we loved those Castolos, Espimas or Ximenez guys.

I played a lot until PES 2012... but I listened so many good things about FIFA that I switched to FIFA 13 next year. Good game, FUT is great for a time.

Last year, I tried to return to PES, but PES2014 was a DISASTER. For the first time, I sold the game one week before PlayStation 4 launch... I bought FIFA 14 and played not that much... the same formula, very few changes in my opinion.

I said last year that I'd never buy a PES game again, because Konami defrauded me. They sold a bad and incomplete product.

But this year I downloaded FIFA 15 demo and was... same thing again? Nothing changed... maybe the grass looked better, but it could easily be a FIFA 14 upgrade.

So... I downloaded yesterday Winning Eleven 15 from japanese store, I probed it on PlayStation 4 and... IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE.

It was like return to an old friend. Great graphics (maybe FIFA is still better) but A LOT more fun. A superior gameplay (in my opinion), very close to the best of the serie. I just cancelled my preorder of FIFA and changed it for Natural Doctrine.

I only hope MLO (Master League Online) works well because last year was a nightmare... if does, yes, THE KING IS BACK.

Goddamn, I just love how the animations link up, can't believe how far Konami has come in this regard, sometimes I just sit there watching the replay of the most forgettable plays over and over just because of how smoothly it all flows. All of that while feeling weighty and "kinetic". Dammit Konami please don't fuck this up, for once, please?

Off-topic I know but to fix the 30fps replays on FIFA's PC version, set the game to unlimited fps in the options and limit the framerate to 60 with a external program like MSI Afterburner, works for me :)
 
What they really have to fix before the final game is the goalie animations. They move way too slow, it's very jarring.

The passing is so-so, but at least it's better than PES2014.

I haven't played in multiplayer yet so I don't know if they still have that garbage where player 1 has priority over all other players and switches to someone who has already been chosen by another player.

Playing on superstar feels way better than in PES2014. It doesn't feel like the AI players suddenly have 100 shooting accuracy and such nonsense like in previous games.

Overall I really, really like this game. It's way better than last years janky game which was clearly rushed out. More time with the engine and another 2 months of dev time should hopefully give us a great product in the end.
 
On superstar and everything manual this is da bomb, they really overhauled the gameplay for good this time. Hated 2014 so much I sold it after one week, but this is a different experience, no inputlag, very fluent, a bit too fast for my taste (but not fifa-fast). Replays look nice and don't stutter anymore, but keepers still fail to react properly on deflections.
Having a lot of fun with the demo, but no reason to get carried away, since this is only the basics of the basics. no look at online, ML and so on, still plenty stuff to get wrong.

Dat player ID. Every time Neuer comes out of the box by himself to defuse a dangerous through ball by the opposition I orgasm a little. Bayern overall are so good to play as in this, every player really feels unique and competent if you use their strenghts.

I hear ya - 2013 all manual was a joy mostly. Even when I have dabbled in FIFA, it has only been enjoyable in full manual.

I will save full manual on PES 2015 for the full game - can't beat that enjoyable learning curve and dont want to waste it on the Demo.

This x10 - I will never get how people think FIFA has realistic gameplay - even with slider editing it can't compare to PES in the realism and ball physics stakes.

Anyone that plays the real game themselves, whether it be Sunday League, 5 a side or whatever should see that PES wins in this regard.

The crazy thing is with EA's resources, tech and contacts in the game they should have blown PES/Konami off the face of the earth by now but they haven't instead they have just tweaked the FIFA '09 engine year after year. Two Next Gen FIFA's in and they are still using last gen engine and elements - that is just poor for a company of EA's size.

It pains me that Football games are amongst the most stagnated and platued genre in Videogames - they should be alot more advanced and evolved than what they are for this point in time.

Konami would want to give a good online experience this time around.. one thing holding pes back is the terrible online gameplay.. whoevers hosting the match wins regardless of actual skill, because what the peer see's on their screen is delayed. I picked up last years along with 2 other installments last gen, and they all had the same problem..

Unlock the framerate in the options and the replays and cut scenes run full speed.
 
Played the demo and liked it a lot. Some small things here and there can be criticised, but overall it is mighty fun. It also first PES demo since PS2 time that doesn't look like shit compared to FIFA. In my surprise, it looks even better than FIFA15 demo(on PS4), especially in replays.

So I decided to skip FIFA this year and will buy PES. Hopefully they still have Dynamo Kyiv there. PS4 PES GAF league inc?
