PES series - "The Return of the King"

Is it going to be technically possible to download a "real player names" patch for this on PS4?

I don't get why some people care so much about this. When I used to play football games on the SNES/Genesis I prefered International Super Star Soccer over FIFA, and ISSS had names like "Redonda", "Kadijk", "Ziderm", "Barllez" and some I don't even remember and it was still better than FIFA IS and FIFA 95. To each their own I guess.

I will wait for the release of the PES demo on PS4 for the western market next week, so far FIFA 15 had me impress though I will most likely get both games.

Just turned the fifa demo off to play more of this. It's just so fun to play.

It is strange, not sure what it is... I played the demo just try it.. about 5 games worth, considered uninstalling it. Yesterday I found myself playing 4 more games of it.. and now I kind of want to go home and play it as well..... new toy or truly addicting.. will have to play more to find out!

I'll wait for everything to shake out. This seems extremely reminiscent of the thread last year and then it comes out and people think it is shit.

And you know this as gospel? FIFA fanboys are bad, but this is just as bad. Why namelessly slate a game? They're both different and this year, both good.

I am not slating FIFA, I have spent time playing both games in the last few years and I am no fanboy of either game.

I am just saying that the engine is not a fully fledged new engine for next gen IMHO, It still lpoks and feels like a modified version of last gen engine.

There are plenty of things that are barely changed over the years like lighting, plastic skin, cartoony faces, body shapes of player's, stretchy oversized lettering on back of kits, this is just of the top of my head .... These things have been the same in the engine since FIFA 09.

I am merely stating that EA have rested on their laurels as they sell millions year on year and the competition has been no threat to them in sales at least, this has led to stagnation and complacency in their game and the genre as a whole.

Surely we can agree on that much ?

Yes, I agree. PES is the same though, beggars belief that they still have it that the home side kick off and it isn't flip a coin. Such a simple inclusion. The little things matter, thats why FIFA is regarded by many as the better game.

Really loving the demo. I went back to play the Fifa 15 Demo, and shut it off after the first half. Its just unplayable to me.

I'm in canada, where is the cheapest I can preorder and grab the Uk version for the ps4? Amazon UK wont let me :(
Any help would be awesome!

I have played the demo on my Xbox One and I like it. The graphics do need work, it's very blurry on my screen, I thought it would be far sharper but the gameplay really makes up for that.

Passing and dribbling is so sharp, I can actually get the ball and pass it around at my pace without feeling i'm being forced to attack like Fifa. Had more fun on this than I did the Fifa demo.

This will be the first PES in a few years I will get, would like to see them introduce something similar to what Fifa have with Clubs, but BaL and 11v11 online will keep me happy.

Honestly I'm one Option File from buying it. If it would become possible then no question I would get it.

I'll probably end up getting it anyway for League mode but I just can't get too much into Master League anymore with FIFA FUT and Football Manager being better experiences.

If online gets much better then I can be swayed as well.

What is this generalization in this thread?

I for one care about Player ID and it's an awesome feature in PES but I see where the other guy is coming from. I can't play matches with fake player names and no licenses.

When I were a kid I could to some degree but not now.

So? Change the name or download an option file if you're too lazy to change them yourself. I'd much rather have better looking players and the option to change the names, than having real names and ridiculous looking players. Not to mention the gameplay...

But that's the PROBLEM.

You can't use option files on PS4.

And not all of us have time to change player names with jobs and whatnot.

If you have time to play the game, then you have time to change some names. It really doesn't take that long. It's also a one time deal, so it really isn't that big of a deal. It's well worth it in the end considering that you're getting a much better game.

Trust me I know what's it's about. I have been playing every single installment in the PES series since the first.

I no longer have the time nor the patience to edit names manually. And it's not just the names. It's the kits and such.

Why do you even keep arguing this? All I said is, that I understand those who regard licenses highly.

Yeah, I have never made an option file with edited kits/names but if I have to I will with this game. It is worth it for me. I don't care for FIFA's genericness.

My point was that the authenticity is in PES, not in FIFA. I really don't see how anyone can claim there is more authenticity in a game where the players don't even look and move like their real life counterparts. Realistic physics and animations should be important, but I guess the letters on the back of some obscure player is more important (something you can even change yourself in a few minutes, but whatever...).

If FIFA looked way better or at least had really good animations I could understand it since many people care more about graphics than gameplay, but it doesn't even do that.

Now, if someone said that they are getting FIFA for the online play, then I can somewhat understand it. But, I really can't understand it when someone claims it's for the authenticity when EA can't even get the body proportions right.

Oh I misread then.

I could understand if one got FIFA for the licenses but PES 2015 is surely more authentic with its animations and player id yeah.

Have I missed something? I know there's a lack of licenses but PES has had real player names for years now.

Near the end of the match, was one of the 2 or 3 attempts on goal on my behalf for he whole game , wins it 1-0 after being dominated by Napoli the entire thing but managing to hold a clean sheet. This is football.

I LOVE winning games this way, I'd take a smash and grab 1-0 over a 7-0 anyday.

I just love all of these special and unique moment in this demo!

Is it possible to set up an online league or tournament in the full game at least?

I'm guessing online Master League is still in. That's one area I really hope they improve. More online options are really needed in PES. I'm not sure if they have said anything about the online yet.

EDIT: Sadly, it doesn't seem like they've added much new stuff to the online this year either.

Online Modes:

QuickMatch: Simpler ranking match-ups to speed up online games.
Online Divisions : Accrue points in online matches across a season to aim for a promotion or face delegation.
Dedicated 11v11 Lobbies: Makes large-scale multi-player games more fluid and easy to set up.
Cheat Measures: New courtesy system introduced to reduce online cheating.

At least there is some kind of league mode. I guess we'll see how that works.

Not been able to try the demo yet but to those who have can I ask how easy it is to score long shots in the game? I ask because in 2013 it almost seemed too easy but in 2014 it felt virtually impossible from anything but a dead ball situation, don't think I saw a single one. I'd rather not have either of those issues.

supposedly they improved the online to the point that they expect 3x-5x more players playing it... not sure really, traditionally weakest part of the series for sure.

feels all right... i scored from 25m with James I think, without anyone close to him, it felt just right. It is not too easy either, but you can score when situation presents itself.

Oh, Online Divisions seems to be right up my alley. I'm playing tons of Seasons in FIFA and this mode seems to be the same.

Ok, caved in and DL the demo from the hk store, considering that last word is that the demo might not hit the EU store for another 5 days...

what I was shocked was how cheaper games are on the HK store, I mean, 40€ for Diablo III?!
That's even less (6€ less in fact) than the US store and 30€ (LOL!!) than the EU store, goddamn time to start hitting on HK PSN cards

Huge glitch in the PES15 demo just now.

AI chipped the ball over my keeper and scored, I pressed start right after the ball crossed the goal line and went into replay.

When I continued the match, the game just kept going and I was dribbling the ball out of the back of the net.

Remained 0-0. I tried to share it, but I'm one of the millions of people with the broken Share feature on ps4.

I must be playing a different game to most of the rest of you in this thread then.

I quite like PES 2015. It's certainly a lot better than last year's pretty woeful effort, that I got to play in full thanks to PS Plus. The passing is perhaps a little strange in feel and the pace of the game takes some getting used to, but overall it is greatly improved in all of the main key areas, and I can now genuinely see how people would prefer this game to FIFA 15, when last year I was really struggling.

That said, I enjoyed the FIFA 15 demo more. This might be because I had a brilliant first match in the FIFA 15 demo where I scored three wonderful goals that I genuinely think I couldn't have scored in previous editions, thanks to the greatly improved attacking AI of your teammates. PES was good to play, but for me FIFA just has that much nicer feel, with the passing in particular feeling a fair bit nicer.

And, just to say it - licences do matter, but beyond that the presentation is just miles ahead in FIFA, especially with the new Premier League partnership. Playing PES is a bit like stepping into a time warp back to 1999 in this regard.

So, overall - good, and a viable alternative for some, but not at FIFA's level for me. If you've previously enjoyed some of PES's last few entries, you'll like this. In any case, more than worth a look.

I might even buy it at some stage, although unfortunately the release date is sandwiched with the new Assassin's Creed, the Master Chief Collection, The Crew, Dragon Age, Far Cry 4, GTA V next-gen, LBP 3, Project CARS, WWE 2K15 and the Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire remakes all coming within a few days either way. I hope this game doesn't get lost, because given the stagnation of Madden over the last few years I'm glad FIFA has some stronger competition.

I play this one. I choose the World all star team and have Ronaldo and R. Carlos as forward. Both have a level 9 shooting and level 9 speed. and here we go...
I don't think any experience will top that nowadays.

I still remember Ronaldo V- Football lol .... Ronnie , the most excting football player of all time.

I too played and loved those games. Don't make assumptions about how much I care, Junior.

PES, the little footie game that could. Videos of the demo are looking good, could use more fouls though. Looking forward to the US demo release, as well as the game in November!

If the gameplay is great (and it is), bring on that epic North London vs Merseyside Red match on Konami Stadium.

And yet the FIFA players don't care about player ID in PES, or the fact that the players look better in PES.

Why would they? Player ID is a gimmick, I barely notice it and the the players in FIFA looks passable enough for it not to worry a majority of the audience.

And to say that FIFAs graphics are BAD and its animations are bad is laughable to be quite honest, but both games are fantastic from what I've played and that is all I give a damn about tbh. Both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Damn!, just finished play this, Konami have really pulled their socks up this year!!

What teams have the correct names, do they have the rights for the Priemer league this year, or are teams like Liverpool still called Merseyside Red?

dont have the rights to the EPL, but they have the rights to most of the big leagues, CL teams etc

Things like this need sorting - little bit of an immersion killer and it's sadly not a one off as seen similar on other keeper animations on rolls and dives.

I don't do social media myself but if anyone else could bring these to Adam Bhatti's attention through his twitter that would be great.

2 months to hopefully sort things like this.

Thanks

This bothers me so much, and it happens in both games. There're moments when players pass through the floor, the goalpost or the net that brakes the immersion so much :(

Just made a tackle that barely touched Neymar and I was sent off. Realistic refereeing.

LOL

I'm loving this demo so much.
But please don't tell me they took away the feature to kick using [] + / (square + triangle) in order to shoot a strong low ball.
Please tell me there is a away to fix it!
