Possible Xbox Game Pass rebranding as "Microsoft Game Pass"

The timing of this couldn't be more comical. This is exactly what Xbox PR needs right now....

Unfortunately I don't think slapping Microsoft in front of the name will do anything, might actually make it worse. Is Microsoft even synonymous with games? If you ever watch an NFL game, all the coaches are forced to use Microsoft Surfaces since they have a deal with the NFL. Sadly for Microsoft, all the announcers just call it an iPad

Also I don't think this is real as the source is gamestop...

Sony allows other publishers to have sub services on their platform. Maybe if Microsoft did the same thing but only with their 1st party titles it would be accepted. Not to mention adding the option to buy those titles as well.

Just a thought.
This is the only way it could ever happen. There's no way Sony would ever allow gamepass that includes third party games, basically ignoring its own store. And gamepass already has two different versions depending on whether you're on console or PC. A third version with just their first party offerings for Sony/Nintendo wouldn't be much of a stretch.

Of course all this is a thought experiment, there's no way the impending announcement is something this big. They'll start with porting a few lesser titles here and there and work their way up, so something like gamepass on PS would be years away.

I'm done with the Internet. What a mess lol

Now We have people faking logos and making tweet statements that there's a rebrand with no actual knowledge.

these people who are after any form of clout are fucked.

Cool, makes me think Xbox becomes and open platform (pls). Could just be a mistake. I thought it was just "Game Pass" with no Xbox or Microsoft as part of it already?

I'm done with the Internet. I really am.

We have people faking logos and making tweet statements that there's a rebrand with no actual knowledge.

these people who are after any form of clout are fucked.

Then we have the meltdowns and suicides. Not to mention all the crying and screaming. Then there's the randoms terrorising people at gaming stores. Not to mention people tossing their consoles in the trash.

Did I forget to mention the cannibalism?

I think this might fall in line so that when they put game pass on PlayStation and switch the Xbox brand name is used. It might fall in line with the policies. Both Sony and Nintendo may have.

Or it could all be bullshit and a mistake.

With the official branding from Microsoft itself a couple of posts ago it's basically confirmed. I assume they do not want the Xbox branding when Game Pass is launched on other consoles.
Gonna be a Ubisoft+-like service I suppose.

So, can we start assuming that the Xbox brand will be discontinued and MS will go 3rd party with heavy focus on the mobile market?

Microsoft not having a Pro console in the works makes more sense as these rumors are coming out. They're leaving the dirty work to Sony. Phil is a genius.

The only reason Satya is getting rid off the "Xbox" name is because of all the retarded fanatics doing the X-symbol with their arms. He saw these idiots and cringed so hard that even his ancestors could feel the shame.

Well I said it in a previous post that it needed rebranding and people laughed at me.

well lets be fair I said it needed branding on PC only but you get the gist

But boys I called it on January 7th. Who wants to touch me.

Gamestop can make their own social media images. I wouldn't take something they put up as proof of anything, the Xbox bros are a little raw at the moment and might be looking for "signs" where there aren't any. (ditto for PS fans looking to kick Xbox a little).

They've spent years building the brand "Xbox" it has a better consumer relationship with gaming than MS. Their next event is about the future of Xbox, etc Not saying they wouldn't do it, but I'd wait for them to say it. I knocked the brand the other day because I was a little miffed about some info that MS wasn't denying, but there is still a lot of value in that brand. They just have to be careful how they frame things if they wan't to continue doing hardware and lean more into 3rd party at the same time. They have to find some way of offering buyers some security / believable reassurances in regards to their purchases on Xbox.
