Wow. Not even a chance to test a fighter or platformer to get an idea if the service is viable before charging.
Not cool.
The closest is a twin stick shooter, and that controls pretty damn well actually.

Those don't require frame counting. At least it that I know of.The closest is a twin stick shooter, and thag controls pretty damn well actually.

The service isn't even out yet and I have no idea what the final pricing will be but fuck you Sony, you filthy money-grabby bullshit company and your stupid ideas.
I'm like totally out right now, thanks for nothing.
But it does require some precise movements. Its Big Sky Infinity or something. Those don't require frame counting. At least it that I know of.
Have you tried it? Is it accurate enough? Uhg I might pay to test it.

1. Remove backwards compatibility
2. charge me to rent games I own but can no longer play
3. profit.....
Thanks for reminding me. I might have reported back....NDA dude. Sorry.
I wondered how they were going to handle the open Beta. Charge for the service while in beta. Idk how I feel about this
$3-$6 for 4 hour rentals.
$20 better get you 6 months.
I find it kind of odd how quick everyone is to crucify Sony over prices for a service that isn't even public yet. Odds are that they are pricing stuff now to gather feedback and adjust going forward. Just reading this thread, you would think there was some sort of official announcement on all this. Just keep in mind, there's a reason why this is still in beta.
I know some people are cheap but come on. $20 will probably get you a month of rental time, which seems reasonable.
Instead of trying to charge ridiculous fees by all accounts for old games in a beta product to see if anyone will bite, they should just skip all that and just ask for feedback on pricing. Especially since the free games seem to have been removed from the service where you'd actually be able to test the quality of the service. This seems more like a soft launch of the service rather than beta testing usability.

Man, people really don't like these prices. They sound fair for brand new games but not older ones.
I think it's worth saying this will probably never be like Netflix, streaming video is nothing compared to streaming a high fidelity video games. Also not sure if people noticed but movies at retail are usually 1/4 to 1/3 the cost of a videogame. If publishers are setting the prices they are going to look like this for old games, they probably shouldn't be.
If I remember right when Netflix first started streaming you had to be paying $5.99 a month to get a like 6 hours of streaming on top of the mail service. Look back at PS+ there was one mounth we got Critter Crunch as the one free PS+ game...now there are 6 games across three platforms. So I wouldn't be surprised if an uproar from fans and low sales caused something to change. That said I think a lot of people here have unreasonable expectations.
Most prices seem fair if you've never played the game or owned a ps3. I bet ff13 on Psnow still looks better than the half assed 360, hah.
If Xbox Live should have taught us anything, it's that people will pay a lot of money for money grubbing bullshit. Vita memory cards are not a viable excuse for its performance IMO.So, they are taking a very good idea and fucking it up with their money-grabby bullshit. (See also: proprietary overpriced Vita storage hurting a great platform)
The fact that you guys can't talk about prices in a public beta is ridiculous.
Or buy new for $18.00 from Amazon.Final Fantasy XIII-2
$4.99 for 4 Hours
$7.99 for 7 days
$14.99 for 30 days
$29.99 for 90 days.
Wasn't it like $8 to rent a game for a weekend from Blockbuster back ~10 years ago? Just trying to put things in perspective a bit...
I'll stick with Gamefly
