You could appear offline on the PS3.

Does it work like it used to? You can use it in a game without having to exit the game?
Wonderful! Looking forward to this upgrade then.Yep. Works just like before.
Anyone else not liking the blue dot beside the avatar? I understand online (in)visible status is important, but the blue dot (which turns into a red one with a white cross in it, if you want to appear offline to friends) is a literal spot on a otherwise clean, sleek looking UI.
Is it just a placebo or is the OS UI in 3.5 snappier then before.
Feels like that to me.

I'm not in the beta but I don't like things like this. Why not just put a thin border around the avatar? Green online, red offline.
This is normal for Sony to add useless things every major update that was fine before.
It looks worse when you have friends online. Because then you have two blue spots (one with a number beside it, adding further clutter), neither of which are the same size, nor are they aligned.

Gonna bring it to @Toshimasa_Aoki 's attention. He's a good egg.

Great, a feature requested since launch. They spared us no time in bringing us Playstation Now, though.
I'm still locked out of the beta forum. Can anyone else get in?

Nope, you could only set yourself as "away;" but that didn't stop people from messaging you and spamming invites because they saw you were playing something.
How do we even get to it?
I'm most excited by the PlayStation VR references tucked away in the Health & Safety section. I wonder how much VR groundwork is sitting behind the interface we currently see?

that's probably because of this PS4 Rebuild Database Makes A Huge Difference
and it does happen every time with firmware updates, so no wonder UI feels faster after update

I'm not even sure why they do surveys for feature requests because they aren't really listening.

^ I ticked all of those (apart from the 'none' option obviously)
Well, if you ticked every option then your form wasn't worth anything to them.

They've added 3 things of the last survey so far.
5 if we count PS2 classics and Store wish list.
Maybe not many people voted for folders?

Friend notifications and appear offline are awesome
So basically the next update will have folders and library filtering/removing... and maybe the wishlist in the console store.
