What you are saying still makes no sense though.. why would they use a 1080p30 demo to show off resolution scaling techniques? He pushed for a answer to a question that nobody knows.

You mean multiple people pulled you up on the ridiculousness and now you are backtracking. He pushed for a answer to a question that nobody knows.

Did you watch the video and look at the performance, well lack of?
LOL to his clueless PCMR commentary during the video as well.
Thank you. I just clicked on the clip, looked at the PC specs, then did a slight chuckle.I think it would be very similar but what wouldn't be is the cost of a PS5 vs the PC in that video

That isn't really an impressive way to do it.. you'd want to push more detail, or push the framerate higher..
It's also not new either as the PS5 demo used reconstruction.
struggling
Nope I am very serious when I see such money spent netting such compromising results with this demo and with CP2077.You mean multiple people pulled you up on the ridiculousness and now you are backtracking.
I'll tell you what i think, i think you posted that video because you were salavating over the 35fps on a 3090, without realizing the demo was running at 4k, and not 1080p lol.
Either option is a glorious backfire.
Well i'm glad you find it entertaining as its only going to get worse as the gen goes on.Nope I am very serious when I see such money spent netting such compromising results with this demo and with CP2077.
It's good entertainment
sorry i hate the editor here sometimes."He pushed for a answer to a question that nobody knows.

I didnt post that.
Oh I know it will when PS5 exclusives start releasing.Well i'm glad you find it entertaining as its only going to get worse as the gen goes on.
Did you listen to what they said in the videoWhat you are saying still makes no sense though.. why would they use a 1080p30 demo to show off resolution scaling techniques?

Yes; they mention it 3 minutes into the video.. and we know it was used in the PS5 demo...Did you listen to what they said in the video
It's one of the new highlights of the engine and noteworthy for all devices.
I found it very impressive
It's used in both XSX and PS5 footage.Yes; they mention it 3 minutes into the video.. and we know it was used in the PS5 demo...
You claiming it was the purpose of the video is pretty hilarious; it was one mention in their script... in their tech docs they make it clear to expect 1080p + scaling for games utilizing Nanite + Lumen on next-gen consoles.. this is expectation setting, not purposefully lowering a resolution to show off a feature.
It's used in the original PS5 demo from a year ago..It's used in both XSX and PS5 footage.
I didn't claim it was the purpose of the video LOL
I said it was a highlight because it was.
Reconstruction techniques will be a big thing for gaming as a whole.
Misinformation: the thread
Those specs are for running the demo in the editor. The compiled demo uses 4-6gb of RAM and 6-7gb of VRAM.
Unreal Engine 5, [UE5 Developer Availability 2022-04-05]
Would it be something like 480p scaled to 1080p or is that taking it too far? It would be about 720p internal res I presumeforum.beyond3d.com
It also runs just fine on a regular HDD:
It pushes 3x the pixels of the PS5 demo. Try again.
Epic already said the engine will run on Switch, and even XB1 and PS4. I'm sure XSS will be fine.I'm really curious to see how this tech runs on the XSS. The prevailing wisdom is it just doesn't have enough RAM to run current gen games. Since lower end PCs can run this tech is it really possible that XSS won't be able to run this engine?

Don't know but what place to show off this new tool no?It's used in the original PS5 demo from a year ago..
And you are implying it's the reason they lowered the resolution... there is no reason to think that.
Not sure what your point is. Follow the context. The graphic card running this is also over three times the MSRP cost of a whole PS5. And the PS5 demo was objectively more impressive.
Don't know but what place to show off this new tool no?
Running a less impressive demo is not a victory for the PCMR. Unreal Engine is a multi platform engine and will scale given fidelity adjustments. Not sure what your point is. Follow the context.
So in the end you don't even need a regular SSD to run the demo better over next gen consoles.
I never claimed a victory for anything. That's why I told you to follow the context.Running a less impressive demo is not a victory for the PCMR. Unreal Engine is a multi platform engine and will scale given fidelity adjustments.
The lead engineer of Epic China just doesn't know the difference between a video and running something natively. Tim Sweeney told us so.Epic china engineer made a oopies when they said sata ssd works great.
so many people jumped on them but what do you know?

You think PC won't be using fake resolutions to run UE5 games? It's a tool to increase performance.. this demo is not more performant than their last.
It's possible the PS5 is hitting better framerates than XSX on this demo, but both are locked at 30... the inverse.. is also possible.
Neither are anywhere close to what a 3090 is doing on PC. And Epic has outright stated that getting good framerate on next-gen consoles will likely require 1080p->4k upscaling.
You think PC won't be using fake resolutions to run UE5 games?
I guarantee any current GPU will.
Its not running @ a good performance though the fps was all over the place with a $4000+ build.Who said that?
This convo is based on people running the game 4k native at higher framerates than the video demo 1080p native.
Less impressive?
The graphics quality and level of detail are the same in every respect, except the levels and spaces are actually open world now, no longer small spaces or tight corridors. It's also now more interactive.

Imagine seeing graphics like that and actually giving a FUCK about a pointless 60fps.
You FPS nerds disgust me.
30 all day, fuckers.
What if the visuals effect gameplay like physics and shit? Wouldn’t it be better to have more complex simulations at the expense of frame rateI'm curious what that will look like as well. Especially if the target for third-party UE5 is 1080p/30 on XSX/PS5. If XSX/PS5 were targeting 1080p/60, the XSS might be safe at 1080p/30 (giving the weaker gpu twice the time per frame) with a few nips and tucks here and there. I guess we'll know when the first UE5 game drops.
If it were entirely up to me, I'd take the smoothness of 60fps and just knock the visuals back a bit. Hopefully we get both modes.
