RTX 4090 review thread

Great, show me a PC exclusive developed game that does things current consoles won't be capable of doing until PS6, and I might consider getting one....but I'm not spending that kind of money to play hand-me-down console ports whose only USP is running at higher resolutions/framerates.

Headlines like that are the reason why Nvidia keeps getting away with these things. As long as you get your fancy performance boost, who cares what the power and cost are, right?
So the usual next level shilling performance from our favourite human frame counters?

Full path ray tracing?

This is the definition of this generation. PS5/XBX games being forced down by cross-gen games and PC being forced down by consoles.

Why does next gen need this much power and why does a PC need this kind of graphics card? Both will never be used properly.

Looking at the watts consumed I dont understand why the huge cooling. :S
AIBs were told these were gonna be 600W GPUs.
Nvidia only told them they were 450W much later, so they had already designed around a 600W GPU.

Nvidia being dicks as usual.
Atleast like this they can use these same coolers on the likely 600W 4090Ti'48GB.

DLSS3 is real game changer here.

No Way Smh GIF by Amazon Prime Video

Sub 60 second renders for pretty much every render engine.
This thing is a joke, we gonna be rendering offline animations as if we are using online renderers.

Way way above what I'm willing to spend but still nice to see such a big jump. Looking forward to the 5060/5070.

Fucking control is still a performance hog without dlss 3.

Hype for the first modern heavy AF game without dlss to see how much overkill this card really is...

Does any game with rtx automatically has dlss?

Nice upgrade - however - considering the actual amount of additional investment required to run these (massive overheating) cards - I'll wait until RDNA3 is released with benchmarks..

Its what I am waiting on as well because of benchmarks plus RDNA 3 supporting Display Port 2 and PCIE Gen 5

It's performance and exclusives, same as consoles. A PS5 doesn't have unique capabilities either.

Cyberpunk 2077. If you think that is a hand-me-down console port then you are delusional.

PC has a ton of exclusive games

Besides playing any game in 4k 160hz with max settings is a different game even if its a console hand me down game

If you are trolling you got me good job as this post can't be serious

At this point I think a Crysis-esque game in 2023 where the 4090 could barely run it (similar to how top-end GPUs handled Crysis in 2007) would be damn near photo realistic.

Pretty much.
Once you accept to have RTX integration in the game DLSS is all but a given.
I cant think of any RTX titles that dont have DLSS.

I think only AMD sponsored titles can have Raytracing and NOT have DLSS.
GodFall
Dirt 5
Resident Evil Village
FarCry 6
Forza Horizon 5
Resident Evil 2 RE
Resident evil 3 RE
Life is Strange
The RiftBreaker

Funny enough Quake II RTX cant support DLSS due to licensing, even if DLSS is one of the fundamental RTX features.

So the problem is gonna be only with broken\heavy games without rtx and dlss.

Or like unoptimized ps5 ports.

It brute forces itself through all the notorious for loving AMD Ubisoft titles.

With Ubisofts Anvil and Dunia, this thing doesnt quite hit the 4K120 mark.
Bet you RDNA3 will blitz past 4K120 with these engines.

In FarCry 6 at 4K the 6950XT wouldnt even have you thinking its a full generation behind.

So how many of these videos talk negatively about the power consumption or that s its whopping $1,599.99?

I am very curious to see how AMD's 7000 series cards will fare against the 4090 in AMD favored games like AC Valhalla. The 6950xt outperformed the 3090Ti and the 4090 is roughly only 33% faster here. While in other games I saw it go up to 100% faster.

If AMD can improve performance by just 50% and arent bottlenecked like Vega cards were then we might actually see them outperform the 4090 in engines where AMD cards typically perform better.

They all talk about them and positively so.

Price to performance is where it should be and it isn't as power hungry as anticipated.
