Pretty much averaging 440 watts in every single game. What were the 340 watt benchmarks posted earlier?

Let's catch up to what the next gen consoles and UE5 is designed to offer first and then we'll worry about hitting full RT/PT games in the next decade.

Man. I am doing a small calcuation... I do not think my O11 Air Mini will fit the gigabyte card i have on order... the glass must be removed in order for it to fit.

wtf kinda pissed off.

The card it self fits fine. but the power Pcie crap.. there is no way i have extra 3cm clearance space.

I hope I can order the FE @ best buy tomorrow, its my only chance. otherwise ill settle with the gigabyte and keep the glass open till either i find a different case ( which i do not want ) or some smart company comes up with a 90 degree cable or something.

The performance was never a doubt. Nvidia is a master class but that price is completely unreasonable.

The prices in the EU are insane. Hopefully I can get one at the BX or it'll wait for a trip to the States.

VAT tax my ass.

Well, I still think its a good idea to wait for AMD next month and see their pricing. Performance will be "close enough" to where it probably won't matter for most people but if the price is lower.. that matters.

Best case realistic scenario would be a 7900xt in $1200 range and 7800xt bellow $1000, using less power, and less space with smaller coolers.

Make sure to tell all your friends to wait until November so there's a 4090 waiting for me later today. Thanks.

I held out till March 2021 and cost myself a lot but still made $1600 when I cashed out. I am glad it is dead however.

I can completely understand, strangely I don't hold any real animosity to anyone who was doing it at home paying their electricity bills and almost paying off the expensive card they've paid for. I just couldn't do it myself. Maybe I'm crazy 😄

But when you see a mining farm that's got thousands of gpus that could have been going to real gamers, eating electricity...I dunno...not a fan.

Over three times the price of a console but offers console crushing performance.....native 4k maxed out games with full raytracing at 85-120fps on cyberpunk. This thing is unreal and not even next gen consoles will compete.

This should be 1200 maximum and then you could clearly say its an incredible product, but at these prices anything outside of the founders, tuf and gigabyte oc are all new levels of nvidia insanity.

What a card though. Good luck AMD let's all pray that they have something crazy too.

Trying to decide which AIB I'd go for incase I can't snag a 4090fe. I'm thinking either Asus TUF or MSI Suprim.

The 3080 tuf was a beast last time and basically msrp. I have a soft spot for msi though my 2080 and 3080 were both gaming trio x and they've been incredible cards.

I think they'll compete with 4080, maybe even 4090, in rasterization, sure, but seeing how they didn't dip their toes in AI with RDNA 2 and had FSR as a solution to DLSS, I doubt we'll see them offer something to counter Nvidia's frame generation. And RT, we'll I seriously doubt they leap over.

What's clear is that, these cards won't really be stressed too much for rasterization pure games at 4K 120 fps.

What's coming though is Nvidia changing the playing field to their advantage with RTX remix and collaborations ala Cyberpunk 2077 to go full path tracing with the overdrive patch. Motherfucking Portal RTX was done with RTX remix ! Now imagine the wave of older game updates with insane graphics we'll be seeing? The fondation that Nvidia picked at Turing time and focused on is gonna be flexed big time with Ada.

For these games there's gonna be
RDNA 2 << Ampere << RDNA 3 << Ada <<<< Ada DLSS 3

It's going to be a slaughter. (I'm pretty sure, still just a guess). Only way I see anyone playing Cyberpunk with overdrive RT at 4K >60 fps is with an Ada card.

It's going to be a hard gen to watch and hard to resist a buy even with ampere.

But you're right, it's a good thing to wait on what AMD offers, even if it just forces Nvidia's hand into a price drop.

The problem with RTX Remix is it requires a fixed function (DirectX 7 equivalent) version to work. So it's mostly limited to HL2 era games.

dx8 & 9 btw, not dx7. And that's the limitations so far on first iteration of RTX remix.

It's an interesting period actually with loads of games I would like to see.

The half life source engine games being obvious picks, but also Silent Hill 2 & 3 ports, MGS 2, FEAR, alpha protocol, ass creed 1 & 2, etc.

DX9 list is huge in fact, but I don't know how many are fixed function.

Edit : seems someone managed to filter PCGW lists as accurate as PCGW can track stuffs like shader versions and so on, it's been commented as a pretty accurate list for Remix candidates.

https://bit.ly/rtxremix

Tons of games I would want to play in RTX on there. Max Payne 1 & 2, stalker series, return to castle wolfenstein, Vampire the masquerade, etc. Ass creed is not possible apparently.

I feel lucky to not give a fuck about rtx or old ass games with rtx stuff in them, this is why amd could really make me change brand with ease after so many years of nvidia cards.

If you pause your Gold subscription for 39 years, you will get just enough to buy 4090.
I don't have a gold subscription to pause unfortunately:lollipop_grinning_sweat:

It's not even a question of money, i could buy a 5000 euros build as we speak, it's just a mental obastacle i guess, i always bought the 70 series since the 770 and never spended more than 450 euros for a gpu.

Also the timeline we are living is pretty dark right now, i can't even predict if i'm still gonna have a job or incomes in a year from now...

does it work on dx7? everything ive seen mentions dx 8 and 9?

Can't wait to see what rtx remixs of dark souls 1 and 2 look like.

That's why I edited my post to say "equivalent". You can use the fixed function pipeline on DirectX 8/9, but a lot of developers dropped support for it after 2004/2005, since all cards after Geforce 3 had programmable shaders (ignoring the POS Geforce 4 MX).

From what I understand, prior to programmable shaders the GPU was a kind of "black box" you would send draw calls too. RTX Remix intercepts these draw calls and uses them to construct a model of the world. But this doesn't work with programmable shaders, where there is a two way process between the GPU and the game engine and the GPU only sees one side.

No, it requires the DirectX 8/9 APIs.

Software lagging seriously far behind Hardware at the moment. To think the 4090 seems CPU bound at 4K so often is just INSANE!

Only in rasterization. In RT, these 4090 are good for high refresh gaming.
And with UE5 games coming out soon, these cards will be put to good use.

Godspeed day 1 purchasers.. I hope it's better than Ampere

I'm starting to think that Nvidia built an AI to analyze just how much they can push MSRP and still have peoples lineup to get one 😳

BTW, for those interested in VR benchmarks

It's a beast. First GPU that will max out your index capabilities it seems like.

I seriously hate these people. It's because of these jerks that nvidia can charge these prices.

I got bad news folks:

AMD aint gonna save the day. They're looking at this and seeing that they can charge high prices for their RDNA3.

RDNA3 will likely be cheaper, but I wouldn't be surprised if the 7900XT is like $1100, the 7800XT is like $900 and the 7700 is like $700.

The price is just pure greed. Inflation is at 8 %, and suddenly the price is +100 % - +200 % of what we are accustomed to.
You saw that picture with that line of people, that is setting the price.

Nvidia seeing things like that probably wishing they would have charged a few hundred more.

To me the worst part of this pricing is that we have nothing to compare it to not having benchmarks of the real 4080 and the disguised 4070 and RDNA 3

If anything it looks to be overkill for VR outside of those with reverb G2 or pimax headsets. Not that that's a bad thing but it's looking like a card you can buy and potentially be more than comfortable for ~4 years.

yeah i'm gonna skip this shit.

i'll wait for better CPUs, 3.0 PSUs, PCIE 5.0 SSDs, and GPUs that use DP2.0 and PCIE 5.0 before upgrading.

To much money for something that is gonna struggle to be powered and will get bottlenecked.

this is a GPU that can do 4K 144fps or even higher depending on the game but due to using DP 1.4 it can only display 4K 120hz lol. That's if it's not bottlenecked by current CPUs. Most PSUs are either too weak or don't have the connector for it. And it's using PCIE 4.0 and we don't have PCIE 5.0 SSDs either.

Best Buy Canada sold out online in a millisecond. CS chat said it's online only and not to expect stock in store. Did anyone get an invite to buy from Nvidia?
