Never played a Silent Hill game. (Or really played a RE game either)

Another game with missing effects and such -_- Konami I am not pleased. First MGS with missing features and now SH. You better make ZOE true to the original releases.
It's funny how all the drama surrounding SH2 months ago made most people completely forget there was another game getting the same treatment. Whoops?
Heather sounded fine from what I remember, but it was just brief clips of sound, so hard to tell.
Wow... the new voice acting is pretty bad. Something about it just does not do justice.....
From what I have heard so far, the new voice acting sounds a lot better. The silent hill games are great, and I love them all, but they are hardly great because of the voice/controls/graphics (mostly). As such I'm fine for them to adjust these thing and make them better.
If they mess with the general atmosphere/sense of foreboding, as mentioned above though, that would be a bit of a let down (otherwise known as the recent silent hill games).
As far as I know, you can switch the audio back to the original audio if you want to, so I don't see much of a reason to really complain.
Not for Silent Hill 3 you can't, and the missing effects are troubling.

What drives me the craziest is that I'll be grabbing this collection no matter how terrible it is just to have the excuse to buy Silent Hill 2. That and be able to play the games with a wireless controller.
no original VA for SH3 ?
no buy![]()
The new VA is much better acted. It's also less weird and doesn't feel as "off" as the original. I can see why that bothers some people, because the old VA maybe added something to the mood of the original, but it always took me out of it.

THIS.Actually, I don't think I agree with you. The new VA's seemed to be just as stilted and awkward as the originals (probably because they are aiming to match the delivery for the sake of lip-sync), and some of the voices just don't match the characters at all. Mary's new voice sounds like a breathy, depressed, old woman. Jame's new, deeper voice doesn't match the look of the character at all.
Even though the delivery was "off" in the original VA, at least the voice actors matched their characters. This is just awful. This whole ordeal makes me want to cry, seeing as how SH2 and SH3 are two of my favorite games of all time. They deserved better, damn it.

just watched the kotaku comparison vid. Just awful. The scene with James by his car is just butchered. Old Mary's reading of the letter is just so much better than the new one. Guy's monologue is superior and the new music just kills the scene.
I'm actually not sure what I think of Angela. I fully expected to like the new voice better since Angela was really the only I didn't like before. Problem is the voice sounds much too normal and too young for Angela's model. I know Angela is supposed to be young but her character model and voice never fit that. Changing one without the other doesn't really fix the problem and just makes it even more awkward.
now is the changed music only with the new recording? Kotaku's vid of the old voices sounds fine.
Omg...what's this I'm hearing about new music? Wtf! What did they change?

Just rent it or buy it and form your own opinion. : )Ahhh. I've never played all the way through 2 and I never played 3. Not sure what to think of this collection.
You know what's disheartening? Even for nowadays' standards SH3 has pretty good (sometimes even excellent) facial animation and it will be ruined by awful lip-sync thanks to the new voice acting ;_;
I just watched the SH3 vid. Heather's new voice just sounds so damn wroong

Is there a way just to play everything from the originals just with HD? Or do you have top play the PC versions for that?
Honestly, the PC version of Silent Hill 2 isn't even that good. It has a lot of missing visual effects (though it seems this collection will too). The best experience remains on PS2 using an old CRT.Is there a way just to play everything from the originals just with HD? Or do you have top play the PC versions for that?
No, the PS2 or Xbox versions are in 480p and unable to be scaled to a higher resolution. You would have to play either the the PC version of SH3 for the original experience, while the HD collection version of SH2 consists of the original stuff.
So for playing either game in their original version in HD, it's:
SH2: HD Collection with old sound track or the PC version
SH3: PC version.
Damn, I just watched the video - the SH2 is clearly based off PC version (nasty sharp shadows for the lossdark10x said:It has a lot of missing visual effects (though it seems this collection will too).
I'd argue the best would be whenever PCSX2 runs it properly (still through CRT though - even SH3 on PC looks better on a CRT - with ultra high AA it's like a moving painting, and you won't get that on LCDs).The best experience remains on PS2 using an old CRT.
Wrong! (Skip to 1:06 for non-blurry footage)
I didn't even realize the Silent Hill games were working on PCSX2, I should give them a whirl some time.
Did someone say FOV?Additionally, you do not get the chance to properly change the FOV and avoid the usual stretched 4:3 image seen in PS2 games.
