Small graphical issues you want remedied next-gen

No one mentioned tearing yet? Yeah, I say that shit has to be eradicated in next gen. Most annoying graphical flaw this gen for me.

Is screen tearing a relatively new thing? I don't remember anything about it from last gen consoles. What is it about these consoles on why it happens in games?

Is it a simple case of pushing the consoles too hard or something?

The framerates

We're seeing some good attempts from Nintendo on WiiU and most fighting games and also a few racing games and fast action games.

BUT
I want 60 fps in ALL console games next gen!

Seriously, It really doesn't matter if it's a slow paced game, I simply don't want to see that 30 fps or sub 30 fps crap anymore. I have made Java action games myself that don't drop a single frame below 60. And I would exaggerate if I called myself a novice programmer. It's called prioritizing and optimizing. It's not that hard. Just don't see 30 fps as an option. Ever.

dont know the technical name

but is when those horizontal lines appear (screen cut off) when i move the cursor fast, usually on First Person games.

I want screen tearing banished from the face of the earth.
I want 60fps to be the target as opposed to barely reaching 30.
30fps locked at the very minimum!
Better shadows and lighting.

Just to add; I don't agree that consumers just want better gfx. Take a look at Nintendo first party games. 60fps has a lot to do with the appeal of these games - even if some players don't realise it.

Tearing, stuttering. No matter what your game looks, it's smeared in shit when either occurs.

Also I have yet to see good implementation of motion blur so I'm tempted of labeling it to a flaw :b

I seriously want jaggies to be a thing of the past. They are incredicly unimmersive and distracting. Not to mention that they ruin the fine art that talented artists made. No more dancing and shimmering lines seems.

Kill the Jaggies!!!!

Just play your HD games on an SDTV. Problem solved.

Vsync. We should have no tearing next-gen. But I doubt it.
Vsync increases controls lag and decreases fps. I'm all for vsync when the game is running at a steady 60 fps all the time. If not then I prefer higher fps and less controls lag to some tearing.

Not me. I loathe tearing. I can easily and enjoy a game with 25fps locked vsync than a game at 60fps and tearing.

Jaggies. You know, at this point in console development, one would think that we already have a good solution to this but no, that's not always the case.

Maximum level of anisotropic filtering everywhere everytime.
1080p native resolution.
Others I can live with.

Yup. Low res and lack of filtering is what kills this gen for me. Everything looks muddy and low res. even wii games look substantially better with a simple res and filtering improvement.

LOD needs to go away for good and tesellation needs to replace it 100%

this probably won't happen right away...maybe towards the middle or end of the generation :/

Every console game this gen look so blurry! Its weird! Hope this gets fixed soon!

Its the number one reason why Im not looking forward to GTAV's visuals. IV was a blurry and BLOOMY mess. Like someone smeared vaseline on the screen.

What's the shimmering you see in games? Is that just a resolution thing? Is it AA again? I usually see it in the distance like this Last of Us shot down the street or in the GTAV trailer on this freeway shot. Also I remember seeing it a ton in Uncharted on detailed objects like statues and complicated looking medallions. Can't find a shot of those though.

jaggies won't go away IMO...most AA methods hurt performance a lot. I just bought a $300 GPU and it has trouble with anything more than 2x MSAA for deferred rendered games. I guess the devs could lock the FPS at 30....

Every console game looks blurry?

Seriously, if that's what you're seeing, then you have a problem with your display and/or you haven't calibrated it properly.

Jaggy shadows. Been playing Lego games on PC with my gf and they look beautiful except for hideous shadowing

This is my worst enemy. I can actually handle pop-up and tearing more than this.
And if your shadows look blocky as all hell STOP USING CLOSE-UPS.

But I also want texture grass, pop up, any "realism" filters/effects and any and all tearing to GTFO.

But his example was correct. GTAIV on PS3 was as blurry as you can get.

Which reminds me, I played DS2 on PS3 yesterday and it looks incredibly good. No vaseline filters, no motion blur, no stuttering, no tearing, just clear art design and ingenious use of baked and dynamic lights.

The only problem that really brings me out of a game is tearing. If most of the 360/PS3 games didn't have tearing the resolution, FPS, and other graphical issues wouldn't be enough to hinder my experience, but screen tearing? I hate it.

I want 3d characters that have natural poses, not that stupid Gi-Joe rigid posture that makes every character look like an plastic action figure. Especially when idle...
RE : remake managed to do this on gamecube a few years ago, so I guess It's wouldn't be too hard to do on the fantastic and magical next-gen consoles that everybody's waiting for.

That's a matter of art design, not tech.
