Scribble said:Eh, I know you guys hate Krystal, but most character predictions are made based on who is most likely, and not just personal preference. Otherwise we'd all be randomly shouting Goombario for Brawl! Or Ryo Hazuki for Brawl!
Let's look at the most popular, 'most major' or most significant Nintendo ladeez:
Krystal
Dixie Kong
Tiny Kong
Micaiah (Fire Emblem RD/Wii)
Kumatora (Mother 3)
Mona
Ashley
Kat and Ana
Jody Summers
Daisy
Pauline
Captain Syrup
Dark Samus
Paula
Bubbles (Clu Clu Land)
Lip
Midna
Tetra
I've probably missed a few. But here are the most likely ones (In no particular order, except Krystal is the most likely):
1. Krystal (Has a huge fanbase, although I'm not part of it. Plays a major role in the most recent SF games)
2. Micaiah (Which would be a terrible choice, IMO. Ike already represents
3. Dixie Kong (She was big in her day, not so now. But she nearly kicked as much ass as
Samus. Her design is pretty awful, though)
4. Mona (Wario's Peach! And has been in every WarioWare since the beginning)
5. Dark Samus (The most likely -- and best -- Metroid option if Ridley isn't a PC)
6. Midna (I think she's one of the best LoZ characters ever, but I think she'd be better as an AT. I just don't want her to be a PC due to personal preference)
Shig said:So I was thinking about the My Music feature... how exactly is it going to pan out for franchises that have very little music to draw upon, like Kid Icarus and Ice Climbers? The music arrangement we heard for Kid Icarus already covered pretty much every theme in the game, so where are they going to draw upon if they're gonna have more than that one theme selectable? Multiple remixes of the main theme, or will they create new tracks 'in the spirit of' the game's original music?
Shig said:Or maybe could we see some cross-franchise additions to help pad those out; there's no shortage of ice-themed levels in Nintendo games, so maybe Ice Climbers' level could draw on those... for example, stuff like Sasha's theme from AWDS, Phendrana Drifts from MP, and Gorilla Glacier from DKC could fit such a stage very well, while from seperate franchises they'd thematically fit in much moreso with the IC's level than they would with the lava-filled Metroid stage or the bright, sunny Donkey Kong one.

Kid Icarus has more amazing songs than just the Underworld theme.Shig said:So I was thinking about the My Music feature... how exactly is it going to pan out for franchises that have very little music to draw upon, like Kid Icarus and Ice Climbers? My opinion is that stickies should mostly be for threads that aren't super popular but need exposure. Also official game threads.
This thread has no problems staying on the front page, so theres no real point in stickying.

Most of 'em are just variations on the main theme, though. And the boss battle music is repetitive and uninspired.CreatureX3 said:Kid Icarus has more amazing songs than just the Underworld theme.
Fortress theme
Overworld theme
Sky World theme
Sky Palace theme
Medusa's theme
Boss battle

We already have two variations of Samus, I don't think we need a third. The 'Fortress' and 'Overworld' themes definitely would make great fighting music. Also if they made 'Ashley's Theme' and 'DK rap' into fighting songs, pretty much anything goes. :lolShig said:Most of 'em are just variations on the main theme, though. Anyway, just because a game has a good handful of tracks doesn't mean all those tracks will go well with Smash. There's a ton of quality Mario or Zelda tracks that just won't (and shouldn't) be put in because they're simply not the type of music that's condusive to fighting to. KI and IC shouldn't have tracks that don't go well with a fighting game put in simply because there's not anything else to choose from, when they could go the route I suggested and draw from a larger bank of well-fitting, more iconic songs from other games. It's the best of both worlds.

Jiggy37 said:We don't know if Ling is a true main character or just one of many, but that one amnesia girl is certainly a story focus. Question is whether she's even a playable CO or just there for the sake of the story, though...
Edit: Clarification... What I mean is, we don't even know if Ling comes from the main army, or even what the main army is. She could be the "Sasha" of AWDS2 rather than a "Sami" or "Rachel."
David Hayter might know, if there's a Codec conversation for more characters.PkunkFury said:I'll bet the guy who does the announcer voice knows about some characters we don't

Scribble said:But saying that Dark Samus is a variation of Samus is like saying that Shadow is a variation of Sonic and Wolf is a variation of Fox (I don't want Shadow or Wolf in, though =P) Dark Samus would probably be *the* best representative of the Metroid Prime series. If you've played the first two games, you'll know what I mean.
It would be cool if Ridley AND Dark Samus made it in as PCs. Not gonna happen, though. And the main reason I don't want Midna as a PC is because I'd rather have someone which represents the LoZ series as opposed to just Twilight Princess, which is just one fish in a very big sea. Tingle does that perfectly, and represents his whole series.
I wonder why Sakurai hasn't approached Retro -- Brawl is his game, but as Retro have been the Metroid guys for the last few years....
