This was known a while ago. I think someone even tried pressing Hayter for information. He won't talk, even under torture.

Didn't he accidentally confirm Jigglypuff was returning though?

have you guys noticed how disappointing update always come at tuesday
Nov 6 - old items
Oct 30 - classic mode
Oct 23 - adventure mode video we already got from the e for all demo
Oct 16 - home run contest
Oct 9 - kirby final smash

I'm impressed. Not because of the items, which we all knew would be back, but because there were so many. Sometimes, it doesn't even seem like Sakurai is reacting at all to the delay. I mean, how big is this game?

Jigglypuff tomorrow.

So far he hasn't revealed a single character that was unlockable in either of the previous games.

I'm thinking that's not a coincidence and all of those unlockables that made it are going to be unlockable in Brawl and therefore won't be revealed until the game's out. So I'm guessing no Captain Falcon, Jiggs, Luigi, Ganondorf, etc.

I agree. I'm predicting yet another new comer this week. Just how many characters are in this game?

I predict a megaton character update tomorrow. In fact, if it is not tomorrow, I think it will be the next day. And just in case it will be the day after every day it isn't.

:D

EDIT:

I am going to freeze you with my freezie (beam).

Well I'm hoping for a new character reveal tonight.

If it's a veteran:

Mr. Game & Watch

If it's a newcomer:

Ridley

More likely it will be Krystal

:D

I was thinking about this too. I mean, Sakurai and co. had to know they were going to need to delay the game ... what, one month... two months in advance?

And yet look at the updates RIGHT before we found out about the delay. Lucas. All that Snake media. Shadow Moses Stage. Co-Op Adventure Mode.

Then the delay hits... we get Sonic the same day. Then three new stages (New Pork City, PictoChat, and The Summit), as well as Dedede AND the stage Builder all within twenty or so days since we found out about the delay.

Those are a LOT of HUGE updates concentrated into a small amount of time, IMO. Either there are so many other awesome features and reveals left that Sakurai doesn't need to slow down (because he would have known to slow down at least a month or two ago), or we are suddenly going to have all lame updates back to back for a long time since Sakurai blew his load on all the awesome ones?

I can't wait to see how it goes!

(P.S. This feels like it should be one of Jiggy's posts :lol )

Didn't Sakurai say there'd be no more than 50 characters?

I'm going to be spoiled and hope for 50 :D

50 is way beyond the capacity of my imagination. :lol I mean... that would be so unbelievably amazing.

Even 40 sounds like sooooo many.

Great post MrCheez. I'm going to fall into the thinking that Sakurai has all the updates planned out perfectly (including taking into account the delay). I believe he will continue to give us timely megatons right up through release day. :D

I disagree. I don't think it's a coincidence, but I doubt the game will have so many secret characters. The only reason SSBM is seen as having many unlockables is due to the 6 clones/extras, who were added late in the development time.

Considering only the real secret characters, there would be only 5 unlockables, and there were 2 old characters among those. I wouldn't be surprised if we got less than 10 unlockables (including a few returning characters). Of course, if he creates more clones/extras, the number could be much higher (assuming that no extra will be a standard character).

Either there are so many other awesome features and reveals left that Sakurai doesn't need to slow down (because he would have known to slow down at least a month or two ago), or we are suddenly going to have all lame updates back to back for a long time since Sakurai blew his load on all the awesome ones?

Before the delay was revealed, we got several double updates, but after it, those kinds of updates have become really rare. I think he's just keeping the old schedule but spreading the former double updates.

Homerun Contest wasn't disappointing. :( It wasn't anything great either, though, and in general you're right, Tuesdays suck pretty hard. Going further back than you did:

October 2nd - Snake movie + Shadow Moses Island
Month of September - Diddy Kong's moves, Lyn assist trophy, Wi-Fi Play (this was also the 100th update), Diddy Kong's final smash
Month of August - Ike's moves, Devil assist trophy, Subspace Army movie, Andross assist trophy + special moves mechanic
Month of July - Bowser profile, Dr. Wright assist trophy, Deoxys in a Poke Ball, Yoshi profile, Pitfall item
Month of June - Poke Balls + Groudon, Yoshi's Island stage, Pikachu's final smash, Ocarina of Time medley
Month of May - The Musicians + Battlefield + basic rules (this was the first day of updates period), Final Smash mechanic + Mario's final smash

That's only six cool updates, and one of those was only because it was the 100th by coincidence, and another was only because it was the launch of the Dojo.

He's going to have to start showing unlockable first-party characters at some point (and I already have my doubts that the full Kirby trio will be available as starters), and right now there are no remaining veterans who weren't an unlockable in at least one of the two SSB games.

I think that he's going to save all unlockables (except for maybe third party) until the game's out. I'd say he's only going to unveil 5-6 more characters from now until release, which will be the rest of the starters (all of them new.) This gives us something like 24-28 starters, all unveiled before release. I have no idea as to how many unlockables there are, but I'd guess there will be at least 10, and unlockables from previous games will be unlockable again this time.

Oh, God, that would be awesome. Especially if they brought back his battle music. His taunt would have to be that awesome laugh of his.

I'm predicting a character tonight. Wednesday seems to be the dominant character day and we've gone seven days since Dedede.

If it's a veteran: Jigglypuff or the Falcon. Though I'd prefer....do I even have to say it at this point?

If it's new: Ridley.

I wish they would put Kirby Superstar on the virtual console.
It's coming to DS, with Online Co-Op*! So basically it's the best Non-Mario sidescroller ever.

*Not sure about that Online part. I wish though.

There's still Sheik, actually.

more and more im thinking the point of predicting something is useless.

that said, from now to the end of the updates if any one of these three things are in, then something.

Jiggy, What number update are we at? I guess updates and update Days are two different stats so, I'm curious about both.
Tonight's will be the 122nd day of updates, and the 146th update.

And that's going by the "official" count only, or in other words updates that can be looked up on the Dojo on their own. So Lakitu, replays, Cooking Navi, codec conversations, and other news along those lines aren't counted in that.

Losing NPD numbers and getting playable K*****l would make this easily the worst day in gaming since...
...oh, let's say since Brawl was delay--no, wait, that still isn't that bad.
...okay, let's say the worst day in gaming since Working Designs folded.

Maybe as a followup to having six "veteran" items in one day, we'll get two veteran characters, like we used to back in the ancient times of Mario + Link and Kirby + Pikachu. >_>
