Damn that Samba De Amigo track in the final image looks awesome, it's like the trippy background you get when you are currently at A rank on a song. I wonder if that is going to be this the token Rainbow Road/Radiant Emerald style track for this game?

And hell yes for the Chu Chu Rocket mice, I had only planned to use Ulala but with BD Joe, the Bonanza Bros and now those mice there is going to be a LOT of swapping characters. This really is starting to look like a real Sega celebration, but I just hope that the Sonic tracks aren't all based on Sonic Heroes as they currently appear to be.

also in the "not a dude .... not exactly a girl" there is our awesome flagman that i hope god that it will be playable somehow

Nintendo should do a Nintendo All-Stars Racing (they don't need Mario in the title in order to make that sell). And they wouldn't kick out Link or Fox like SEGA did to poor Gilius and NiGHTS. Bastards.

Haha, you hear a voice clip of Ryo winning a race in that preview, and it sounds as if he has an intentionally flat/dull tone, just like in Shenmue. Fantastic. :D

More importantly though, is that the preview confirms that there different minigames/challenges, similar to Sega Superstars Tennis. Great stuff.

Nevermind my last post, I got the video after tinkering around with some proxy software.

The video really shows a lot of promising stuff like the detail of the tracks, multitude of game player modes (2p 4p split screen, online and single challenges). I especially liked the single player challenges they showed. The scoring system was very Outrun Online-ish.

I so can't wait for this game!

Really wanted to see these two driving an icecream truck in the game, but you're right Washington not swearing would be weird.

I got all the achievements in Sega Superstars Tennis, and I plan on doing the same in Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing.

I wonder how hard getting AAA rank in all the challenges will be; doing so in SST was insanely difficult.

The Gamesmaster review lists the commentator in the game's "negative section" (specifically saying that he should be shot). That makes me think that you aren't able to switch him off. I seriously hope that's not the case.

It would ruin the special-ness of having all the characters together.

Smash Bros. would never have become the super popular series it is today without all the characters. It was the first time.

That Gamesmaster review also refers to "Jet Set Radio tracks" and "Samba De Amigo tracks", so it seems that there are multiple tracks for a lot of franchises. I hope that not many more franchises are going to get multiple tracks, as otherwise it will reduce the amount of different franchises that are represented at all.

One of the things I loved about Sega Superstars Tennis was that plenty of franchises that didn't have a playable character had representation in the form of tennis courts/minigames, so I'm also hoping for some tracks in S&SASR that are from franchises that don't have a character.

Unless I'm mistaken, so far, we definitely know of at least 3 Sonic tracks, 2 Monkey Ball tracks, 2 Billy Hatcher tracks, 1 House of the Dead track, and supposedly, there are at least 2 tracks each for Jet Set Radio and Samba De Amigo. That's half the tracks right there, and that's only 6 franchises represented. However, most of the more popular/well-known Sega characters are covered by those; I wouldn't be surprised or particularly disappointed if characters like Opa Opa, Chu Chus, Bonanza Bros, and Akira/Jackie don't have a track, as their games don't really lend themselves well to track-design.


But I would definitely like to see tracks for:

Shenmue
Crazy Taxi
OutRun
Space Channel 5 (not really a fan, as I never played it, but there was a court in SST, and if Samba De Amigo has 2 tracks, surely SC5 should get one)

Also, a few surprises, like Puyo Pop, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, or something else totally out of left-field.

If the tracks do lack a little in variety, I hope there will at least be music from unrepresented franchises thrown in, similar to Smash Bros. Brawl.



Speaking of music, the official S&SASR site has a few videos that show off some of the courses a bit (in pre-race intros in which the camera pans around), and in the Billy Hatcher one, Chant this Charm is playing. :) I really hope that's also a track you can listen to in-game.
