Were we watching the same conference?
The VR segment was all fluff. They showed literally nothing of substance during the VR demo except Resident Evil, which as I don't want a heart attack is not a seller for me.
They showed just enough Star Wars to make me think, "OK, now we're talking... wait, what? How about some gameplay?". Nothing else in the VR presentation really grabbed my interest.
As for the other non-VR games shown, not having dates on most of it was a drag. You know a lot of that stuff we're not seeing for years.
I like the new direction for God of War.. probably. Hard to get a read. But that frame rate was super, super rough so we are a ways out from that one.
Days Gone, is Sony competing with itself now? Are we not getting Last of Us 2? Because frankly, Days Gone looks like a weak sister compared to State of Decay 2 and Dead Rising 4. Let alone a potential TLOU sequel.
Horizon, I can see the appeal for some, but it really didn't grab me. The battle sequence with the mini boss or whatever went on *forever*.
Spiderman looked awesome. Glad we're not getting another Infamous game from those dudes, I think they've found their calling.
The android Quantic Dream game.. yes please. I'm sure it's a long ways out, but anyone who likes Blade Runner is going to be picking that one up.
Overall, I think both the Microsoft and Sony keynotes were a bit disappointing. Microsoft had more substance (i.e. games we're going to see relatively soon, with polished gameplay to match) but was relatively boring, and Sony's had more energy but very little in the way of games we're going to see this year.
The REAL disappointment is Nintendo being MIA, yet again. NX had better be something amazing.
