Watched episode 9 earlier today, and it was fantastic. While I find Spartacus has little character development overall due to the confines of his story the others are pretty fair game.

I think that these characters really provide the strength of the show, and the acting overall has improved greatly.

Another great episode. The machinations of the characters is what ultimately drives the show, no matter how good the fight scenes are. Well, and the nudity. Unreal how many different fully naked ladies this show throws at you.

Episode 9 was great. This show has really turned into something special with each episode.

- I'm really taking a liking to the actress who plays Ilythia. She has that expression of bruised pride down to an art form.

This show started last week here in Holland, and although I really enjoy the action bits, I must say that the acting is horribly bad, and the people who wrote the lines for the show should really be ashamed. I'm fairly sure it's a general consensus that the first two episodes are well and truly the weakest. But from episode 3 onwards the show has just been consistently improving.

Yeah, I think the only bad acting is from some of the short-lived gladiators, Sura (in her case I think it might have only been because the actress sucked really bad at faking a British accent), and sometimes the black trainer dude. The main cast is pretty solid.

Also, I think early on the bad dialogue that tried to emulate Deadwood (which no other show should ever do) affected performances and just made them look silly. It's since gotten better.

I believe Starz renewed it for a second season before the first had had even aired. Though Andy Whitfield (Spartacus) was recently diagnosed with cancer so production has been halted.

I really haven't see a lot of great acting in this show.
