No paid DLC maps. No paid DLC characters. No paid DLC game modes.

Why hasn't anybody asked what that catch here is?

Are we going to be paying real money for random loot boxes with Star Cards and Cosmetic items?

Between this and the leaked multiplayer video I am kind of hyped for this. This coming from someone who never looked into Battlefront 1 at all.

Being a battle droid. Finally.

idk if you could ever be a droid in a previous battlefront game, never played them lol

A good single player campaign might get me to buy this game. Pretty graphics didn't stop the first game from being a boring waste of time and money.

Despite its flaws, I had tons of fun with the first game, so I'll definetely be picking this one up, too.

ps: this is still the most expensive game I got this gen, and I managed to get it 1 day early. :D

You could play as them in the pre-EA Battlefronts. One thing that I hope they can somehow implement though is the ability to play as a Droideka. It was possible in the older Battlefronts as well so it ought to be possible now if EA were to put the effort in.

On the first page about two replies down loot crates are mentioned. We know that's going to be the route as everyone has expected from the first announcement of free DLC. Why ask questions where the answer is known?

Not in EA Battlefront, but yes in the originals.

^It woild be surprising if Droidekas weren't one of the special unit classes. It's not like the Theed map roster at E3 is the final representation given what is all missing and Rey being a likely stand-in.

Titanfall 2 works the same way, and IIRC besides some cosmetics every DLC is free. So it can be an indication of what Battlefront II may be like. (as both you know are published by EA)

You don't get points as a hero. I think the linked video mentions it. Hopefully they also restrict the points if you have a vehicle.

Some players will just be damn good that they will jump from one class, right to their hero and dominate. Its just the way it works.

You're right, Thanks. I stopped watching the video 5 seconds before he mentions it.

Will the PC version have aim assist on gamepads for those who want to game on their 60" in a comfy chair instead of hunched over a small desk?

Yes I'm one of "those" people

Holy shit. That looks outstanding.

I wonder what it is running on the trailer though. I see a lot of PS4 logos but no confirmation on that.

It's good he's coming at all, but I find it curious he's not there at launch. They even had Boyega help put some shine on the game and the story mode. Why isn't he there day one? I feel like he should be front and centre like Rey and Kylo.

I imagine it's similar to the Jakku DLC in Battlefront 2015 being held back til closer to the premiere of Force Awakens.

I never understand why people are against the prequel era most of the time. The locales alone make me happy it is in the game. Beautiful stuff.

Well, I think most people are against the prequels because they weren't very good movies. The reception to using the locations, characters and designs in the game has been very positive though.

Fairly positive the first game didn't have any kind of aim assist on PC, so I guess it won't be the case here. Now BF1 do have some aim assist options so you never know...

Lack the ability to separate their disdain of the writing and acting of the films from everything else.
TBF the Battle Droids are handled obnoxiously in nearly the entire franchise.
Exception Republic Commando.

thats why I'm asking

BF4 and Hardline also had aim assist for gamepads on PC

always found it weird that Battlefront lacked it

You can unlock the Common variant of all of the Star Cards through normal gameplay but you need to open crates to get the Uncommon, Rare, and Epic variants. The crates can be earned or bought.

I skipped the first one because it didn't look compelling enough gameplay wise, but I don't even care this time. I really want to try out the new Battlefront.

Do the variants have better stats? Can't say I like the sound of that if true. Hopefully loot crates can be earned quickly and easily through regular gameplay. Not interested if they are considered rare.

Yes. Say a common tripwire mine has a cooldown of 30 seconds before it can be used again, an epic might have a cooldown of only 15 seconds.

Where's this info coming from? I never saw it.
The EA SWBF2 website under the classes info.

There's no catch, they're moving to the seasons model like a lot of other games currently. There's probably going to be cosmetic loot boxes yes, but we haven't heard anything about that yet.

I do love the changes to classes. The last game just encouraged a lone wolf play style with most people using the star cards and weapons that gave the best K/D.

Now, seeing team play like the Admirals healing teammates and Heavy troopers providing suppressive fire gets me really excited to play it.

Trailers always look good but the original Battlefront was meh, just another multiplayer game. What's important over multiplayer is the story mode campaign.
No, battlefront 1 and 2 (the good ones) relied on their mp.

Anyway I havent seen the new stuff yet but it's disappointing they're keeping star cards, did they get rid of the stupid charge system at least

I noticed during the multiplayer, heroes appear more often, at least the attacking side did, but also seem to have less health. Darth Maul wrecked them.

This trailer made me realise that I actually quite like a lot of what the prequels added to the Star Wars universe. The movies suck balls but I love the clone troopers, Naboo, the droids and all that stuff.

Anyway, the game's looking pretty good IMO.

Well that sounds fucking awful, locking objectively better game play upgrades behind rng boxes that can be bought with real money.

Especially if the max upgrades of them are broken.

They seem to be addressing a lot of the issues I had with the first game. I'll see how the beta goes before I allow myself to be swallowed by the hype.

This game is doing loot boxes? Well there goes my hype :( Thanks for nothing EA

Yeah, hype is way low if this is the case.
It seems there is conflicting info. The website says they can be earned through gameplay, while another source mentioned crates for the variants. Maybe it's both?

This is something that needs to be clarified ASAP then. I don't even like loot crates to begin with but if they end up locking good versions of star cards behind a microtransaction system, then that is all sorts of fucked up.

How long is the story mode? Are there any other modes for single player? Not interested in multiplayer but this game looks way too good.

We don't know the length yet, but Skirmish (offline multiplayer maps with bots) bas been confirmed. Skirmish can be played in 2 player splitscreen as well.
