I'd definitely recommend New Vegas over Fallout 3 as well. The main quest line in New Vegas is simply more interesting than Fallout 3's, New Vegas starts off with much more of a bang. The optional quests are seeded throughout the New Vegas main quest in such a way that you're constantly being tempted to go off the rails. The optional quests in New Vegas are simply more creative than the one in Fallout 3. Both games use the same assets but New Vegas is simply populated with more interesting and unique characters. New Vegas has better writing overall and it's kind of hard to talk about why without sort of spoiling some of the surprise.

Hmm, I didn't really enjoy my 8 hours in Fallout 3 on PS3, should I buy NV?

No. From what I heard the gameplay in New Vegas is the same as F3. The whole premise of the game is that it is "more" Fallout 3.

You should give Fallout 3 another chance. If you don't enjoy playing it - again - then the game is simply not for you, and there is nothing wrong with that.

I'd love to get the new Vegas dlc, too bad when I try to load my save the game crashes. Oh, Obsidian. Someday you will release a bug free game...

As someone who *despised* Fallout 3, New Vegas is one of my favorite RPG's ever. It is definitely not more of the same.

I hope not. They'd have to ruin everything I love about their games in order to be sure they were bug free.

I liked Fallout 3, but New Vegas is the better RPG. I remember FO3's main plot being very linear, but in New Vegas you can choose to work with several different factions, or you can say fuck 'em all and do shit on your own. The writing and characters were much better, but that's expected when we're comparing an Obsidian game to a Besthesda game. On top of all that, I prefer NV's perks, combat was improved, the customization and crafting was much deeper, hardcore mode was a great idea (even if the execution was so-so), and it was packed with a lot more worthwhile content. FO3 was a solid open world game, but New Vegas is among the very best RPG's of this gen.

The only advantage I'd give FO3 is that DC is a better setting than the Mojave, but that's not a knock on NV.

Ya, I loved the 40 hours I played of new Vegas. Wish I could finish it...

Did you try starting a new game? When you wake up on the couch, load into your main game instead. Same exact issue happened to me a couple of times, but that fixed it.

Can someone help and gift me Fallout NV from the US store? German version is censored (and only in German language too...). I will pay with PayPal instantly.

Steam math fail

Individual price cheaper then package... discount the $20 50% off not $30

This happens 100% of the time that things are on sale.

The games cost a total of $40 and are 50% off, giving you an individual total of $20. The pack normally costs $30 (a $10 discount off the normal price) but is 50% off, giving you a package total of $15.

Your savings:
- Versus individually buying normally: $25
- Versus buying the pack normally: $15
- Versus individually buying during the sale: $5

Fallout GOTY + Fallout New Vegas vanilla. 14 euros. Sooooo tempted. I have played GOTY before though, might as well just purchase New Vegas...

Ummm, the twenty minutes thing might be wrong then, or just the UK. Although it was an exaggeration, it was like 42 at the time.

Free weekends always(to my knowledge) stop at the Monday after, so this weekend will end tomorrow around 10 AM PST(or 18, UK time).

You just can't download it after a certain time then I guess?

Free weekends lately have ended Sunday. Also from Steam's news postings:

"Plus, BRINK is 50% off and available to play for FREE this weekend, starting now through Sunday at 1pm PDT."

Why do you say this? What is everything you love about the games? I'm curious how it prevents bug-testing/bug-fixing.

Then I stand corrected, thanks for that. StuBurns - I'm not exactly sure when the download period ends, but you might be on to something. Or, it just stops the download definite at 1pm PDT.

Have you tried re-starting the client? Pausing then resuming the download? Maybe completely restarting the download again? Switching servers?
Sorry, that was poor wording. I'm not download it, when games are temporary they have how long I have left to start the download next to them.

So tempted to get Fallout NV and some DLC but I just got into Borderlands for the first time so I will wait till the Christmas sale.

Must resist....
