Somebody other than me needs to compile a list of Steam Registrable games from each week of the sale. :D

Well, I did it for this week and...

Super Meat Boy (On Sale: $8.97; Regularly: $14.95): http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-SMB/super-meat-boy

Is the only game currently on sale that is registrable on Steam.

We might get to add Mount & Blade Warband/Fire & Sword as they appear in the Summer Sale list, but are not currently discounted. But I'd also be wary of Mount & Blade as they do have different CD key versions and only one kind is registrable on Steam. For example, I know copies bought on Amazon's DD service do not register on Steam.

Anyone using junctions? That is to move game installations to other harddrives.

I want to know if it has any performance drops in games or causes any problems.

All us real men use junctions. Got steam installed on a 60GB SSD, and then i have the steamapps folder on a 4TB RAID0 Array.

It's pretty boss.

Ooh. Could you let us aspiring real men in on some tips or point in the direction of some good tutorials?

Also, Arkham Asylum for some seven bucks, and then Vampire the Masquerade for five within a few short days? I love you Steam.

Nothing against Junctions, but this is honestly easier:

1) Go into your Steam folder and copy out your Steamapps folder.

2) Uninstall Steam.

3) Re-install Steam into the directory/drive of your choice.

4) Copy back your Steamapps folder.

Done.

All new Steam games will install there from now on.

Yeah but with using Junctions you have more flexibility with installing games on any drive you want back and fourth.

But with junctions you can install the client and the games you're actually playing on an SSD and have the rest of your games on your hard drive.

That's certainly an option if you wanted to move your entire library of games, but I use symbolic links so I can keep my Steam folder where it is and just move big games to wherever I want.

I wonder what's this week's midweek sale.

same. prolly asked a million times (sorry) but when does it go up?

had my first time bug on steam. played a game for 5 minutes and now showing up as 5 hours.

damnit, it annoys me a ton for some reason.

I believe if you just go into the Steam folder and delete everything except for Steam.exe and Steamapps, then copy the entire directory to wherever you want, then double click on Steam.exe it takes care of the rest. May not even have to delete anything, just moving it might be enough.

This doesn't address the issue of wanting games installed in different places from Steam of course, which is what junctions does.

Fair points. However, I think just moving the entire Steam directory is far easier and covers the majority of the average person's needs.

TouchMyBox, Sanjay, mojiimbo and Truespeed thanks for contributing with your inputs, was worried my question would get buried in this massive thread. Next game i download will be set up like this, probably Vampire Masquerade.

So for anyone unfamiliar with symbolic links/junctions here's what I do when I want to move a Steam game to another location.

1. Move the Steam game to the new directory.
2. Open a command prompt to the the steamapps\common directory and execute the following command to create the link - modify accordingly, of course.

mklink /J "C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\NAMEOFGAME" "G:\steamgames\NAMEOFGAME"

e.g.

mklink /J "C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\vampire the masquerade - bloodlines" "G:\steamgames\vampire the masquerade - bloodlines"

Your Steam client will never know the difference.

I don't know if it's been mentioned already, but don't buy Bob Came In Pieces for any price. It's a fucking crock of shit.

Yea it's pretty lame. Interesting idea marred by poor execution.

I'd have to sit and remember but what I do remember was a frustrating game that in retrospect I shouldn't have paid any money for.

I don't remember enough at this point since it was a while ago I got it, but what I do remember is I hated it about as much as Space Siege, though for different reasons.

I dislike Bob as well. The bits throwing off the maneuverability of your ship kills it, mostly.
There is a demo. Try before you buy peeps.

Precursors is on sale, as is Xenus 2 White Gold.

now, what type of drm does gamersgate use?

Oh goood...been wanting Precursors!

edit: $15. What was the general feeling on this game?

First time Civ player, nearing the 40 hour mark on my fifth game. I keep upping the A.I.'s difficulty, increasing the map size and number of opposing civilisations and city states. I've won through domination, having the largest/best civilisation by the year 2050, did a failed cultural victory run, completed a science victory and I'm not sure what the current game is going to end up being. I am aiming for cultural victory but am hedging my bets by making a sprawling empire by crushing a few other civs and city states (only when provoked!).

The amount of content there is in this game is ridiculous. Once I've played through my current game as the french I will have played all of the land mass types, I'm not certain about the number of opposing civs/city states and map sizes, I've played through the game with only half of the available civilisations, I haven't played all of the available difficulty levels, I haven't tried the online yet and I haven't even touched the DLC scenarios that came with the game or the one DLC scenario I purchased when I bought the game.

If you don't own Civ 5 and are remotely interested in it, you should snap this game up when it goes on sale next. Civ 5 is absurd. And awesome, but mainly absurd because of how much content there is in this game and how surprisingly addictive it is. I have to pace myself when playing this game, otherwise I'll blink and the day is gone or it's 3 in the morning. I did not expect to enjoy the game this much or to be this engrossed by it.

Just finished all of the missions in Just Cause 2. 30 hours/42% completion. Awesome, awesome game. I certainly pop in every once and a while to do challenges, and blow shit up. Need more 100% settlements lol.

Can someone help me set up the ACII controller fix real quick? I bookmarked this post:

1) Go here, get this

2) Unzip it somewhere you'll find it, go there and run it

3) It'll ask about creating an ini and a dll, say yeah

4) at the bottom load wireless 360 controller, then go through all the tabs and make sure compatibility mode 2 is checked and native is 1

5) Close it down, and then copy the ini file and the dll file that are in there with it into the game folder for the game you're playing

6) Enjoy the wireless 360 controller support that should have been fucking programmed into the game in the first place

But I don't see anything for compatibility mode. Native mode is checked.

Eastern European buggy. You have to do quite a bit of work to get them running right but they are pretty awesome if you go through with it.

I would like to let everyone know that Dirt3 eats savegames.
It ate mine last night. I was less than happy.
It crashes very often on my rig, especially when messing around with the GWFL interface, but I could deal with that. This last time it crashed during save though and apparently Codemasters is too cool to do a two-staged lock process here so ... bam.

Some highlights from that Gamersgate sale:

The Saboteur: $10
Pathologic: $2.50 (kind of a janky fps horror game, I like it)
AVP 2000: $2
King's Bounty: Armored Princess: $2.50 (HOLY SHIT WHY AREN'T YOU BUYING THIS NOW)
Cryostasis and Necrovision pack: $7.50
Culpa Innata: $6 (great adventure game, a gem)
Dead Space: $6.78
Penumbra Black Plague Gold: $10 (from the makers of Amnesia, this has the first and second Penumbra games, They're great)
Crossworlds and Armored Princess GOTY: $15 (has AP and the expansion for it, Crossworlds)
Space Ranger Complete Pack: $15 (great rts styled game)
Disciples 3: $12 (They say it's alright, but 2 is better. IDK)

I heard The Saboteur PC port is woefully lacking in patches and runs like shit on most PCs. Is that true? Are there any user patches?

As far as I know the patch issue is true, and around launch there were issues with the game running on AMD cards. I'm not sure if that was ever fixed officially or unofficially, or how the game performs in general now.

I will say, however, that it's worth ten dollars. I really enjoyed myself when I paid nearly full price for it around launch.

I picked it up during the last EA sale for $10, and it's alright. It's not the greatest pc port, but it runs better and looks better than my Xbox 360 version.

The game itself is wonderful, though. Very underrated.

Just noticed Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale series are now available on Gamersgate....

Is this a sign that hopefully they will be on Steam soon? I thought the only place to get them was GoG?
