I don't understand your question (EDIT: Ok now i understand) , but i will ramble on anyway.

90USD is more expensive than retail here in Aus. With the exception of EA, 2K and COD games, Namco Bandai is largely responsible for all these pricing gouging here in Australia.

98% of games on Steam are the same as the US store. The sooner Bethesda and THQ changes their Aussie publisher the better. Scamco needs to go backrupt and heads need to roll.

Scamco are the distributor, not publisher, and as far as I can tell THQ distribute their own games here.

Call of Duty 4 is retail for Mac.

But it isn't Mac compatible on Steam.

My day one, PC code should be activating the game on Steam, no matter what :(

For some odd reason I got an error purchasing a game (namely King's Bounty) via Paypal... even though I had no trouble last few days.

Did literally nothing happen, or were you taken to a screen saying that you already had Brink and to open your library, or something to that effect?

C is slide if you're moving. It has nothing to do with if you're crouching or not.
I slid at times I wasn't even near the C button, mostly going from right to left or vice versa. And climbing was really buggy.

ALL Bethesda games use steamworks now

Well I guess that's better than $60 and no steamworks, because then I'd actually have to buy it for $60. At least now we can probably find it somewhere before release for $40.

oh i wasnt proving you wrong, i was proving MRORANGE wrong :p

i was also under the impression that Hunted was steamworks but i realized you cant activate a key for it

I believe Steamworks support in games that are published by Bethesda but not developed by them or a fellow Zenimax-owned studio is something left up to the particular developers. So, Hunted isn't Steamworks because inXile are sticks in the mud... or simply didn't want to support it. :p

How dare you.

Were you running at all, or otherwise letting the SMART system automate your movement? If not, that's odd. The game has issues, but i've never had any problems with the game randomly sliding me around.

I got Rage and Skyrim, but Skyrim doesn't show up in my list anywhere (or even on my Blotter thing). I'm guessing this is a bug?
If you're in the Steam beta, opt out. That fixed it for me when Bulletstorm didn't show up on my list after being gifted it.

Blah, not even in a beta. Hrm. I'll keep my receipt if it doesn't show up soon.

Brink isn't so bad. It's got a good aesthetic and some classes like the medic and operative are pretty fun in their functionality. But yeah, it is really clunky and the gunplay isn't good. Not worth $25, but not an abomination like a lot of people made it out to be.

This is a long shot, but are you on a Mac? Although almost all Windows games are visible when on OS X, not all of them are.

Yeah, I've been playing the challenges for a bit and it's pretty cool once you unlock some things. I hope I'm able to get some games later on.

Skyrim has no price or pre-order option in the UK, so maybe it's just borked in the system.

Wait a bit and if it doesn't show up, Steam support!

It probably won't be available until next year.

Nah, Windows. Can't find any trace of it in my profile (http://steamcommunity.com/id/volcynika/games?tab=all)

It only right now shows up in my account info page thing, which is what matters, at least! Just as Skyrim, no Elder Scrolls reference in the title.

Some people here had a problem where it would show up as TestApp instead of Skyrim.

I don't think so. I had New Vegas pre-ordered and pre-loaded.
Yeah, but retailers got mad at them recently and flexed their muscle. Im guessing since they sell lots on consoles too it was easy to pressure em to 'delay' steam releases.

I think they did it with Brink and Hunted. THQ has also done it with games like Homefront and RF. I honestly don't know what's going on over there.

Eurgh, this better not happen. I don't want to wait for Skyrim.

Man, fuck the Steam backlash. It's the best thing in the industry and now people want to fuck it up. It's getting on my nerves. It's so easy to say it's just "Steam fanboys getting defensive lolol" but it's genuinely shitty business for millions of people who use the service.

But if it were your call, you're sitting as CEO of a publisher, and you're losing 30% of all your PC money, would you seriously not compensate?

I see the idea of being faithful to the people who changed the industry to allow you to do so, but you could say Valve made a living from using traditional retail before doing their best to destroy it.

I understand the reasoning from a business perspective, but I don't give a fuck. I'm a consumer. I want what's best for me.

Games being kept off Steam makes PC gaming more of a hassle for me. It's that simple.

You could probably get someone to gift it to you. There's also a chance it's Steamworks.

StuBurns said:
That's pretty crazy to me, it seems like it'd be relatively easy to 'fix' that.
It isn't that crazy. I don't know their reasoning but there are a lot of currencies and the exchange rates fluctuate. Also, there are plenty of other things they should probably fix with regards to Australia before the currency.

I certainly don't disagree. It would be ideal if I literally never had to use a second service. But I can understand the publishers slapping Steam around, and I'm sure it'll only become more common.

Hopefully sales will indicate that it's the wrong move, in the end. Then they come crawling back!

I think its it pretty guaranteed that Skyrim is steamworks, isn't it?

pretty much so. I think people get fooled by the Games for Windows sign you get on the retail box which makes people think it's GFWL

I think large publishers have leeway with steam such as percentage shares prices of there games, there is also the fact that retail games have to be cheaper than the DD game otherwise retail refuses to buy the games in bulk to sell.

Uh, how are they losing 30% of their PC money?

Stu, I think you're right that more publishers are going to be thinking about starting up their own stores but I reckon they'll wait and see how Origin does for EA before they all start trying to go up against Valve. If it turns out that the cost of maintaining the network and the additional marketing dollars they'll need to allocate now that the games aren't being put in the faces of 30 million DD hungry PC gamers every day are too high to be sustainable, then the higher margins aren't going to amount to a whole hill of beans.
