Sorry, that was poor wording. I'm not download it, when games are temporary they have how long I have left to start the download next to them.
OOooh. Yea, in my library, Brink is at 2 hours left. Eh. Hopefully it goes away soon, or my OCD will get me.

Wait, is that correct? Fallout New Vegas is only $10 @ 50% off? So it was 20 dollars...how long has it been 20 bucks?
Um, a few weeks I think.

$10 for FO3 with all of the DLC is very, very good. I doubt the GOTY edition is going to be $5. Unless you plan on waiting for a very, very long time.

Well I'm in no rush, there's a ton of games to play still, including Fallout 2, and yes I know it's not needed to enjoy FO3, but my gaming OCD can't skip it

Why do you say this? What is everything you love about the games? I'm curious how it prevents bug-testing/bug-fixing.

The games are so massive it's literally impossible to find, test, and fix every bug, especially with so much variety in the ways things can be gone about. They'd have to scale the games back to a level that would ruin them for me in order to avoid such bugs.

I'm fine with fixing the ones they can and do find, but a big-free game of this nature just isn't feasible.

Just picked up Fallout NV, growing my backlog to even more absurd lengths.

It's cool though, I've been interested in the series for a while, and the pip boy is icing on the cake.

Thanks for the offer, but RelaxMx sorted me out already. When getting the game gifted do I get pipboy for TF2 ?

Yes, and the item is also retroactive for anyone that purchased the game prior to QuakeCon. I gifted the game to my wife a while back when I first picked it up a year or so ago and we both got the Pip Boy item in Team Fortress 2.

Really tempted to buy New Vegas. Will I be Ok story wise if I get it, giving I didn't play Fallout 3?
The two storylines doesn't have anything in common as far as I know, and I've completed Fallout 3 and played New Vegas for 30 hours.

But it will never be more expensive either. Nor has Bethsada ever a missed a sale.

Yep. FO3 and FONV exist in the same universe but on opposite sides of the continent. Some story arcs intersect, but nothing super meaningful.

Today's deal is Painkiller Black...good stuff? Never played any Painkiller.

I've only played the first painkiller game and that was good at the time...if you liked serious sam you will probably like painkiller. I wish the price was cheaper though. I bet the bundle will be under $10 for holiday if you can wait.

StuBurns said:
I'm tempted by painkiller, but it's the bulletstorm people, and I know a lot of GAF mistakenly believe that's a good game.

Oh, it actually doesn't have very much in common with Bulletstorm.

Maybe I'm not the right person to ask, but if you haven't got anything else to play which is really getting your juices flowing Fallout 3 and all DLC is totally worth it at $15 - 16. Mod it up and lose yourself for weeks.

People who don't enjoy the introduction and/or want to play hardcore mode Fallout 3 should grab Fallout: Wanderer's Edition. One of the features is an alternate start mode where you pick a backstory for your character like RobCo Engineer, Enclave Deserter etc. They each have their own traits, load-outs and starting locations.

So there's 5 total DLC addons for Fallout, all of them are on sale, but only three of them come in the GOTY package? That seems...weird. Still probably in for all of it, but I just assumed GOTY would have all 5. Never really looked before.

Where are you seeing that? I got all 5 when I bought it a year or so ago. It says

"Buy Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition
Includes all five of the Fallout 3 Game Add-on Packs"

on the Steam store page.

Hit "See All" right underneath it....

So I'm a relatively new to playing games on PC since I built my first one a few months ago.

I was wondering; When did PC games start costing $60?? I though one of the appeals of PC games was the ten dollar discount because publishers didn't have to pay any licensing fees. But I see Rage and Skyrim are both $60 and I was planning on getting them on PC until I saw this.

What gives?

It's actually a bit confusing because they have both GOTY and regular on the same page. The list underneath with the "See All" is actually for the DLC packs for the regular version. Made me double-take too when I saw it.

Publisher's discretion, so you can thank Bethesda/Zenimax.

I'll ask again here: Is there a platform similar to steam to buy actual application software, like Adobe stuff or music-, illustration- or other software to work with?

Sales won't hurt either!

PC games have always costed like, 60€. Which is 70$.

Actually

60 Euros = 85.57800 U.S. dollars

Yeah. Silly Americans.

Stupid Europeans :(

Bulletstorm launched at $60 too. I bought it on sale for $12.

It's how long you have left to play them. If it says 1 hour left and it takes you 59 minutes to download it you get one minute to play it. (Or one minute to install more Visual C++ files amirite.)

Scumbag publisher that think they can pull that shit on pc too. Most publishers have this down to a science: offer the game at $60, and the early adopters won't complain, then keep lowering the price to reach a bigger and bigger audience.

Maximum profit.

Rage being £30 in the UK is pretty awesome.

Oh snap. If you gift to someone else, do the special bonuses (free Anarchy Edition upgrade and TF2 Wingstick) carry over as well? If so, I might be down.

Wondering if I should get one of the Fallout games. Never played them, but I'm kind of hesitant since I was told that it was sorta like Oblivion with guns, aaaaaand I didn't like Oblivion...

Fallout 3 is Oblivion With Guns. Fallout: New Vegas is a fantastic RPG.

It's taking every ounce of willpower to resist getting both the Fallout games, I just got the Elder Scrolls pack and I want to mod the shit out of them and give them their deserved playtime before I play anything else. Think I will wait for the Christmas sale.

Anyone know if you have to manually download the DLC for FO3 GOTY? Is it just included in the install? If I go to the store in-game, it seems like it's not included and I have to somehow magically activate it. I'm hoping FO3 DLC is just magically installed with the GOTY edition. Don't even get me started on Dragon Age:UO. Just booted that for the first time today and I doubt I'll even bother with that shit.

I know this may not technically be the right thread, but I realized I'm unlikely to get an answer in the "things that don't deserve their own threads" one:

I'm just getting around to playing Recettear, and I'm having a horrible screen tearing issue like I've never seen before. Anytime the game needs to scroll at all, there is a horizontal line like 1 inch thick distorting across the game, and it's really making the experience suffer. I'd love if someone could explain how I can fix this issue, as the game offers very minimal options for graphics.

Good news, it's magic everywhere in this bitch. Just install it and you're good to go.

d3doverrider fixes all of my screen tearing issues, it's amazing. There is a GAF thread all about it
