I have a similar question to 1-D_FTW, along the same lines anyway. I bought FO:NV during the summer steam sale and can't recall if I bought any DLC with it. I haven't installed it yet, would it show up in the library or not until in game?

Right click the game in your Steam list and select "properties". There's a DLC tab on the window which pops up which should list all the DLC you have bought.

I'm dangerously close to picking up that Fallout GOTY. I only buy Bethseda games after they release GOTY editions and the price is about right. I know that New Vegas won't be at a <10$ GOTY point for a while still. Still, Oblivion is pretty awesome and i'm still playing that.

d3doverrider fixes all of my screen tearing issues, it's amazing. There is a GAF thread all about it

I appear to still have some tearing, though it is much less and has moved to the bottom of the monitor. Any other ideas?

(The whole game reminded me of "The Road" by CM).

Maybe it's from playing through FO1 and a decent chunk of FO2 before FO3, but I actually found reading The Road to be an interesting contrast with FO3. Despite what's happened it doesn't really feel like humanity is FINISHED, just knocked down and needs to get back on their feet, while in The Road it truly feels like all hope is gone and humanity's about to wink out. Probably because the apocalypse happened relatively recently in The Road, while in FO3 it's been 200 years and we have thriving communities, and on the west coast organizations forming.

This is a great post. It's interesting because I've always felt that the "human spirit" is indomitable, and that we'll always find a way to go on, but it's pretty clear that Cormac disagrees. The Road is sort of "humanity is done for", while Fallout is more like "humanity will always find a way to survive, but might find itself in a place where extinction was the more preferable outcome."

Did you try starting a new game? When you wake up on the couch, load into your main game instead. Same exact issue happened to me a couple of times, but that fixed it.

Thanks man, didn't work but I appreciate the effort. Crashes immediately when I try to go to game play (so the intro video plays but crashes when loading in-game).

I'm tempted by painkiller, but it's the bulletstorm people, and I know a lot of GAF mistakenly believe that's a good game.

Bulletstorm is a better game than Painkiller on every level. Bulletstorm is also probably the best FPS game released this year.

Yeah New Vegas is the better RPG by far so get F3 out of the way first, it's harder to enjoy if you don't. I loved it when it came out.

I really enjoy Fallout 3 more than NV. Mechanically, NV is superior, and is better written. However, I enjoyed the quests in F3 more, and the DC wasteland was significantly more interesting to me than the mojave.
