I didn't see any Trauma feedback, a couple of gaffers bought it, any impressions?

Joe Molotov had this to say about it:

So....Trauma, well, right...I guess if you're really into hipster, indie bullshit games you'll probably really like it. It reminds me of that Dinner Date game "Oh, let's have some guy talking to himself for 20 minutes, games as art all up in this bitch, motherfucker!" You actually get to do stuff in Trauma, but well, it's just not very gamey.

Judging from the trailer, it looks like an interactive slideshow of sorts.

Just noticed some interesting stuff in the registry..

Under the Serious Sam 3 listing are Linux entries, not sure what it means or if it means anything at all (In regards to Steam on Linux)

There is also a listing for LA Noire DLC so I guess this confirms a Steam release.

I finally managed to gather the remaining achievements in Runespell: Overture today. The last couple of fights were nasty but a bit of patience allowed me to grab the final combos I needed to take the final achievement (Runespell XL).

I probably won't be back to the game unless they produce a new update but fun while it lasted :)

I played about 2 hours of Metro, but the gunplay is terrrrrrible. I'm gonna give it another shot, now that I just finished Splinter Cell Conviction (awesome game btw, easily my favorite SC).

i'm unbanned :D

very happy with steam now overall, download speeds max out my connection and i dont have to go looking for servers in other countries, can just use the london one (if the rioters haven't got to it first)

in the middle of moving house right though now, so gotta use 3g mobile broadband >.<

Terraria is a blast with a couple of friends. It's a steal @ $5.

I'm excited to get back into it with the new patch.

The gunplay stays shit the whole game. It's a shame to because there are some wonderful bits of atmosphere sprinkled throughout the experience.

You know what I just noticed is NEVER on sale?

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3.

Yep, I've been patiently waiting for it to go on sale for a while.

The most I've seen it go off was 33% in the holiday/summer sales, but it's not enough for me to bite.

I don't know, I kind of like the gunplay. I'm a sucker for atmospheric games with kinda shitty mechanics. STALKER and Metro are like right up my alley. That said, it could definitely use more polish. I just beat the game, actually, and I have no clue really what went on. :p

I'm pretty excited for the next Metro.

Wait, are you getting 5.8MB/S through mobile broadband? Or is that your standard broadband speed? Either way I want to burn my house down and move to London.

This is true. The story exposition style means that you spend a lot of time with your nose stuck in a Russian guy's pooper but if you can deal with the irritating parts of it there's a pretty immersive shooter in there somewhere.

And what makes you think your house wont be burned down there as well?

I'm fucking HATING this stealth level in Metro 2033. I'm making no progress. Fuck stealth, I'm dropping nades from now on.

What? I find the gunplay in Metro phenomenal. What makes you say it's terrible?
It's definitely among the more realistic gaming experiences. Played on ranger hardcore though, where weapon damage is pretty realistic as well.

Stalker actually has good mechanics/gunplay.

In terms of gunplay, only FEAR tops STALKER for me. The enemies took a little too much damage outside of headshots in SoC, but it's perfect in CoP. The guns just feel so lethal, it's so satisfying to deliver a close up headshot with a silenced pistol .

I think Metro has an incredible sense of place about it, depicting the hope and camaraderie of that situation in equal measure to the destitution is really wonderful.

Although I too think it's a terrible shooter.

To me they are comparable. In fact, when you guys starting shitting all over Metro shooting mechanics i was thinking of Stlaker all the time.

Metro is a fantastic game that tries to stay far from generic FPS land, so i apreciate that. Hopefuly its good qualities will make a return in the sequel.

Metro is Stalker-lite made by the people who left the Stalker team.

Yes, im aware of that. Funny, because we might see two consecutive games from them before Stalker 2 roles around.

Know a days i don't play Metro as a pure shooter. 4A designed the game so most confrontations have an optimal stealth solution, so i tend to progress by avoiding or knifing the oposition. No need to shoot much at all.

I'm not sure how anyone can honestly call the gunplay in Metro 2033 good after that level where you come out of the train tunnel and have to sprint around in the snow while enemies shoot at you from windows that are a kilometre away and hardly ever miss.

I really liked how as you increased the difficulty in metro, enemies didn't just get tougher (and ammo MUCH more sparse) but your weapon damage went up as well. It really completely changed the fights where you could kill people/monsters MUCH quicker but of course could die much quicker as well. It was so weird when I went back for my second play through and forgot to turn up the difficulty having to shoot these things multiple times in the head to kill them.

Is Metro on sale or something?

Haha, I had the exact same thought and checked the Steam site to see if I just missed the mid-week sale or something. But heck, I'm always down for talking about Metro.

Boo! I was hoping it was at least on sale somewhere else, I've missed every time it's been on sale in the last year.

best advice to enjoy Metro I can give is to go change your FOV to 60 from 45

1. Go to the user.cfg file located at X:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro 2033
the 2nd one is in steam/userdata/*some numbers*/43110/remote

2. Edit it with a text editor such as Notepad

3. Find the value called: sick_fov 45.

4. Change this value to sick_fov 60.(including the period at the end)

5. Save and close the file. Now start the game.

I couldn't figure out what was bugging me about at first then I realized your POV was so narrow and zoomed in by default It felt like you had blinders on.

Heres 45

Heres 60

Ahhh damn, I was thinking the same thing. Can't believe we didn't even get Metro in the Summer Sale :(

Pretty sure they've given away Metro for free if you pre-ordered some other game like 3 times already
