BUt why get the Steam version and the CE? Especially since the retail edition can be activated on Steam itself?jaundicejuice said:I'm buying the Steam version of Human Revolution since you can actually pre-load the game. I'll pick up the CE I pre-ordered at a brick n' mortar when I can make it out to the store. This is one of the rare few games that I want a physical copy of.

It isn't regional free, you know?Weenerz said:I was gonna buy DSHR from Russia anyways, so an extra $12 for the TF2 items is fine by me

Nobody will know until someone at GMG comments on the situation, or GMG releases the keys for activation.Nelo Ice said:if i could get confirmation that u get the tf2 stuff from gmg keys then i may preorder and i can justify it since its my bday today

But a pre-load means nothing, since you can just wait a few hours and get it then. Unless you wanted the TF2 items, which makes some sense, I guess.3chopl0x said:The answer is in the quote, for the pre-load

For anyone who isn't aware, I think all of the non-cosmetic Deus Ex HR TF2 items can already be crafted, and the recipes are ingame.Nelo Ice said:damn! decisions decisions i was on the fence already but those tf2 items just say buy me

Blizzard said:Bah, Tuesday release, so my preloaded Deus Ex will sit there staring at me.
Side note from the top seller list...why is Prototype high on the list, for full price at $30? Was there a sale or something and it's still there?

Yeah, it was like 10$ for the mid week sale.Blizzard said:Side note from the top seller list...why is Prototype high on the list, for full price at $30? Was there a sale or something and it's still there?
Lol, thanks everyone. I wasn't interested in the game but clearly wasn't paying attention to recent sales. I also notice From Dust is still on top so it's doing pretty well at $15, along with Bastion.Stallion Free said:Yeah, it was like 10$ for the mid week sale.
Hello,
I believe the dialogs are misleading. It will just need to scan the game files and make sure everything is in order. We are moving existing games over to a new download system and that is part of the conversion process. It shouldn't take too long, and it shouldn't cause any new downloads. Sorry for the confusion!
Taylor
Oh, I should mention - we've got the new and improved dialogs in the current Steam Client Beta, so those of you opted into the beta should hopefully see something that is less confusing.
Hi djbeema,
For the download system to work, it must know about the state of what's on your disk (so it knows what it has to do when it finds out there's an update to apply). The new download system has been re-written from the ground up - the existing system was written almost ten years ago.
So, the simplest way for the Steam client to make the transition is to just have the new system do a "validate", to see what's present and what's missing locally, and take over from that point on.
We have moved a few games over so far, to test things out and collect data on how well the new system works. Eventually, every game on Steam will use the new system.
I don't know why you had to download 122MB more after the validation. If you'd like to email me your log\content_log.txt file too (exit Steam first), I will take a look in there to see if I can find out why.
Taylor
Yeah, you bought TF2 items and got a free game with it. Pretty awesome haul if you ask me.classicdms said:Bought Deus Ex cuz I wanted the new sniper rifle.
Find out its already craftable and I have what I would need to craft it.
Regret nothing.
commissar said:There's a really good post on how to make individual game shortcuts for Scumm VM on the telltale forums (here)
So once the game is set up for scumm vm: for steam just make a shortcut to the scummvm .exe a normal. Then add the scumm vm ID after the file location in the target box in steam options.
Then rename the shortcut and you're done!
Also works for websites!
I launch quake live through this method so I can respond to steam chat and organise games :]
