Nice! They're indie shmups and they're pretty good. I've had them on disc for awhile now. So happy they're getting released on Steam.

On PSN. Fun stuff. Wonder if it's Rockin' Android putting them on there too.

They're shmups!

Why?

and

What would be the strongest?

Batman is based on the Batman franchise, while the rest are based on specific works. The other games have better levels, better set pieces, better pacing, more humourous cutscenes, and better characterization/expressiveness.

Personally I think LSW:C remains the best I've played (Have played LSW1/2/Batman/LIJ/LIJ2/LHP, have not played L:POTC)

Is Lego Batman really not worth bothering with then? Must say I've been tempted even though £4.99 is a tad higher than my normal impulse price for the dailies (as absurd as that sounds).

Will save my LEGO money for a different LEGO game then, thanks.

Or buy some real LEGO sets muhaha. Man I fucking love LEGO. It's a guilty pleasure.

Rightfully one of the best fantasy strategy series of all time... I put it up there with Majesty in my sacred zone.

Bad. Ass.

*Note you can safely skip immortal sovereigns and k2.

Immortal sovereigns is probably the better starting point for a new player, AG starts out difficult.

I have a problem, a friend sent me a guest pass to try Red Ochestra, but when opened (both steam and email) only I get this:

H9nLL.jpg

I can not select "Open."

Restart steam and even remove the beta and nothing ... I had never had this problem in the past

and Lego Racers
As if I don't already own Lego racers and Lego Island. And don't you dare mention Lego Island 2 because that was an abomination.

And now I have Brick by Brick in my head.

Any reason to pick up the others? I actually own Ahriman's Gift on disc but I never got around to playing it on my old computer and I haven't been able to find the disc for my new one.

edit: Oh, someone answered above. Nevermind!

I think it's worth that price, but frankly if you've waited this long until now you're obviously not an avid Lego gamer and I think you can do with skipping this one and playing some of the other options.

well, I have a problem. Steam is not connecting to the internet. I uninstalled and then installed it again in the hopes of this solving the problem, but that made it worse since now i can't even get into steam in offline mode.

Not sure what to do, so suggestions would be appreciated

"What does it do better than the countless other RTS?"

It plays entirely different from other RTS games and actually owes a lot of its design to Turn-Based Strategy games. It's more like a Real-time Turn-Based Strategy game than a traditional RTS.

There's no mining, no peons, no resource gathering. You start each match with a single town and some gold. Towns have a certain component slots which can be filled with resource or military structures that you pay for with gold. The economy works very differently from other RTSs. Instead of gathering resources, you have a surplus or a deficit that's granted from structures or units (more on units later). So you start out at 0 all around with some gold trickling in per minute, which does stockpile. Units in Kohan are also organized differently from most RTSs, it's a little bit closer to Dawn of War/Company of Heroes, but with a lot more customization. In Kohan, you recruit companie of units. Companies consist of 4 frontline units (which are all the same), two support units (which can be different) and a captain, which is normally a basic captain unit, but can also be a hero unit called a Kohan. An example of this all together would be: Say we build a Woodmill as our first component slot, that gives a +6 wood surplus. Footmen have an upkeep cost of 1 wood. If we decide to recruit a company of footmen, with a frontline of Footmen (which will be 4 wood) and then have a footman in both support slots, that totals 6 wood, so we're back to 0 for wood. If we build a second company of Footmen, we're now at -6 wood. When you go into a deficit on a resource, it reduces your gold income per minute. Wood in particular will cost you -2 gold per minute for each unit of wood you're in the hole. If we started at +20 gold per minute and got that second company of footmen we're now only at +8 gold per minute. You can also go into negative gold per minute and once you reach 0, your units begin to starve to death if they move too far away from a town.

Now, combat is also very different from other RTSs. For one, the kind of environment that you're standing on has effects in combat. So, when your companies are standing on a forest tile, they have increased defense. Furthermore, you don't really "micro" units in a traditional sense. When your company gets close to an enemy company they will engage and begin to fight each other without any real control from yourself. You can tell them to retreat or rout, but that's all the control you have over them (you can use retreating strategically to setup better positioning, though) in combat. Thus, it's very important your units are positioned wisely. If your units are on a forest tile when they engage an enemy and the enemy is not, assuming both of your companies are identical, you will win 100% of the time due to that benefit.

It's a very unique game and if Timegate Studios weren't fucking hacks who fluked into making one good game then some super shitty sequels and then super shitty Sci-Fi FPSs maybe we'd get a real Kohan 2.

Jets'n'Guns is ten times better than half the indie shit on steam. They probably blocked it (like other indie games) for being "too derivative" or niche. Eschalon: Book II wasn't on steam for the longest time for that reason, but the first game was.

Kohan looks awesome. I guess I should start with the first one. So I wonder if I should just buy the pack ("Warchest" lol) or just the first game...

Yeah I dislike whoever is in charge of the Steam approval process. They need to pull the stick out of their bum and approve Gemini Rue.

Despite their claim on the Steam page, they're fairly mediocre.

The vertical scrolling one (forgot which one, Hitogata?) is the star of the three though, but if I recall correctly it has some bizarre system that makes making progress super confusing at first (like you have to suicide yourself into parts of the boss or something wacky).

Still, it's neat to see them on Steam.

KOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IRC memories of being bewildered and lost every time I tried playing.

This. THIS. THIS!

Well, Avadon finally got approved. If I recall, that game was once submitted and rejected.

I don't understand Steam's approval process sometimes. There's times where legitimately good indie games get rejected, and then there's other times where there's a terrible indie game (no offense to anyone) gets released. Of course, I'm sure there's a lot more to it behind the scenes that consumers aren't privy to, but it's massively frustrating to see the process fail for some indie devs.

Edit:

Why have I not heard of Kohan? According to the description it was considered a good/great RTS back in the early 2000s... and that was a time where I actually enjoyed RTS games. Perhaps I was too busy with Command and Conquer and Starcraft at the time.

If I could get steam to change one thing, it would be to properly implement the window size that it always starts maximized, and that the little X in the top right corner would extend to the edges of the screen so that I can simply move the mouse to the top right corner to minimize it. I always end up clicking above the X.

Are you talking about size of games as they start or Steam itself?
