J'n'G is $30 and Valve generally don't accept independently-published games at prices above $20.

Doesn't Steam pretty much have the initial say on how much the game will sell for on Steam? I remember at one point, one indie dev suggested that he didn't have much say in the pricing.

I'm pretty sure the studio can charge whatever they want for their product. Valve will just provide statistics on price points. It would be kind of silly to not listen to them.

JNG used to be $20 or so. I got it on one of those "GET THE GAME FOR FREE FOR THE NEXT X HOURS" sites though years back.

The problem with calling them indie is that it isn't the best description. Garage Developers is probably gives a better idea of the scope people want to use when saying indie, but doesn't sound as good.

Mount & Blade Warband should fit the bill. Developed by 2 people. $30.

edit: actually, I guess they added a few people to the team for Warband.

Warband doesn't have enough interesting SP content. It's worth is essentially as a deathmatch game, fair for the $7.50 I got it at.

Many people and I will disagree with you. I spent 45 hours playing Warband, and I've put practically none of that into MP.

The SP may be light on content, but it's somehow extremely addicting. I never really cared for the MP (even with CRPG).

My 164 hours of single player time begs to differ. If that Westeros mod ever gets finished I can easily see myself throwing down another 50+. If I'm honest, I can easily see myself throwing down another 50+ regardless.

Eh, it's really repetitive and past controlling two realms it's a real hassle to maintain your rule... so much running back and forth... More fun to turn the repetitiveness into battle matches online. CRPG is a good way to ruin any game.

No I wouldn't pay 20$ for Bastion.

Damn, really? I felt like $15 was an undershoot for how much entertainment I got from it.

Well, everyone has different opinions, you could just be the one guy who wouldn't pay more then $20 for an "indie" game.

*raises hand*

I'm a cheap bastard tho, I wouldn't pay $30+ for many retail releases either =/ Games go cheap too fast these days anyways

Yeah, for some reason I can't let myself pay more than $5 for an indie title. Even $10 is too much.

If I can get AAA-titles (On sale or not) for $10 or lessyou can bet your ass an indie game better be cheaper than that.

So can anyone set the record straight about G2play? I'm extremely wary about using a cd key site with super cheap prices, but is there actually any risk? Has anyone been banned or had their game removed from steam? Is there any indication that such a thing might happen?

I bought a Modern Warfare 2 key from them way back when, and other than failing to keep me in the loop regarding stock levels (I was told I'd be included in the next batch to receive a key within the next 12 hours, but I wasn't and had to wait another day) it was fine. I attribute their lack of communication to MW2 purchases keeping them particularly busy rather than an intended act of shadiness.

Edit: At the time, Valve were quite active in removing the game from non-Russian accounts with which it was activated using a Russian key, but I've had no such troubles. The game still works online and all that, too.

Edit 2: \/ Wow, YMMV, apparently.

IntKeys are also legit (I purchased keys for FEAR 3 and The Witcher 2, both of which activated just fine), but I wouldn't bother purchasing a Deus Ex: HR key at the moment as it's an Eastern European key (Latvian, I think) and as such it only activates on such IPs. They were quick to offer me a refund, though, and I then ordered a UK key from CJS, which should arrive within the next 24 hours or so. (CJS I hadn't purchased from before.)

G2Play is a unauthoized Steam key seller despite positive experiences some people seem to have. Even typing the word G2Play on the Steam forums comes up with "unauthorized seller"

Activision blocked alot of MW2 keys back when the game launched that came from G2Play. Also Valve is the only one that sells its own games online besides EA doing it at retail, if that isn't alarm bells then i don't know what is.

Yes to all your questions, i know people from another forum that have had keys removed (but no banned Steam accounts). Just google the name G2Play and read the horror stories. The are known to deal in grey market and keys bought with stolen credit cards. Is it worth the risk just save yourself afew bucks? Also beware G2Play has sister sites set up that look similar to G2Play because G2Play itself has negative word of mouth.

I played the demo for bastion and I'd pay about no more than $5 for it.

I agree with you there. I'd pay much more than $15 for it. It's my game of the year, so far.

i'm hoping Bastion drops to 7.50USD or okay, 9.99USD -cheapo ><-

hmm yea Tropico 4 from GMG isn't Steamworks. still waiting on my refund

I really don't like the look of those Batman games. Kills it for me, unfortunately.

I don't really see what being an indie game has to do with the price, there's plenty of indie games that are better than full price releases.

20 bucks for a shmup like Jet'n'Guns does seem high though. Jamestown is half that price and looks a lot better.

I think I'll bring back some Wii games to GameStop to buy DeusEx:HR. But I want Space Marine too. Goddammit.

Edit: And I don't know how well Deus Ex is going to perform. Oh man.
