Steam Summer Sale '16 "Post your haul" Thread- GAZE UPON THY BACKLOG & DESPAIR

I thought about getting Bulletstorm but I was worried about all the GFWL issues. Did you already look into that and test it to make sure you can play it? I'd suggest doing that during the refund window just in case you have issues since it seems some people in the discussion forum for the game make it sound like it can be impossible to play on certain set-ups.

I loved the game on 360 and would really like to see another one eventually. I think current rumors are that a possible remaster might be around the corner after People Can Fly got the rights back? Not sure if that was debunked or it's still floating around.
Made it through the first chapter with little issue. The game did lock up once during the prologue turret sequence. Ctrl+Alt+Del unlocked it somehow. Might have been GFWL related, don't know. Disabled GFWL with the fix here aftewards.

My system
OS: Windows 10 Pro
GPU: GTX 970
CPU: i7 4790k
RAM: 8 GB

Transformers Devestation
Blood One Unit Whole
Hexen
Serious Sam 3 dlc
Shadowrun: Hong Kong

Still considering Ys Origin, Axiom Verge, Shantae: Pirates Curse, and Momodora.
Axiom Verge and Momodora were the only game I bought and kept this sale, both fantastic games. Both are more metroid than castlevania in design.

Spent $42.38 US on:

Amnesia: Dark Descent
Cloudbuilt
Crimzon Clover
One Finger Death Punch
Party Hard
Pony Island
Savant - Ascent
SOMA
The Stanley Parable
Valdis Story: Abyssal City

Following games were considered but I ultimately didn't pull the trigger:

Enter the Gungeon: Only $3.50 off, I could catch a better deal later, when I have less games in my backlog (wishful thinking on the backlog part)
Hyper Light Drifter: See above
The Evil Within: Had genuine interest in the game, but far too many negative reviews kinda turned me off from it
Splinter Cell Blacklist: honestly don't have a good reason to not buy, something just telling me "no." I enjoyed what i played of it on the xbox 360
Stories: The Path of Destinies: I have a feeling I can catch a 50% off or more deal later down the line
20XX: on the fence about if I want this one or not.

All good. Just wanted to make sure you weren't unaware of the potential issue and then not get around to trying it out until after the refund window. Have a good time with the game. It was one of my favorites from last generation with a surprisingly decent story considering the dialogue complaints.

Stories: The Path of Destinies: I have a feeling I can catch a 50% off or more deal later down the line

If you have a PS4 and PS Plus this is $5.99 right now. It starts a bit slow and the first roughly hour it takes to go through the story once seems basic but once you start replaying a second time through it unfolds and becomes much more interesting. I really love what it does with its storytelling. The combat and level design is simple enough but functional and with the upgrades the flow continues to speed up to the point that you can start rushing through to just get to more story stuff. I had a great time with it and still mean to go back to continue working on the other endings after I earned the true ending.

Edit: I really screwed up my edit and quoting! Anyhow...All fixed

Axiom Verge and Momodora are both fantastic and well worth it. I forget which Shantae is which but the GBA game that was ported seemed okay from the hour or so I played but I'd put that below those two games. If that's the more recent Shantae game than I don't have any experience with that one.

Ys games are neat but I'm no expert. Would that be your first? I think most people are fond of that one but I've only really put time into I and II and I think the series is a good time from that (and I think most people would put those two below most the other releases).
Haha thanks. I will buy all 3 eventually. Tempted now because they are in a bundle. It is the newer Shantae game. Never played one before but heard it is easily the best of the two on steam. I am torn between having no shortage of games to play and wanting to support these promising devs.

I have Oath but got stuck on Bird boss battle. Can't decide whether I could get into Origin. I liked Oath until I got stuck.

Yeah, I caught that at first haha. But good call on Stories, I might grab it on PS4 for $5.99, i have until the 5th to decide. With the graphical style the game uses, think it'll be a noticeable difference playing in 1080p on PS4 compared to 1440p on my pc?

Didn't intend to buy a lot of games (my backlog is huge), but ended up purchasing more than expected. Still managed to stay within a pre-set budget of € 50 however.

My pick-ups in order of purchase:

South Park: The Stick of Truth € 7,49
Cities Skylines € 11,19
Uncanny Valley € 0,99
Life is Strange € 9,99
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter € 3,79
Grim Fandango Remastered € 3,74

Total spend: € 37,19

It's sharp and clean so I didn't expect where you played it to have much of a bearing on the game but this review references both and suggests playing on PC: http://www.rpgfan.com/reviews/Stories_The_Path_of_Destinies/

The developers also gave us a code to play on PS4, and I am told that the PS4 version is more issue-prone than PC, with framerate problems and typos in the text, so if you have a choice, go PC on this one.

Edit: I played on PC and looking now they've patched it since I played and fixed the broken achievements and added graphical settings. I imagine some work was done in fixing bugs as well as the PC version is a little buggy (I got stuck and had to reset the chapter at least once but I think it happened twice).

I bought way more than I originally planned:

Deadbolt
Punch Club
Downwell
XCOM 2
Crusader Kings 2
Jackbox Party Pack 2
RE Revelations 2
Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic CD
Sonic Generations
BioShock
Lovely Planet
Oxenfree

A few of these I already own and just didn't want bring out the consoles to play them. I don't even want to think about how much I spent on all this shit I didn't need.

At work right now and not 100% sure about prices, so here goes my lil' haul:

Invisible Inc.
Tales of Symphonia
Stardew Valley
Shadowrun: Dragonfall DC
Divinity: Original Sin EE

Haul 1:
Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale $4.99
Crimzon Clover $1.99
Punch Club $2.49
Downwell $1.49
Just Get Through $0.74
Rex Rocket $2.49

Kero Blaster $5.99
Crypt of the NecroDancer $3.74
HunieCam Studio $4.61

20XX $8.99
Pharaoh Rebirth $6.99
Parallax $2.49
Concrete Jungle $6.49
Undertale $6.99
Total: $66.70

Grand Total: $81.38

Also a couple of games bought from fellow gaffers:
JumpJet Rex
Stardew Valley

There were a few more I wanted, but a trip to a convention prevented me from getting them.

I didn't get a whole lot.

OPUS: The Day We Found Earth
Costume Quest 2
Gabriel Knight - Sins of the Fathers
Perils of Man
Gray Matter
RPGs by Spiders Studio pack(Of Orcs And Men, Mars: War Logs, Faery - Legends of Avalon, Bound By Flame)

I have know idea why I bought the Spiders pack. I was reading positive-ish reviews of Technomancer and bought it on a whim. 1 hour into Mars: War Logs and I'm pretty sure I'll never touch it again.

All good. Just wanted to make sure you weren't unaware of the potential issue and then not get around to trying it out until after the refund window. Have a good time with the game. It was one of my favorites from last generation with a surprisingly decent story considering the dialogue complaints.
Up to Act III now and the game has crashed once, loading after a death. Also seen some minor visual artifacts that I hope are the game and not my GPU.

Great ROG haul here. You should add Trails in the Sky and Shadoweun though. Latter is cheap as hell for what it offers.

Steam sales are when I fill the backlog on the cheap as I'm on a budget, for £31.67 I managed to grab the following:

Bioshock 1,2 & 3
Alan Wake
Alan Wake American Nightmare
Spec Ops: The Line
Bulletstorm
Hard Reset Extended
Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

Doom and Tomb Raider were the two big ones I wanted but they just didn't hit my buy price, I have to set a hard £15 per SP game limit so I wasn't expecting them to hit that, but damn it was close. Hoping for the Winter sale.

How is Bulletstorm? Are you on Windows 10?

I haven't started it yet, but I just booted up an echo mission for you and it ran at 60fps 100% of the time, not a single drop on max settings @ 1080p. And yeah, I'm on Windows 10.

You will need to do a little tweaking to get it running perfectly, but it took less than 5 minutes for me: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Bulletstorm

Specifically I did the ADS sensitivity, mouse smoothing and GFWL tweaks. The mouse tweaks were essential for correct movement IMO, and the GFWL tweak allows you to play the campaign without needing to have GFWL installed.
