Stuff your face with Cheesy Gorditas to win Vitas

I feel like the odds are low. Something is wrong, either 1) The counter is wrong, and someone could be winning in each 15 minute period, we don't know about it, you don't know what your chances are, or 2) There's a glitch and no one is winning (it's been an hour and 15 minutes since a winner).

I think trying one now is probably a bad idea.

EDIT: FINALLY a winner. Here's what my notepad looks like now

1:00- 1:11

1:15- 1:21

1:30- 1:51

1:45- 1:54

2:00- 2:25

2:15- 3:46?

2:30-

2:45-

3:00-

3:15-

3:30-

Left time is the "beginning" time, right times are when the actual winner was added to the counter. The first winner was number 1134, latest was 1140.

Hmmm, this is really the first such instance I have heard of a lengthy counter glitch, but I don't know...

Someone be the guinea pig please :)

EDIT: KalBalboa, no I was on a regular computer.

No way has someone not tried in the last hour... That said, I'm gonna stop by one around 4:10 CST and try my luck if no one has still tried it by then.

I bought two boxes, one beef and one gordita, to share with my mother. Cut everything in half and we split it.

We came to the consensus that everything tastes the same, but different texture. lol. Our favorite was the taco with the soft+hard shell in the gordita box, and the burrito with the rice and tortilla chips in the beef box comes in 2nd.

I'll wait 'til some time in the night to enter the codes. Thanks for the tips, Shadow222. (Even if they don't work, it'll be nice to feel like they're working. Like catching Pokemon while tapping the A button. :p)

Thanks to this thread, I now feel like I must have a 100% chance of winning. Going to Taco Bell for dinner tonight :)

No way man, that doesn't work at all. You need to hit down+b the second the pokeball hits the pokemon you are trying to catch.

I press down+b too, but it's not when it hits the Pokemon, it's when the ball closes. That must be why it doesn't always work for me!

Get that box yet? Interested to see the results. It's been 25 minutes since the last winner, and only 1 winner in almost 2 hours.

EDIT: there was a winner at 4:17, it'd be pretty cool if it was you

Alright, maybe they did change it slightly? I got a box and used my sister's email and no win unfortunately (this was about twenty minutes ago).

Please keep this thread updated as I am very curious to see if they changed things. I know for certain that as of last week my strategy was working, so I want to know whats going on lol.

fffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

not that this is an official confirmation of a serious problem or anything or anything but some guy that won monday on facebook said he managed to get ahold of ventura by phone and had them check his number for him and they had no record of it ><

My hope for actually getting mine just dropped a few notches...

Not necessarily, as he may not have properly submitted the "confirm your details" page.

For the record, I won on February 1, and have received all of the emails (with the final one saying "expect delivery in 2-3 weeks"). However, I just received that last email yesterday, so it does take them awhile.

I heard that a lot of winners from last week still haven't heard, so I would give it time.

EDIT: @JetBlackPanda, don't give up hope yet, as there is a chance it could be a system glitch or something.

Some people getting code is used can blame Taco bell employees or people who guess the codes.

The codes are all similar.

At 6:07 EST, we have:

1142.

I'll go by your advice and try and do one of my two codes around 6:18, assuming the counter hasn't moved.

This is fascinating to watch. I may head over to Taco Bell tonight to give it a shot again. That would put me at 2 of my 3 max attempts.

I won on the the 30th of Jan and haven't gotten any of the emails yet. I know I'm not alone but something doesn't feel right with the way they're handing out the emails. It's just weird that they aren't doing it in order.

Wait, you won twice?! Any tips?

Edit: 1144.

I tried one code and failed, but I'll give my second a go at 6:32 EST. After that, I'll just pre-order and get my free $10 PSN card.

@KalBalboa nah I won once just the quote messed up somehow lol good luck getting them to send it to you if you do manage to win. Apparently they're just sending the verification emails to random people...

Just tried code #2 at 6:32 EST. No luck. Still at 1144.

You didn't understand the method that he described (if you were trying to follow it and not do you own thing). It's not 10-15 minutes after the last winner, it's 10 minutes after the "start" time. 6:32 is only 2 minutes after the start time, where he said you will almost never win.

I was gone for about an hour and 10 minutes and 4 more Vitas were given away, safe to assume it's back to normal?

Sorry; just now had a chance to reply to this thread. I tried around 4:20 CST and did NOT win, unfortunately. What's the word on the sequence now?

Like I said in the post above, I left for a little while, and four were given away while I was gone for a little over an hour, just as it should be. Since I've been back, one was at 6:17 and the other 6:30. Can't tell if those are the 6:00 and 6:15 ones or 6:15 and 6:30 (odds are the former, but still, you never know)

It certainly looks like it. I posted every bit of "data" I could for the sake of proving Shadow's theory.

In my defense, I was following rule two:

2. Most winning times are before ten minutes after the "beginning time" (using 4:30 as an example again, the winning time will almost certainly be before 4:40)

The previous winner seemed to win two minutes into the fifteen minute time frame, which to me invalidated rule #1:

1144 on 4:17 mtn.

I also posted when I'd give it a try in advance, hoping someone would chime in if my guesses were wrong. What can you do though- at least I got a free box.

Indeed. The basis of his theory, though, has nothing to do with the time of the previous winner. It's more like this.

5:00

5:15

5:30

5:45

Those are your 4 "beginning" times (his word for them). Within each of those 15 minute periods, there's a random time selected that's the winning time. Chances are, the time is not right at the beginning (5:02) or the end (5:14), it's probably in the middle. Most of the time one gets picked at like 5:17 (2 minutes after 15) or whatever is probably because no one claimed the winning time from the previous 15 minutes, though it's still possible the winning time in that case was just 5:17. But each 15 minute period begins anew and has nothing to do with the last. The best way to go about it, in my opinion, is to start watching it at a beginning time, 6PM for example, and wait. If you wait 10 minutes, and no one has one, there's a decent chance if you put in your code, you'll win, because the key time is more likely to have already passed (in ten minutes) than be ahead of you (only five minutes). If you wait the full time, from 6 to 6:15 and there's no winner, that SHOULD guarantee that you win if you put yours in right away. Of course, there was a long time period earlier where it seemed no one was winning, so it's not actually a guarantee. I'm probably going to wait until around midnight or one, wait for it to go from 1 AM to 1:15 AM with no winner, then put mine in. If we're right about the way it works, I should win. Hopefully.

Another winner. Last three: ~6:17, 6:30, 6:45. Odd the last two were right on the 15s, and the one before may as well have been 6:15, not sure how accurate the time I wrote down was.

Hmm. I'm considering doing the same (trying it at some late hour) but I'd rather not pay for a third box at this point and keep buying all the food. I know now that I can easily get two or three boxes for the price of one though.

Did you ask for one, or did they just give you one? I was considering entering the code on my computer, then if I don't win, texting in the code and showing them the "This code has been used" text in hopes of getting another.

It's been 16-17 minutes since the last winner. Isn't that odd? Wouldn't there be a lot of people entering around this time of the day?

I don't believe it's random. From what I've read in the thread it's based off of the way you enter your code. Most all of us entered it through the site (or app, perhaps?) and we haven't heard back aside from putting in our name, e-mails, addresses, and phone numbers. The only person that seems to have heard back through e-mail was the person that won by texting in their code and winning (something I had poor luck with as my first two entries I did through that and never got a "you lost" message and instead got a "you've already entered today" when I replied YES that I was over 18). So I really wouldn't worry too much yet as it just seems that those of us that didn't text in to win are just lagging behind.

The official rules state that the e-mail will be sent to those that win through SMS for verification and also later state that a first class letter will be sent to the winners. Honestly, I haven't really considered the idea that I should receive an e-mail and I don't think you should either. Just keep your eyes on your mailbox.

It does seem odd. But someone won at 6:45, which COULD be the one for the 6:45-7 time period (though unlikely). That means the new time period, 7-7:15 only just started, and it's unlikely someone would have won 5 minutes in, especially since the last ones were all so close to when the period started as well. I would expect a winner around 7:12 or something, if no winner comes before 7:15 it might be messed up again or something.

EDIT: Well now it's 7:15 and no win, this thing isn't as easy to track and manipulate yourself into winning as it should be!

Almost an hour now without a winner. There is no strategy. The timing is totally random.

96 winners randomized throughout the day and sometimes they happen within 15 minutes of eachother. The Guy that came up with the strategy said he watched it for an hour. Meaning we've studied it longer and know more.

Lets get 60 people together and all have a minute assigned to us.

So after some multiplication, here are my findings.

The Vita counter on the site seems to be contradicting the number of Vitas that should be won according to simple statistics. Assuming there's really one Vita every 15 minutes, there should be a total of 1344 Vitas won at the end of today. (A total of 14 days.) However, there's only 1148 Vitas won right now, a whole 196 Vitas short (49 hours worth of contest).

That could mean various things, including 1) there are people who forfeited their Vita or did not claim the Vita yet, 2) they're currently giving out less than one Vita every 15 minutes, or 3) the counter is just for show.

#1 seems most likely to me, as there could be people who have submitted the codes over cell phone and do not immediately claim the Vita. I'm sure there are quite a few who have forfeited the Vita too, for various reasons (including unfortunate technical problems).

Maybe it takes an hour off every now and then? Or every other hour? So far since I have watched it, there have been two separate occasions of about an hour where it seems no one won, but then it returns to a fairly regular 4 per hour thing. Plus I've seen someone on CAG post times that fit this theory as do the times he observed and my times (other than when there were mysteriously no winners.
