Story Synopsis:
Sorey is a human youth who grew up among the seraphim, spiritual beings not visible to humans. Sorey believes in the folklore that says "long ago, every human was able to see the seraphim" and dreams of unraveling the ancient mystery to make the world a place where people and seraphim can live together in peace.

One day, Sorey visits the human capital for the very first time. He becomes embroiled in an incident during which he pulls out a holy sword embedded in a rock and ends up becoming a Shepherd, one who casts away calamity from the world. He begins to realize the gravity of his mission, and his dream of coexistence between mankind and the seraphim becomes more intense&#8212;

And thus, the Shepherd embarks on an amazing journey with his companions.

Anime! initially reported that the anime is an adaptation of Tales of Zestiria, but it updated its article so that it only states that it is an adaptation of the Tales of "franchise" (Berseria). Bandai Namco Entertainment also characterizes the anime as a Tales of project, and not an adaptation of Tales of Zestiria specifically.

Anime Consortium Japan (ACJ) announced at its Anime Expo panel on Sunday that it will unveil a paid premium membership tier for its Daisuki service in North America starting with a beta service on Friday, July 8. The official launch date for the service will be later this summer.

The premium membership will have a monthly cost of US$5, and will allow access to simultaneous streaming for certain titles (as opposed to a time delay for standard free members), as well as streaming of older anime titles, and a lower advertisement frequency. The paid membership will also include "other special, member-exclusive goodies." While the service will launch in the United States and Canada, ACJ plans to expand the premium membership tier to other territories.

The anime series Daisuki will offer to premium members for this summer season include Tales of Zestiria the X, (...) These same titles will be available to free members and guests one week after the simultaneous streaming.

Both episode 00 and episode 01 just make it seem like they have something against Alisha

And yeah, i got Blue Gender callbacks from that scene.

Rest of Zestiria doesn't support that kind of drama at all, its just out of place and embarrasing

If you want to see torture porn, watch ReZero. Seriously, stick with it past 4 episodes and all the way to the current episode 15.... That is torture porn and awesome at the same time.

Yeah, just stick with it because the pain runs deep and it's actually a really good story/show. This past Sunday's episode (#15) broke MAL, Reddit, and 4Chan's anime sections... Yeah, THAT kind of a reaction..

No offence, but I'm a little tired of seeing this waifu war thing with Zestiria; I understand there are legitimate points, but the issue has been beaten to death. The Rose/Alicia thing was the least of the game and story's problems. And it is something the anime will address.

Only if you want to watch it without a subscription. I assume most using Funimation for their simulcast needs would have a subscription (since it's the only way to watch eps day 1 like with CR)

That stuff was written on the assumption of people wanting to watch it day 1 aka the 'simulcast' rather than the '1 week delayed' cast .

In the game, it's very sudden and they move on so quick and even poke fun at it. It's basically "kthxbye Alisha". Just very sudden and I hope it's done/portrayed better in the anime.

LOL, I think Japan definitely spoke their mind when it came to Zestiria and Alisha, so hopefully, they heard the message loud and clear and the below doesn't represent Bamco...

I still can't get over how beautiful this show is. I love the way they are going through the story pieces of the game and adding in pieces that would usually be skipped in the game. I can't wait to see Ladylake animated as well as, the sword drawing scene with Laliah's intro.

Oh, that hellion battle scene was excellent and I loved the skit part at the end.

This episode was soo good. That animation during the battle was amazing and made Sorey look so badass. The anime also makes gramps look much more OP then the game...that agility yo!

Alisha with her hair loose made me think of an older Elise from xillia.

Excellent adaptation of Sorey becoming the Shepard at the festival. The Rose x Alisha assasination attempt battle was well annimated and looked great. Then, that Sorey x Lalaih transformation looked good, with the sword looking total badass.

This was amazing! I really like how they try to flesh out Alisha more in the anime. The fight between the girls was beautiful and Sorey looked amazing in those last few scene.

That glorious flame armatization was perfect. All hail Ufotable! I thank you for adaptaing Zestiria!!

Is next week Velvet's episode? or is it the week after?

Rumor has it, that the end of this anime will show the link between Zestiria and Berseria. The second cour doesn't air for another year though..


Also, I think Bamco is worjing really hard fir screwing up with Alisha in the game by expanding her role in this show. It's actially a good call by them and tgey are doing a great job with it.

It was announced before that Velvet (already visible in the OP) will appear in episode 6 & 7 just ahead of the release of Berseria. I guess at that time we'll get to know about the nature of the link between Zestiria and Berseria.

Over use of CG aside, I'm really enjoying this more than the game so far. The extra scenes/story are helping a lot where the game fell flat.
