Team Ninja & Nintendo - NEW METROID on Wii!

The last battle will be EPIC...

If this game has a somewhat traditional metroid set up as far as levels go(Metroid map, corridor based, power-up level progression, etc), this this will sit next to mario galaxy as a part of greatness.

Quick stupid question: What's with the "I'm Samus Aran" line at the end of the trailer when she sees the scientist lady? Seems like there is something deeper going on with that moment that we are suppose to infer (since the trailer ends with it), but it kinda goes over my head? =/
I think the big deal behind Samus saying "I'm Samus Aran" what to show that she has a voice in this game. That's the first time she talked in the trailer, before then, she was silent when people interacted with her.

Putting story in Metroid should be a crime.
I think it worked fine in Metroid Fusion, and, to a lesser extent, Metroid Prime 3. As long as they implement the story in a way where it doesn't restrict the non-linear nature too much, I'll be rather fine with it. Plus, the story could also add to Metroid.

Remember me

Sweet God! If I could make love to that I would. I would even call it the next day just to talk and see how it was doing.

The ending music was beautiful, I LOVE METROID!!!!

Remember Me dude is just so happy

I want to hang out with him. seems like a pleasant guy

"Living body arms development lab"---could be more than the suit.

Maybe the scientist designed Samus in her image? I'm picturing that scene as an introduction of creator to created.
And yet that wouldnt make sense as it goes against the little story Metroid does have, would it not?

There have been duplicate Samuses in three Metroid games now. Why not a fourth?

Maybe Samus is a clone of him.

After Fusion, I could see the GFed getting a little desperate. Kinda like an Alien Resurrection thing with Ripley.

I really like the Metroid universe, and I've always wanted to see more of it.

I don't even know why I like it. Like half of it is just justifying some game mechanics that stem from the limitations of 8-bit games. I mean having an energy field over doors to keep critters out, which results in you needing to shoot them to open them? That's a bit silly. But it kinda gives it its own charm, much like some of the technobabble bullshit in Star Trek.

The backstory of Samus as a little girl being adopted by the Chozo after her parents are killed by space pirates has been told in more than one form over the years (originally a Nintendo power comic, more recently a manga), and alluded to in the Prime games as well.

I'd be a little disappointed if they weren't consistent with it, but I doubt that'd be the case.

:lol I can't stop laughing at the Remeber Me Dude avatar.

My theory: Remember Me Dude is Houston with the reverse Michael Jackson disease

How do ninja gaidens/devil may crys do in japan? I wonder if this has a chance of revitalizing the franchise in the East.

What exactly does "attestation success" imply? Seems like a strange choice of words for a log in message.

Very True. That's why i'm excited about this game becuase it will undoubtedly give us more to the story. Mother Brain, The Real Purple Ridley, Metroids, Teen Samus, some Guy who we supposedly remember, and actual City....can't ait to see more.

It depends on when this one takes place. If it takes place immediately following Super Metroid, I think it makes sense. It would also explain the Mother Brain battle which could be how the game starts out, rather than ends.

Granted I'm not an expert on the Metroid storyline. That was my reaction to seeing the scene, though.

Maybe that's the person she was talking about in Fusion. What was his name? She talks about him a lot.

Adam? No, that's the military guy in the hat. He appeared in the Zero Mission manga and looked nearly the same.

Adam, and no, it can't be him as Adam is the commander you see at the very start. "Any objections, lady?"

I just realized, some of the screens remind me of Orioto's artwork, which is definitely a GOOD thing.

Toxic Planet

Night Encounter
I noticed that when I saw the trailer at the conference. It's pretty baller to see the artwork and say "I want something like that!" and then Nintendo is like "BAM! There it is."

Thats the last movie Metroid should be looking to for inspiration.

Really I'd just be happy if they went full Alien and brought the SA-X back. I doubt they can top that as an antagonizing force.

I bet it turns out that Adam was never really Samus' lover at all.

In actuality it was

Kraid Guy could have just been some random GFed soldier that wandered a bit too deep into Zebes.

It would be very depressing if it ended up being Remember Me Guy, though.

Mind blown.

I wasn't in this thread when story details were being discussed, but judging from the trailer it seems to me that many scenes are flashbacks (Meeting with Adam, Remember Me guy before he dies, Baby Metroid/Mother Brain) and this game deals with the aftermath and ties it into her next mission.

It's like Metroid: The Samus Aran Chronicles.

If this is a timeline-spanning game, I really hope we get something post-Fusion. Fusion seems like a great launching point for a lot of story possibilities but we keep getting prequels.

We need a gif of mark 0:43 where she does a bulldog/charge shot to the mouth of an alien stat!

err, around 43 seconds in, Adam is sitting at a desk

edit: here I think this is what you were talking about
