She was charged with manslaughter, not murder. Accidental murder basically falls under involuntary manslaughter

If the bullet doesn't penetrate the body armor it is very unlikely to kill you because penetrating the body and damaging arteries, vessels, and organs are how bullets kill.

Most gun related YouTube channels are smart enough to shoot various inanimate objects with a safe backstop. This is tragic, extremely stupid, and entirely avoidable.
