I totaly agree with the eurogamer review and you are way to forgiving, personally they rated the game too high. I cannot forgive starbreeze for this game, it feels limited and has stup ai and gamemechanics. The otheworld is just plain bad. Darknesspowers are limited and the creeping dark controls are horrible, unless there is a cute scene and all of a sudden yoor character does crazy shit. The GFX are nice though with some rough spots here and there.
An 8/10 too high for The Darkness? :lol :lol
Feels limited? What do you mean? You can handle every situation in the game the way you like, with a lot of options open for you: gunplay, darklings, creeping dark. Limited is TOTALLY the different word for this, really.
Stupid AI? Ehm, first of all the AI is never ever dumb or something like that. And well, they search for cover and hunt you down when you retreat, so that's ok. Can you give any example of the stupid AI anyway?
Stupid game mechanics?? :lol :lol You're really going too far here man. And also, you just say it and don't give any examples.
Ehm, the Otherworld is not bad. Yes, in the beginning you're searching a bit where to go and they could have handled it better, but from the allied village on it's just great, fantastic, atmospheric.
Darkness powers limited? Well, you can't move planets and such, like Starbreeze wanted first, if that's what you mean. And Creeping Dark has some minor issues but overall it's great. I use it a lot to scout ahead and sneak up to enemies. It's so satisfying.
Really, I think it must suck to dislike a game like this so much. Is it just that you don't like the genre or what? I can't think of any other rating than 9/10 for this game. It has a few minor issues but overall it's a wonderful, atmospheric, polished, satisfying, GREAT action game. And I actullay think that most of NeoGAF will think the same when they get the game.
