Well, what you're actually doing is buying coins, which then can be used to buy songs and other things. There are discounts for buying large amounts of coins at once.

Plus, there's over 20 songs for free, so I'm not really going to complain about the cost of additional music. I -am- going to complain about the region locked store though (and I could use confirmation whether or not a device set to Japanese language and on the Japanese App Store can access the J-POP license songs or not - please see my novel above).

20? After playing through the tutorial and for owning the original Groove Coaster I have 7 tracks. Do you get more free after playing longer? (Not counting the free play every 48 hours.)

I'm a bit disappointed in Zero. I loved Groove Coaster, but the only parts new here are the iPhone 5 resolution and piecemeal song model. Maybe I'd be happier if they were to update the original for iPhone 5 too:) (but I'm doubtful)

Blurb taken directly from the official website. Couldn't verify it myself since I spent the morning deleting my data over and over again to try to gain access to the Japan-only content.

Yes, you unlock tracks, items etc. as you level up.

This is what is so great about Defender's Quest (besides it's a top-class TD game). All your towers (well people) can be individually custom controlled with different AI priorities such as attack strongest/furthest/fastest/weakest/slowest/etc, and on top of that you can manually override all units to attack a specific target if you need to. That and a huge branching path of tower (character) upgrades, along with no consumable items (you have spells with a cool down, kinda like those in KR).

Your choice of avatar/username pretty much means I'll always respect and listen to your opinion, so I shall give this Defender's Quest game a go.

Got myself an iPad 4. What are some games that are better played on this thing than on an iPod.

Infinity Blade 2
Jukebeat
Bastion
Rayman Jungle Run
Galaxy on Fire 2
Dead Trigger
Air Mail
Gene Effect
Aquaria
Waking Mars
Lili
The Room
Arc Squadron
Epoch
Hunters 2
Sky Gamblers Air Supremacy
(to name a few)

Totem Runner is a fairly unique and fun runner (stages, not endless). Definitely recommended while it's free. Gud art, cool looking slow-mo. Also got Apocalypse Max while free and played through the whole thing. Was surprised how good it was. Played nicely on the Mini.

Anybody looking forward to games coming this week? I saw that Raiden collection is out Dec 4, that should be great. DotEmu do fantastic ports.

Someone on TA posted that Galaxy on fire 2 will be free tomorrow, not sure if it's true though.

Update on Groove Coaster Zero's Japan-only content: confirmed it's nothing more than an IP lock. Having the game load the IAP list from a Japanese IP will reveal the full store, regardless of any other conditions - the coins don't even have to come from the Japanese App Store.

Any truth to Knights of Pen & Paper becoming even more of a grind fest post patch? A review is saying it's giving out even less money, which was already a complaint...

"For example, a typical grind battle was netting $40 a round this morning is now giving me $4 since updating."

What? That doesn't sound encouraging. I was waiting for the update before buying, now I need to first see the answer to this question...

On the plus side, Girls Like Robots updated. The major change? They fixed the app icon's name so it no longer has that amateurish ellipsis! Now there's no excuse to buy this game:)

Did they nerf the currency generation?

Oops, yeah... now that I see the question wasn't about losing saves and actually about the gold rate from battles being dramatically lower, it does seem to be true. Just fought a hard battle and got 12 gold... it's been a while, but that seems a lot lower.

Yeah just got $6 from a hard battle :| I was already pretty down on the game despite it being ultimately worth the money (if not the time). Would struggle to recommend it now.

Yeah, I was looking to give it a spin but I'm not really up for old school grinding these days. Paying to win isn't very fun either. Thanks for the confirmation Minsc.

Looks like it's the random battles they cut the loot down on-the "quest" battles deliver the same amount. I got 2 bucks from a random battle-got to my quest in the next fight-and the loot was about 26 bucks.

Most games are just prettier on the Pad, but some games, like Osmos, suck ass on iPhone/Pod, but become great on the Pad. Osmos on the Pad is one of if not "the" best game on iOS. Eliss is also alot better on the Pad, as is World of Goo. Plus pretty much all board games are better on the Pad if you're into Carc or that tupe of stuff.

So did they really bork Kingdom Rush? I was going to finally play it over Thanksgiving.

Not at all, it's still the best TD game on iOS. It just isn't as good as it was.

As someone who just got it today with a little extra motivation from a friend, I'm pretty surprised at how grindy regular battles are. Quests seem to give a nice amount, but knowing that things changed 30 minutes before I bought it kinda burns.

Looks like Lili has been updated with iPad 4 support. Anyone know what's new? Ony real difference so far is that now, I can see the developer's logo on startup lol (used to be just a black screen with sound)

The Taito ID seems to restore tracks for you but I'm unwilling to experiment since I've already spent money on things that aren't normally available to me. Plus, I haven't actually found a way to disassociate a device from a Taito ID at all.

Goddamn it, I was literally about to start my first game of this as soon as I had finished browsing GAF. Now I get the nerfed version.

hey iOS bros, got a stack of sonic 4 episode 2 codes from Starbucks. send me a PM if you want one. first come first serve!

update: all 9 codes gone! enjoy the freebie guys.

Crazy Taxi on sale for the first time, $2.99

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/crazy-taxi/id553921725

Why can SEGA get this so right on iOS yet got it so incredibly wrong on PSN / Xbox Live? This is the original game exactly as I remember it, if not better!

When an app gets iphone 5 support, that doesn't necessarily mean that its got iPad 3/4 retina support as well right? How does this look on newer iPads?

I think it looks great.

got one sonic 4 episode 2 code left. didn't work for a non-US gaffer. quote to reveal. pls let folks know if you claim it. thanks.
