Oh man, that looks amazing!

So, where is it?!
Last I heard it looked pretty complete and I guess it's up to EA (picked up publishing rights a while ago) at this point.

Skidmarks / Super Skidmarks is the reason I got an 'F' in history :)

I'm surprised at the lack of decent top-down racers on the iStore. I'd like ports of Rock & Roll Racing, Mille Miglia & Neo Drift Out (not to mention Skidmarks, obv!).
I saw something the other day that looked somewhat like Drift Out. There's a bunch of top down racers but I guess it's just hard to find them.

Dude check your emails!
I actually wish there was an option to turn off the number badge on Mail like on the Mac version. Mail count is just a meaningless number to me cause it's always just some big number rather than a basic new mail notifier.

The company I work for just released a free game called undercroft.

I haven't played it, but it looks like an old skool Eye Of The Beholder style dungeon crawler. And it's free so... hope this doesn't count as viral advertising because I'm not really selling anything here.

How is this Undercroft different from the previous Undercroft?

http://appshopper.com/games/undercroft

It was previously put out by Rake In Grass? Just a new icon and a new developer?

Kind of odd, now that I look I see that I have two Undercrofts on my phone.

I've read that the controls for Monkey Island 1 were much worse than 2. Any truth to that?

It's true. Whereas MI2 uses tap-to-move, the first game has a cursor for you to slide around with your finger almost like a trackpad on a notebook. It's pretty uncomfortable to use but it's not that big of a dealbreaker -- especially for 99 cents.

If you have MI2, you can go into the settings and turn on trackpad controls to get an idea for it feels like.

Not my department, but I believe the previous one ran into financial problems and was abandoned with a number of bugs left unfixed people were waiting for to be patched, and my company bought it outright, patched and rereleased as part of their gaming portfolio.

I think.

Like I say, I had nothing to do with it, but thought GAF might want a freeby.
Was the previous one a freeby? I genuinely have no idea.

I'm still really surprised that they didn't patch the MI2 controls back into 1, especially after would would have had to be enough complaints to put it in 2.

If it's any consolation, The Secret of Monkey Island just hit 99 cents.

!!!!!

Heck yea. Now I don't have to start the sequel without playing the original. Not that the Monkey Island chronology isn't already out of wack for me. My first and only foray into the series was Escape From Monkey Island about 9 years ago. Thought it was awesome and can't fathom (yet?) why everyone thinks of it as the bastard child of the series. Because it wasn't 2D, maybe?

Ok, how do people have 1,278 points in Scramble Challenge Edition? Is it even physically possible to enter in all the words (assuming you find them) in the three minutes available?

I cannot get past 130. :(

Monkey Kombat. :(

If you liked Escape, you'll love the first two games. They're just much more charming overall.

Openly admitting you work for the company that made a game is never viral advertising and we always welcome people who want to share their products! You should never feel like you've gotta walk on eggshells to post on GAF.

I bought Undercroft a few months ago.
Updates are always nice!
And the new price can't be beat.

Definitely one of the better CRPG homages on the platform.

Went nuts on the App Store the day and did a whole lot of blind buys, and they all turned out fucking AWESOME:

Super Mega Worm (my favorite!)
Monster Dash
Monkey Island 2
Pizza Boy
Spider
Jet Car Stunts
Super Quick Hook
Ghouls and Ghosts 2
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars

as well as ReBirth (awesome awesome awesome) and Beatwave (a great little 16-tone synthesizer).

I really thought Ghouls and Ghosts 2 was going to suck all sorts of ass, but it's pretty good. It's pretty obvious that the non-classic mode is dumbed down greatly and makes things super easy (the fact that your weapons go through walls, etc), but it works. I like it a lot, especially since it was only .99

Everything else, fucking awesome. I've been out of the App Store loop for a loooong time (DoDonPachi was my first game purchase since... EspGaluda 2, hah), and now I see myself falling right back into it. Hard.

oeeh I would love an adventure like game like Monkey Island.. Which one should I play first? Does it matter?

Secret (I), Revenge (II), then Curse (III). Curse was my favorite by far, but also the first I played. The order isn't critical, the same stuff happens in every game pretty much. Curse has the best songs and VA by a long shot as well.

Holy! Apart from the lack of audio commentary, this pretty much became the definitive version of MI2. The interface is perfect, the graphics crisp, all the issues have been fixed, intro put back in and so on. Even the classic version finally looks good, without stretched text. I bought the PS3 version, but this is the one I'm going to play. And all that for just a buck!

Yes! By far my biggest gripe with the first one. But again, surely it can't be hard to apply the graphics/control fixes from the second one to the first?

This is what I have so far. Anything else that I should pick up?

I recommend

Doodle Jump
Canabalt
Espgaluda2
DoDonPachir
Words with Friends
Osmos
Helsings Fire
Drop 7
Edge
Squareball
Swords and Poker 2
Space Miner
Super Mega Worm
Jet Car Stunts
Spider
Trees of Doom
Hoggy
Both Monkey Island games

not completely gamng related but anyone looking to get into htpc and has either an ipad or ipod touch should try out Mobile Mouse (ipad) orair mouse (itouch) as yheir control device. they work pretty well and they are only like $3 each. you dont need both...just one for each device.

I'd really like to hear your thoughts on Rebirth. I was a huge Rebirth fan, but haven't bought it yet.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm sure multiplayer is where the action is at, but what is the single player experience like?
it's actually pretty solid. they have lots of different AIs with different personalities. no campaign or anything per se, you can just set up games and play with AIs and it tracks all sorts of stats

It's ReBirth shrunk down for the iPhone, it's fantastic! There are some minor control issues that take some getting use to, and the zoom doesn't zoom in quite far enough (making turning knobs a little obnoxious), but it's a ton of fun. It also comes with six mods, but I forget off the top of my head which ones. When I bought it, it was $6.99 which was totally fair, but I don't know if that was permanent or a sale price.

Well I'll just go ahead and add it to the "buy next" list.

FRUIT NINJA UPDATE 1.4 RELEASED – GAME CENTER MULTIPLAYER!

17th September, 2010 – Today Halfbrick is proud to launch version 1.4 of its hugely successful iPhone game Fruit Ninja – featuring none other than a new multiplayer mode via the amazing Game Center system from Apple! Fruit Ninja is one of the first games ever to utilize Game Center for network multiplayer.

The new multiplayer requires iOS 4.1 with Game Center, and the devices compatible are iPhone 3GS and above, and iPod Touch 2G and above. These are technical requirements from Apple and Game Center required to run the new multiplayer mode.

To get started, log in with your Game Center account, and select New Game. You’ll see the new Multiplayer option available – slice that and you’ll join the lobby. Simply select Auto Match Up, hit Play Now and you’ll be automatically pitted against another ninja! Alternatively, send an invite to one of your Game Center friends to throw down the challenge!

The game is simple – your fruits are blue and your opponent’s are red. Slice blue fruits, avoid the red fruits and keep an eye out for the elusive white fruits – these can be sliced by either opponent and award extra points! The combos are still in full force, so you must bring your A game to the table and rack up some huge scores!

Finally, you can rest assured that as per usual, we will be updating the game with more goodies in the very near future! The secret banana mode is very nearly complete, and we will be adding more Game Center functionality including leaderboards and achievements.

Thanks for all your support and we look forward to bringing you more Fruit Ninja content soon!

Man, I am busy.

Hope you all enjoy it!

An awesome game that I don't regret buying back when it was $5. If you like old school games like Bards Tale or Dungeon Master be sure to pick this up!

I downloaded the update but don't see anything Game Center related within the game. It's not even showing up in my Game Center list of games. hmmmm

EDIT: Nevermind, it's showing up now in my Game Center list.

Fruit Ninja MP is seriously awesome, and game center matchmaking works perfectly. I'm impressed.
