I really enjoyed it. And unlike the iPhone version, it's very playable on the iPad.
Just find the lack of turn based strat games to be sad... :(

Is Pizza boy worth the money or should I wait for a price drop/deal?

Coming from PSN pricing with the PSP, getting a solid platformer for $1.99 isn't a big deal at all.

I think it's worth the $1.99, plus the support will hopefully enable the development team to create more content. The controls and art style are fantastic. It's probably about as close to a Mario-feel as you can get.

What's the difference, says under compatibility iPad in the descriptions (serious question).
The iPad is pretty much compatible with 99% of the iPhone/iPod touch apps, though they will run upscaled (or with a huge black border around).

Real iPad apps or the ones with a plus sign (universal binaries) run on the iPad at full resolution.

I figured something like that after thinking a bit more. If at some point Retina supported iPhone apps run at full resolution on the iPad as well, I guess that'd help split the difference. On that size screen, I could see it being pretty jarring to have the low res app, or play in a window... thanks.

WARNING!!!!! If you have Monkey Island 2 DON'T UPDATE!! it deletes your save files.
And also..

IT RUINS THE ICON! Damn, the first one was so much better.

No, that wouldn't really help. The interfaces and HUD's need to be redesigned for the larger screen. Otherwise you end up with giant analog sticks and buttons.

I propose a thread title change:

The Apple iOS Gaming Thread Of It's Probably Free or 99¢

Shore up all the devices a bit in the current title. ^_^

Il agree, simply because I'm not terribly fond of the current title.

Does the first Monkey Island get updated with retina resolution? I know the second one did but has the first?

I don't think so, but I bought at .99 in the hopes that it would at some point.

Very clever. Where have I seen it before? :P

Anyone else totally dying for Final Fantasy Tactics to come out?

I swear I search for it 10 times a day. . .

Just so you know, it's date has been changed to TBA, so don't expect it any time soon.

Anyone know when the next Phoenix Wright is due?

In the spirit of 0.99¢, eBoy FixPix is half off. Looks like once you're done though, there's no replay. Comments on this one, gaf?

We can do this - in fact, it would be a great test bed for future, larger scale tournaments that might be possible via Game Center. I am happy to offer prizes. However, I will need some help from you guys.

What's the best way to organise GAF tournaments? Should it have its own thread, or put it within the Fruit Ninja thread (could do some awesome bump on that) or just do it within here?

Would someone want to take on the role of an official organiser/contestant registrar?

Anything else we should be aware of?

You guys should organize it, more people will care if it's an official thing you're doing than if some random person here starts it. Bump the Fruit Ninja thread.
I'm in even without prizes but that would be pretty cool.

Looking at the New and Noteworthy list, I see several interesting-looking games that I hadn't heard about before. Anyone have any experience with Romance of the Three Kingdoms Touch, the Gamebook Adventures series, or Kowa-Oto?

I am still fairly noon to the whole iPad gaming scene... But it seems like the store doesn't allow you to search for games by genre.... :(

Go to iTunes Store in iTunes
Click the App Store tab
Click games
At the bottom right, you'll find genres.

Don't think you can do it from the iPad itself.

Fruit Ninja
Real Racing
Flight Control

Plenty more games to receive updates along the way as noted above (Angry Birds, etc.)
Fruit Ninja doesn't have leaderboards or achievements yet.

If you like Poker, Glu's Hold-em is good and fully supports GC.

Looking for cheap games to pick up for the iPhone. So far I'm getting Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja. Any other recommendations?
