Bit.Trip Beat is really excellent. I played it for a while this afternoon and just played a few games online with a friend. My first experience of multiplayer through Game Center :D

^ It appears to be the same type of game as Stoneloops, yes.

Slice It is great, recommended.

The last iPad game I bought was The Incident, and I am just about to buy Bit. Trip Beat. I have not really kept up to date with the store between both of those, Any reccomedations?

Seems Stoneloops isn't even on iTunes but I still have it along with the Coke rewards app. Weird.

i'm a cerezo fan! wanna fight?

though i haven't been since they moved from the comically oversized nagai stadium. now that they're in a place more befitting their size it's kind of difficult to get tickets :lol

i'm loving UFO on tape.
競争だ‼. But yah it kind of suck how they are rearranging everything lately. Fortunately my home town team got promoted to the MLS so that's pretty cool.

So I take it you are planning in getting pes 11 when it comes out (I hope there is gc support)?

Oh, an legumes should NOT have ears...

Slice it (59p / 99c / Lite) is fun. I'm way too dumb for it, but it's jolly good.

shibuya is awesome! I paid 99 cents for it, but free????? Everyone needs to get this. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment Mirror's Edge has very frustrating controls but I can't stop playing it!

Regarding Duke Nukem's controls, did anyone try the suggestions in the app description? Do they still suck?

*** POPULAR CONTROL SETUPS ***

Go to the MAIN MENU:

o Tap CONTROLS, then tap ANALOG CONTROLS

- Set all SENSITIVITY SLIDERS TO 50%
(this does the trick for most players)

- Also try: Check " Disable Strafe"
(uncheck "Turn, don't strafe first")

Go back to the MAIN MENU:

o Tap OPTIONS
- Uncheck TapShoot
- Check Autoaim if unchecked

o Many players like the "Tap Center of
Stick to Fire" option.

Edit: After reading many of the reviews I have to assume these changes won't fix the game.. will skip the download!

Those suggestions actually made the controls worse for me. The best I can do is to make them almost but not quite playable.

I'm quite happy with all these sales and free games lately. Picked up Shibuya for free and that Transformers SRPG for $1. Good stuff.

EDIT: Any recommendations for baseball games?

The latest update for ridge racer accelerated is rather good, the game still looks the same but there's a ton of standard tracks now which come with the game, only 3 of them ( 6 if you count reverse ) are dlc now, and there's 5 car classes with one of them being dlc still.

They also added in 6 classic tunes from ridge racer, rage racer, RR type 4 and so on.

Now if only they would add time attack scoreboards...

I played 9 Innings: Pro Baseball on my brother's phone yesterday. I didn't get a whole lot of time with it but I thought it was pretty good. Thinking about picking it up for myself.

[edit: picked it up for iPad; it's awesome but I suck at hitting)

So I came across Transylvania, a text adventure in the vein of Shadowgate. I can't tell if the game is really "good," but playing through it just a bit has been a really great nostalgia trip for that kind of graphical look, and it's neat playing through a new text adventure. Are there more out there that anyone has tried?]
Thanks for this will give it a go!

Due to all the sales lately I've bought two games I totally didn't expect were gonna be this awesome:

Peggle
Don't let its cartoony/childish looks and seemingly simple gameplay deceive you, this game is FULL of awesome little touches and the way the gameplay evolves is very unique and tons of fun!

Sparkle
Again, looked totally bleh to me in screenshots but in motion... Damn, this is one of the most beautiful games I've played thus far, VERY polished and slick and damn addictive too! Excellent atmosphere due to the great visuals combined with awesome music.

That being said, I'm still definitely most addicted to Geometry Wars: Touch, that game TOTALLY won me over.

Damn, this sucks when apps are region locked!! Stupid niko niko douga! I can't seem to find taiko no tatujin either.

How is everyone else today?

Ps: shibuya is near impossible for me past adept, how about you all?

Should I get Bit.Trip Beat for Wii or iPod Touch?

I'm playing Runner on Wii and I love it. It would be nice to just have the whole series on my Wii, but I guess it would be cool to have it portable.

Let me recommend Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2. It's on sale I think, for $2.99. I was a bit worried about the controls at first, but they are surprisingly good. THPS2 didn't have crazy combos, so you can do everything you can with a normal controller pretty accurately. Yeah it's never going to be as good as physical controls, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I was thinking about getting this but I heard it doesn't include the original soundtrack. Is that correct?

Y'know I read a review saying it did include the original soundtrack, but I just booted it up and I don't recognize any of the music (except for the menu music which is still the same).

This wouldn't be a problem if it let you play custom soundtracks in the background but it doesn't :( (You could have just made a playlist with the original songs).

Yeah normally I'm not to anal about having original music but the two games I would want it for more than anything is THPS1/2 and Crazy Taxi. I guess their is no original soundtrack on THPS2 and I know the upcoming Crazy Taxi on PSN/XBLA will not have the original soundtrack either. It's a deal breaker for me but I know some people don't care.

OSTs are important, I know if they remade jsr without j5, naganuma, and soul I wouldn't buy it.

Game with no music > No game at all

Original music (Jurassic 5 was basically the soul of the Tony Hawk series for me) would be nice, but when it comes down to it, it's not a deal breaker for me.

I wish I could 'subscribe' to app updates like podcasts, so they get downloaded here and there automatically when necessary. Oh, and patches, not the entire bloody app all over again (elements wtf?)

I don't like updating apps on my ipod/ipad as I'm using the apps. So it tends to get a bit out of date. I'm now updating 136 apps on my MBP, and will then have to resync them.

I find it fun to check for updates, I check from my iPhone a couple times a week, usually there's 5-10 updates each time. Syncing is no big deal.

I don't think it matters if you're "using" an app, I update my stuff in use all the time, it just temporarily suspends the app while it overwrites the new version, and then you can go on your way in a few seconds.

I think part of the secret is to not be a collector in terms of the stuff you've got on your phone/Touch.

With my iPod, I had a ton of stuff parked on it (and still do), but it makes updating ridiculous, and half the stuff is software I haven't used in forever.

On my phone, I cut the list of software just down to the very best games, plus whatever I'm into at any given time. Makes updates much less frequent -- maybe two or three a week, unless there's some sort of big Gamecenter-esque update.

I've played both and much prefer the controls on the Wii.

But the iPhone version has GameCenter support and some extra content.

Touch call but you can pick what you want.

(You could get both I guess, if the iPhone one is still 2$)

Also, I think only 3G iPod Touch (16GB and 32 GB) and above are supported. My flatmate tried to buy it on his 3G 8GB and he couldn't.

You guys are onto something, I think there's a long way they can go with all of this (the way downloaded apps are presented, the way updates work). I am sure they are all known issues and we'll see changes (for the better) in how it is handled, since it is all fairly sloppy right now. This whole app store is really such a giant out-of-control mess right now in so many aspects (but the overall saving grace is that there's a lot of excellent content up there).

I'd like to see "smart updates," suppose it tracks which apps you use frequently and queues updates for those, and masks/ignores the apps you have maybe used once or twice (never at all), maybe gives you a prompt when you launch it "do you want to update?" with a check to not be bothered again.

At some point I am sure they'll tighten up the link between game center and your app store "profile" and it will make all of this stuff less cluttery to navigate, people just wanna play some games on their phone :)

I love updates, I feel like the developer cares. I am glad the AppStore has such a good developer community. When a developer stops updating/communicating is what I hate, so I don't often buy ea software, I'd rather give money to firemint for an unheared of racing title that will get better over time than a well known one that they will move on to the next 'version' a few months later (I'm looking at you ea: sim city, monopoly, etc).

I do think as we see Apple toss the white syncing cable in favor of WiFi syncing (is there some sort of wireless charging too? I heard of a power mat you just place your devices on with no cables and it charges them), we'll see some sort of more automated updating and backing up / keeping in sync.

Agreed, I also hope they figure out a nice secure way of doing diffs for apps, and ota for the os. My guess is it will be coming in 5, probably will have to wait till 6 for Siri integration, but I can imagine 5 could potentially have fixed notifications and an API to apps that will allow them to expose basic data to spotlight (like on os x, calc can answer math, iBooks could show matches to words or names, epi can show recipes, etc)

(random shots in the dark, but find myself pretty close when making predictions about apple)

What are some good tower defense apps. I have TapDefense and League of Legends. There is also crystal defenders but i dont feel like dropping $8 for that.

also, what's the word on Canabalt. I'm tempted, but it's $2.99. Seems a bit steep for a game you can get online for free.

I'm just waiting for the price to come down. It's fun, but not sure it's $2.99 fun.

While I wouldn't encourage anyone to get it right now since PES 2011 is just around the corner, I'm having a great time with PES 2010 now that I'm starting to get the hang of it. I've scored some pretty sweet goals so far. The animations and feel of it makes me think Konami has a great foundation here for the future of the series on iOS.

Plants vs Zombies (fun!)
Defender Chronicles (soo soo much content, epic)
GeoDefense (pretty)
Fieldrunners (the original?)
Crystal Defenders (expensive)
Save Slyva (relaxing)
Guns N Glory (you're the bad guys, mobile 'towers')
The Creeps! (defend the bed)
Tower Madness (3D)
Elemental Monster TD (CCG in my TD)
7 Cities TD (boat defense)

So whoever mentioned tony hawks HUGE thanks, games epic, takes me way back, controls are fine once you get used to them to, shame theres no create a player option though :(.
