Patches are hard to do in a generic manner.mrklaw said:I wish I could 'subscribe' to app updates like podcasts, so they get downloaded here and there automatically when necessary. Oh, and patches, not the entire bloody app all over again (elements wtf?)
This is the thing I want the most for my iPod. I have a speaker at home that I always plug it into to keep it charged or listen to music and it would be so good to just sync it there instead of taking it out, plugging it into my laptop, syncing, unplugging it and putting it back.Minsc said:I do think as we see Apple toss the white syncing cable in favor of WiFi syncing (is there some sort of wireless charging too? I heard of a power mat you just place your devices on with no cables and it charges them), we'll see some sort of more automated updating and backing up / keeping in sync.
Minsc said:The only real bad thing about subscribing to updates for apps would be that what happens when an update comes out that breaks the app on the device, or in the case of PvZ, removes functionality (removal of the MJ zombie)? Guess you're just SoL if you have a subscription, at least with manual updates you could choose to not update an app if the update is screwed up.

Also started playing Words With Friends for the first time. Super addicting. Are there any other games like this that have such interesting connectivity? This is the perfect way of connecting friends and I hope all future mobile games take a look at this.
Interesting. Thanks for the impressions. I'm just curious, did you enjoy and/or play FIFA for psp?Mr Cola said:First impressions of fifa, bare in mind this is my only experirence with football games on the iphone.
So it looks pretty and 99% of the time there is no lag, so thats the first concern out of the way. During free kicks or corners it can get a tad dicey, but not much, it picks its times oddly its not like the whole set piece is laggy, most of it is smooth.
Controls wise its taking some getting used to, the stick seems a bit unresponsive at times, but im still getting used to it, first game was hard, second decidedly easier but there is still a learning curve to it.
Scoring is really fun, really fun, which is the best barometer for a football game imo, lots of really cool animations.
Just about to head into an FA cupso ill update with second impressions a bit later.

Seriously. Custom soundtracks should be a universal feature for every single application, it's ridiculous. I can't listen to my music if I want to play pacman or Tony Hawk 2.Mr Cola said:Also god damnit every single f'ing game needs to have it so i can listen to my own music and play!
Two ways, one is allok, worth the money, has an option "ipod" just click that BAM convertwhitehawk said:Seriously. Custom soundtracks should be a universal feature for every single application, it's ridiculous. I can't listen to my music if I want to play pacman or Tony Hawk 2.
edit: sort of off-topic. How are you guys converting videos for your 4th gen iPod or iPhone 4.
I really liked it. It's a solid enough game in its own right but seeing all the G1 characters there in 3D was enough to awaken my inner fanboy. It actually uses the licence in some ways as well, rather than just slapping it on some generic SRPG.Minsc said:This is surprisingly reviewed to be one of the better (though short, only a few hours long) sRPG style games on the iPhone recently. Probably worth grabbing if you're looking for a strategy game.

If you double tap B you perform a through pass. I had a great goal today from a through ball. Right on about the content. The developer said they wanted to focus on the controls and gameplay for this first version. 2011 should be pretty sweet with more content and even more refined controls.Mr Cola said:Ok just played pes 2010 and the controls kick the shit out of fifas. However the lack of content is criminal. I also pray they add a third button for through ball because two buttons makes the game far too easy. The look and feell is near perfect though. It's a toss up pes is easy but smooth and awesome to play
and FIFA is occasionally very good but frustrating for the most part. Pes feels like a tech demo so I'm hoping the 2011 version really steps up the content and complexity.
I find it real simple to use, Can't comment on quality since I go for the smallest size before artifacting. But it's multi-threaded and multiple quality options.TouchMyBox said:Any reason at all to use it over say Handbrake?Compressor?
If you take a video with a small resolution and encode it to the iPhone 4 preset it will up the resolution and size I think.whitehawk said:What am I doing wrong. I just had a 174mb file jump up to 250mb...
Yeah I figured that, so I changed it to the ipod video preset, and even lowered the audio quality. Video turned out 249mb lolrc213 said:If you take a video with a small resolution and encode it to the iPhone 4 preset it will up the resolution and size I think.

OMG Aero said:How do in app purchases actually work? I heard that if you remove the app from your device or get a new a device, you have to buy the content again when you re-sync. Is that true?
You don't even need to save on your PC. Purchases are tracked the same way as apps. If I buy DLC on my iPad, I can get it again for free on my iPhone directly from the store.thetrin said:That's not true at all, unless you never sync with your computer. When you sync, all your purchases are saved on your PC, which also means games you don't want taking up space on your iphone you can remove.

Me too. I'm on the iPhone 4 and it just crashes after the Popcap logo. Tried re-booting the phone, no luck.protonion said:After the nights update, Peggle crashes at the pop cap logo every time. Anyone else with this problem? I have the 3GS.

By the way, I MUST GLOAT: I'm second on the GC leaderboard and only behind Astrolad by 300-400 points. That number 1 spot shall be mine! :lol
Anyhow, no one answered a question I posted a page or two back, so here it is in case someone knows the answer:
From a few pages back:shock33 said:How do people get 140k in the online contests? I'm only getting 60-70k max, is it just the type of ball they're using? Or am I missing something?

Glass Joe said:If you keep playing, you unlock new balls with special abilities, that does have a lot to do with it. But regardless, I generally incorporate a strategy of lighting up all 4 backboards as soon and as often as possible, even if it results in me missing the basket. Those super abilities (especially the multi-ball) really rack up the point totals. Getting clean shots when it doesn't take too long to line up is part of the strategy too.
japtor said:Yeah that's basically it, light up the boards to get the power ups and try to get clean shots. The latter is pretty important cause I think there's a multiplier associated with them. With the right ball it might be better to ignore the power ups and just go for clean shots since some have an extra bonus/multiplier on top of the standard one.
Oh baw. Sorry. I just posted due to the update notes. Of course that wouldn't be a thing. : (dream said:It's a $2.99 IAP.![]()
