Well, jumping off this ship for a while. Had my phone stolen from me last night.

Not happy :/
Ah man, that sucks!

I always worry about that.

I have Find my Phone enabled and have a passcode on.

Do you have insurance?

I JUST got an iphone4 last week, verizon has a 14 return policy, if the iphone 5 comes out next month I'm going to shoot myself.

Should I return the phone now?

For the 3G, 3GS, and 4, Apple announced it at WWDC, and launched it between 1.5 weeks to a month later. This year WWDC starts on June 6.

There are rumors that Apple will not be announcing the new iPhone at WWDC this year, though.

Was literally a day off from going down the bank sorting out some details and getting insurance. :/ Had it in my to-do calender.

I'm not sure. I had blacked out, as I think my drink got spiked that night :/ All I remember is chasing after someone and tripping, as my side hurts right now, so I'm guessing someone took it from me at point blank. My friends were calling me from around 3am, and I was answering my phone and I said I was going to ask someone for directions or something, and that was the last they heard from me. Some other friends of mine found me wandering Oxford Street so I am fucking thankful they found me.

Still angry :/

Dude, it seems the phone should be the least of your worries after that experience.

Yeahh, thankful for my life right now. I mean, yeah, I care about the phone but I care more about my health and I how frankly, I'm alive. Cheers for the concern guys.

Oh and no insurance as I wrote a few posts up. Was on my to-do list :/

At least you had everything backed up.

That's the best thing about Apple/iTunes. The backups are great and you can easily sync all contacts and calendars.

As long as you have a passcode the only issue is getting the cash for a new phone which sucks but isn't nearly as bad as if you had no backups or passcode.

I've been hearing rumors that the new iPhone may launch in august or September this year though. I wish more leaks would happen soon because I only got another week before the return is up on this phone

Yeah that's the one thing I love. One of my friends keeps all his music on his iPod, and deletes it from his hard drive for some reason, so if he loses that he's fucked.

Well, guess next-gen iPhone for me? Hah.

Damn. Guess we can use the iOS gaming thread then if OT does go down.

I say we just start another thread specifically for WWDC. Since it's during E3, that will out the iOS homeboys for sure.

Kind of off topic, but I was looking through my posts and found this post by me from March 2nd:

I'd bet five slaps that this year, like every year, We'll have an iOS 5 Previews event at the end of March/beginning of April and then WWDC the beginning of June with the announcement of the iPhone 5 and public release of iOS 5.

Basically what I'm asking is who wants to slap me?

Warner and EMI now on board for iCloud. Two left to go…

Apple has signed a cloud-music licensing agreement with EMI Music and is very near to completing deals with Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment, multiple music industry sources told CNET.

The negotiations between Sony Music Group and Universal Music Group could be wrapped up as early as next week, the sources said. What this means is that signed contracts with all four of the top four record companies will be in Apple's hip pocket on June 6 when Apple kicks off the company's Worldwide Developers Conference. The sources who spoke with CNET did not know when Apple would announce the deals or roll out the cloud service.

Total noob question: how easy is it to sell an unlocked, unjailbroken iPhone 4? And would it be smarter to get 16 or 32 GB if I want to flip it? I wanted to wait for the iPhone 5, but there's a crazy good plan (especially for Canada) tempting me to sign up now.

So irritating to have to choose between three years with an excellent plan and a year old phone, or three years with a newly released iPhone and a more expensive plan with less stuff.

What's wrong with it? I hadn't noticed any issues, and I use it pretty regularly.

It's not loud enough on the incoming side, and people I speak to usually say I'm too low. It's nowhere near as useful as the one on a Blackberry or even my Droid. I had to start carrying the headset because I need my hands and the speakerphone lets me down.

My dad just bought my mom and iPad2 and I noticed I got an email from her (Sent from my iPad). So I decided to Facetime her.

She was really happy I did that (from my iphone4), so I have to say the technology is pretty awesome, and the fact that my computer illiterate mom can be able to do that with me means a lot to the both of us (I live in NY and she lives in FL).

So...good going Apple. My 2 brothers also have iPhone 4s (we didn't plan this out) and they live all over the US as well. It's nice to be able to see them face to face when talking.

One left to go…
Apple Inc. (AAPL) has reached agreements with three major record labels to let users of its new music service access their song collections from handheld devices via the Internet, people with knowledge of the deals said.

The new iTunes offering will let users store content on Apple’s servers and access it using the Web, rather than loading songs into a device’s memory, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans haven’t been made public. The plans could be previewed as early as Apple’s developers conference, set to begin June 6, the people said.

Apple, the largest U.S. music retailer, follows Google Inc. (GOOG) and Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) in letting consumers stream music from the so-called cloud instead of downloading it to a hard drive. Unlike competing products, Apple’s cloud music service won’t require users to upload online collections, two people said. Record labels are counting on cloud services to reignite sales of digital tracks, which have stagnated in recent years.

Apple has reached licensing accords with Sony Corp. (6758)’s music division, EMI Group and Warner Music Group, the people said. Universal Music Group, the largest recording company, is close to a deal, another person said. The company also would need to reach agreements with music publishers, which control different rights than the labels.

Hmmm...that's strange. I have to use mine a lot for calls to various tech supports (Dell, HP, etc.) and I've never had that issue. In fact, I turn it on and usually even the people around me can join the conversation (ie answer questions from the tech support on the phone).

Thinking about getting a white Iphone 4 at Best Buy, any reason why I shouldn't? Of course I want the Iphone 4S/5 but I can't wait until August/September.

Anyone know what Best Buy's return policy is on Iphone 4?

30 days, restocking fee dependent on your location.

I have a Road trip coming up soon, what's the best gps app?

if you are going places where you can't guarantee 3G access (different from GPS access, of course) get either Tom Tom or Navigon. full fledged GPS apps with maps on the loaded on the phone and lots of search and route options. (the cheaper apps where you buy a month of service usually need 3G to stream maps to the phone while driving.) I've used both and they're both pretty darn good.

MotionX I have found is the best.

If you're on AT&T going cross country that could be a problem. Or does it cache your route beforehand?

I've used Navigon on a friend's iPhone and it was really nice.

I've only used Navigon, but it works great. The maps are really nice looking and easy to read, the voice is easy to hear, etc. And most importantly since it doesn't rely on 3G it won't drop out if you're in a bad signal area.

I'm sure this is a standard feature in the other GPS now, but I really like the Google Local Search option in Navigon. You can just type in "Applebees" or "pizza" and it will show you the nearest restaurants, tap on the name and you get directions. Really makes entering destinations a breeze.

God I miss google navigation, seems like all the gps systems are either expensive or have a monthly or yearly rate

sigh. if all you need is navigation in areas where you have data access and don't want to spend any money (or justa tiny amount) then this is what you want:

http://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/motionx-gps-drive/id328095974?mt=8

motion x GPS. not hard to find in the app store.

99 cents for 30 days should cover your road trip. you don't need to pay afterward unless you head out on the road again.

if you're gonna drive in another country or in backwoods areas get one of the pricier solutions.

I find that I'm not as excited for the iPhone 5, or whatever they end up calling it, as I have been for previous releases. The 4 is still more than powerful enough for my needs. It's more powerful than most consumers need, really.

I guess what I mean is, there's no aspect of the iPhone 4 that feels like it's lagging to me.

Yup.

On the other hand, I'm pretty hyped to see what iOS 5 will bring.

god I hope it doesn't run like shit on our iPhone 4s

This is my big worry. I was also perfectly happy with my 3GS until it started running like shit.

Agreed. I've been perfectly happy with the capabilities of the iPhone 4. I don't see myself upgrading anytime soon. However, if Apple decides to revamp their notification system then I'm so there. It's gotten to a point where I almost hate receiving texts.

Yeah, both of those statements go without saying. haha.

I'm not that excited for it either, since I just bought the iPhone 4 a few days ago. The upgrade from my 3G to it was astounding. I can't imagine it getting better. It's really insane what this thing can do, especially since I was getting by pretty decently with the 3G.

I can just imagine the massive shit storm that would occur if Apple doesn't overhaul the notification system in iOS5. It's long overdue and everyone assumes they will take care of it with this version, but it wouldn't surprise me if they hold off another year.

With the iOS update coming a few months later than normal, I hope it's worth the wait.

I'd love them to fix the notification system, but I jailbreak and with lockinfo it's pretty much fine. I really hope they do just ripoff lockinfo and some of the other jailbreak tweaks people really love so I can stop jailbreaking altogether.

I remember saying the same thing about the graphics when I played Contra 3: The Alien Wars on the SNES. LOL!

The only reason I'm excited for the 5 is hoping it comes to other carriers like tmobile. Even a year out the iPhone 4 is still an awesome, really slick looking phone.

my 3gs keeps dying on me, its the battery. should i get the iphone 4 now or wait till the iphone 5? is it still believed to be coming out in june?

I suggest getting a 4. The techological leap from 4 to 4s, 4g, 5, or whatever the he'll they plan on calling the thing won't be as big as 3GS to 4.

If going by the regular schedule, they'll announce on June 6. Many rumors saying they won't announce on June 6 though.

If you can't get by with the 3GS go for it, I personally would have a hard time buying a 1 year old phone, even if it still is up to snuff (which the iPhone 4 is).

There's no way ios5 will run like crap on iPhone 4. Think about it. If they release iOS 5, what are they build it on? There's no iPhone 5.

Ios4 debuted with the iPhone 4. If ios5 debuts on iphOne 4, it'll be fine. Unless it's primarily changes for the ipad2, which isn't out of the question.

Of course, ios4 was previewed before the iphone4, so it's possible they announce and preview ios5 to be suspisciously released during september...
