Why should you feel bad? Because some guys with an agenda of their own want you to? It’s an amazing game that should be celebrated for what it’s doing. It’s pushing the medium forward in all aspects.

Just I see so many people hating this game to kingdom come and people who love it on many public forums or comment sections and social media sites are getting hounded for it.
I very much feel like the minority, of course some scenes aren't well handled but overall the story still flows well enough and I'm liking the new characters, even Abby in some ways.

This is a very complex topic and I don't have the time or energy to properly answer you now and this is not the place for it either, but what I see is, the modern left is not about bringing us together and living in peace (though they hide behind this idea) with each other but rather about dividing us more and more based on certain aspects of people. And this game is following this destructive ideology, that is my problem.

That's just an opinion. I'm acknowledging serious shortcomings but this game as a complete product is still very good, even some of the biggest haters respect the gameplay, visuals, music, combat, level design, animations etc.
The story is still the biggest issue and that I agree on 100%, but for me aside from some scenes it is a good enough revenge plot, whether or not the end will deflate my good feelings for it will be seen.

I mean, I accept if someone is gay and this is just a certain aspect of the person's character and otherwise is a decent person. Who cares then? But gayness is promoted in such in to your face blatant way nowadays in mainstream media that soon hetero people will be persecuted. I'm exaggerating of course but you get the point. And this makes me think, what's the point? If someone hates gays just for being gay this won't change it. So what I feel is, in reality this is a big fuck you to religious people and religion. And this is my problem with it. But as I said this is a much, much more complex topic so I just wanted to give you some idea.

If you play the whole game you should be able to see quite clearly that the main overarching theme of this game is the exact opposite of what you claim left is preaching, it is in fact a questioning quite alongside yours. All SJW things in this game are not part of core themes, they are just things that exist in Western society and are depicted as such.

No, that in itself is not the problem. And Ellie being gay is the least of the problems anyway, that in itself isn't a problem either actually. I hoped you might get my point but it seems I was unable to properly convey my message. That's why I said it's too complex to talk about this here and now.
Btw, it is so nice to see Ellie constantly smiling at a certain part of the game where I am now after a lot of pain, sadness and anger on her face.

The combat isnt a step up i feel this is a fuckin leap up, to me this is what mgsv should have been. The problem with the theme of this game --that violence is bad -- is not that, that theme has been used a lot in videogames in the last five years, but that this is the wrong genre to do so.
The game is basically trying to justify how much violence is on screen by simultaneously showing it, and they trying to make you feel guilty about that.
When it was done before, Hotline Miami, Spec op and to some extent COD. These were purely first person shooters -- so you made some sort of pact with the developer: You want to shoot? Well this is what shooting entails.
But with the Last of Us 2, a lot of people didn't come here for the gore (I partly did admittedly) they came for the story. So to then twist that into a shallow moral lesson, which forces you to go on a revenge mission whether you like it or not, seems excessively cheap, not to say hectoring. It reminds me of the film Funny Games, purely because it takes such a moral high ground.
It seems like Naughty Dog have quite a bit of contempt for it's audience, and feel like they have to lecture them in some way, like they're actually not aware they're playing a videogame or can distance themselves from it.
So I'm left with the feeling that the developers, whilst trying to lecture us, actually lost sight of the target -- Not only are they not aware this anti war message is trite, but also they were dumb enough to not understand what made the original game so special.

The encounters are superb. I save at every turn just so I can go back and mess around.

The combat is very visceral and high tension. A little simple and cinematic to control but shooting someone in the face in the last moment from prone position is exhilarating.
The graphics are fantastic but the variety is lacking. Audio is amazing as expected.
The story is kinda forced and blatant about is statement. No, the bad guys are still bad no matter how much they retcon or humane then. The game still movies way to slow. Some cinematics say very little over extreme long, stretched runtime... It almost puts me to sleep. I like the game but just barely. It's just drawn out so far.

I adored RDR2, personally. Had an issue with the pacing and controls, but everything else was amazing. I remember almost giving up on the game, pushed through and was beyond glad I did. But if the pacing and control issues weren't there, that would've been tight.

A new benchmark for the action-adventure genre and interactive storytelling in general and it exceeded all my expectations for what the next game in the series could be.

Reached the second half, finalleh. With it proving some spoilers I thought were wrong as correct, I now am cry. Not because I don't like the direction the story's taking, but because I actually do, and would have not only liked it, but been verily mystified, if it were all a surprise coming at me for the first time here.

Writing is more colorful, and the story is moving in a more dense sequencing of events., as if it has actual footing. But, then again, the opening of the first had pretty much the same exact pressure points before turning a little thinned out.
Let's see if this holds down the fort.

That's how you play that many hours. It took me like 6 hours to complete a single freaking day. I still missed some cards on that day. Viper doesn't know what he's talking about and is just going by what he reads elsewhere. Obvious troll baiting everyone in the thread.
Real talk this Platinum will easily take 60-70 hrs.

I've played for about 8 hours now. I'm in Seattle. Taking it slow. Here are some thoughts:
Not a fan of the writing so far. Feels like Left behind dlc with a big dramatic event to set a plot in motion. It's still early though, and I hope there is more depth and focus later on.
The gameplay feels smoother than the original. Simple additions like a dodge, and better platforming makes areas fun to explore.
The new clicker sounds almost made me sh#t my pants. Was NOT expecting that velociraptor shit.
Actually showing how your guns get modified blew my mind a little.
The Dr. Uckmann card made me cringe.
Playing on base ps4, but it looks great.
Unfortunately, I think I got spoiled about something to do with the main villian (a youtuber just blurted out a detail about them like it wasn't gonna affect anything - but it was a pretty "unusual" detail imo). So, as much as I am enjoying the gameplay, my mind is constantly forcing what I already know into the plot and trying to piece things together. I can only hope that the actual story and writing delivers enough depth to make what I know irrelevant.

I'm a few hours in now and I've seen a few other people say if RDR2 controlled like this it would've been much better - I completely agree. The difference in responsiveness and accuracy is night and day. Even basic interaction are so much easier and faster. The controls never inhibit you or slow you down unlike RDR2. It also looks better in motion since you aren't stumbling around your campfire to drink some coffee or circling a hitching pole on your horse like a dumbass.
Really enjoying the game. The way areas open up and allow for more exploration is a huge improvement over the first game. I love exploring in games but hate getting bogged down with filler and emptiness so this is the perfect middle ground for me.

No. It takes about 25-30 hours. There are a number of guides out there that will make it even faster than that.
I missed a few collectibles in my first playthrough which took about 20-ish hours. Grabbed them in about 2 hours and all I have to do now is grind half the game for the few upgrades that I didn't get (as you can't upgrade everything in a single run). If you have a manual save before the final chapter you can go back to any chapter and grab the missing collectibles.
