As I posted earlier, on my wireless controller, the left side of my control pad would work fine more than half the time, but it would require multiple button presses to register the rest of the time. However, all the buttons/sticks/triggers worked flawlessly. I got tired of the control pad with menus and arcade games, so I called up MS around the 25-26 of November. After being put on hold far too often, the guy said they would have a box sent to me in a "couple" of days that I could ship my controller back in.
Since they refused to send me a new one first, I went out and bought a wired controller so that I wouldn't be stuck with a big white doorstop/space heater for a week. Aside from the fact that the PC drivers for the controller are horrible, this wired controller had, amazingly enough, the same problem. The control pad would work most of the time, but on this one, the right side of the pad wouldn't register input sometimes. It had problems less frequently than the wireless one, but it's still pissing me off.
Either way, after a week, I still hadn't gotten my box. I call up MS again and ask what is going on. Give them the reference number and they say that no box was ever sent out. So now I'm going to have to wait a few more days to get my box. Well, I waited two more weeks and still no box. I call up again and get routed to some lady who is supposedly a supervisor. She tells me that no box was ever sent out because it is not their policy to send out boxes to customers to get warranty replacement. She said I would have to pay to ship my controller to them, and it would take an unknown amount of time for them to replace my controller. Yeah... thanks a lot MS.
Fast-forward to this week, and I figured I'd move to Plan B. I bought a new wireless controller at the store. I get it home, turn on the system and just try to navigate to blades and dashboard keyboard. The control pad on this controller is the worst of my three. All directions are missing inputs, and missing them much more frequently than my other two. Amazingly enough, the feedback on the triggers was much weaker on this controller than the other two. That controller went right back to the store with a complete refund.
I don't know what I have to do to get a decent controller. Three out of three is too much to be a coincidence. Hell, I have TI99 and Atari 2600 joysticks from the 70's that still work perfectly. The only thing I can figure is that most people use the sticks to move around menus and play the arcade games. Maybe after a big game that uses the control pad comes out (DOA4) more people will see the issue. Either way, I give a strike against $50 controllers that don't work perfectly, and a strike against MS Warranty Service that doesn't know what it is doing.
So I guess their fucking policies are shit. They wanted me to pay too, it fucking pisses me off.
Just to update my post. I got a call back from the supervisor asking me why I contacted the BBB I told him that promises were broken, I have your customer support on tape saying it with names and badge numbers so if you try to say that it's not them the numbers will confirm their identities. I told him if there's PSU on my door step by 10am Saturday morning, my friends willl continue to investigate the matter. He sounded pissed off he was like "you don't have to go through all that trouble we promise you that you will get your PSU as long as you send the one you have now back to us", I then told him that
"I'm not sending anything back and I'm not paying for shipping it back if I were to do so. I'm letting them take care of this matter, you and your people brought this upon yourselves." Again I told him good day and hung up. I didn't swear this time, just in case he was recording that conversation. But now action will be taken. I had to do the exact same thing when futureshop wouldn't fix my damn TV even though I had a 5 year extended warrenty. This Supervisor though was one big American wanker. He had a down south acsent, like how the people talk in rural Kentucky, lol sorry if you're from there it's just something you notice when you visit there.
I think they finally got the message, usually when a supervisor calls back you know someone is going to get in shit. I just hope someone gets fired there for all the fuck ups. I gave my brother the x360 I won from the E10M contest he's very afraid to open it give it to my nephew Xmas morning and then it not work like mine. He already told a lot of his clients what's happened to me and even linked my experience and other to this link here at GAF. People who were going to buy one at work are now afraid to waste 500+ dollars on a console and then have to go through what I did. I've bought all my consoles at launch since the early 90's I never had one problem, the X360 was the first big problem I've ever had with a console. It's a shame though the original Xbox was really good at launch I didn't have any problems till like 3 years later when the Thompson drive died out on me and even then they replaced it with no problem I didn't even have to pay shipping for the unit, they sent me a box I put the console inside took it to the post office and they put it in the back. 2 weeks later I got a return box at my door with a NEW xbox inside since the serials didn't match but my saves were still there.
I went to EB a couple of hours ago and cancelled all of my Pre-orders on games they were shocked at how MS treated me and said if it were to have been bought at EB with the warrenty I would have had a new PSU with 3 days of bringing it in. Ah well I guess MS has lost a customer this gen, and forever. Rev/PS3 FTW!! :lol
