Today in DCEU: Affleck reportedly wants out as Batman

Goodness gracious. This film is practically done now. Sometime down the line, I want to read how the troubled production led to this.

I'm well aware that this might not be the common opinion but I'm not a huge fan of his portrayal of batman. I don't think he came out looking any better than the rest of the shitty characters in BvS. I realise it's most likely because of the terrible movie he was in.

I don't mind if they keep him or not really.

Kinda funny coming from him with how often he says he is a DC fanboy.
Its the reason I kinda believe this

here was his response to Ben no longer directing.

I watch the show all the time and he doesn't say that. He says the same thing every single time. I'm not Marvel or DC. I'm just a fan of good movies. And there's a comment about how he says its dumb that you have to be expected to be on both sides. I actually got tired of him keep bringing it up, but I guess it's necessary if people are still claiming him to be for one or the other.

I don't think Campea ever really explicitly admits to being a DC fanboy, but watching him for a while you sense the preference. He's not coy about it either.

Not "Fanboy" exactly but champion for the DCEU, which he does mention literally every time DC stuff comes up.

If this happens then they need to reboot the whole thing.

Should reboot regardless. I feel like MoS, BvS and Suicide Squad have poisoned the well thoroughly. Throw it all out and start over.

FFS, Shyamalan has done with one lowish-budget film what DC hasn't been able to do with multiple expensive blockbusters (kind of spoilery):
instantly build a "Shyamalan Cinematic Universe" that people are actually hyped for and want to know more about.

Collider is fake news. Ben Affleck got such praise for his performance, a great batman, the best batman really. Don't believe these lies from the false media.

No he isn't, lol. The only thing that makes that guy Batman is that people call him Batman. He's anything BUT Batman. A dumb juiced up crossfiter douchebag that takes a 1% chance of something happening as an absolute certainty is not the world's greatest detective.

Along with a warning to take what he’s heard with a grain of salt, Campea said:

“Ben Affleck, make no mistake, he wants out. He doesn’t want to be Batman anymore.”

What

I remember thinking there was no way the protracted series of behind-the-scenes trainwrecks that stretched out between Superman IV and Superman Returns would be topped.

And now I'm betting Warner Bros is almost nostalgic for those halcyon days of semi-secret ineptitude.

At least back then, when they were flailing and fucking up every other two decisions, the results of those decisions weren't actually getting FILMED and RELEASED TO THEATERS. They had to wait a while before investigative reporters turned it all into a couple books, and then a frizzy haired talk-show-host crowdsourced a bad documentary out of it.

But now?

Man, this story is going to be good.

I could see in about 10-15 years Affleck comes back to WB to play a part in the film adaptation, Hollywoodland-style.

John Campea‏ @johncampea
So much for saying "This isn't a scoop, don't run with this". SMH. I believe what I said, but no one should be treating this as a "story".

You big dummy.

So Campea wants the credit for breaking this if it ends up true, which is why he opened his mouth.

But he wants to DISCLAIMER! NON-STORY!! GRAIN OF SALT!! the whole thing so that if it's not true he gets a pass

Lol what a turd

Who gets cast as Zack Snyder and David Goyer? In the future movie about the DCCU train wreck?

It's just amazing and kind of angering the level of incompetence at Warner Brothers and their desperate quest to *not* be Marvel while at the same time blatantly trying way too hard to be like Marvel.

I feel like I'm trying to have fun and enjoy the DCEU, and then a bunch of Marvel people swing through and kick apart all the sandcastles, and opine about how the inferior quality of said sandcastles meant that they deserved to be kicked apart.

Meanwhile they remain blissfully unaware that they come off as jerks who just like to kick apart other people's sandcastles.

You are blaming Marvel or Marvel "people" for this rumor?

Ben Affleck's career is almost predictably unpredictable. He just alternates back and forth between blocks of good and terrible movies. He's currently making worse films than during his previous nadir: 2003 when he starred in Gigli and Daredevil. If he can bust out of the DCEU and break this current streak of uninterrupted trash with even a single decent film his skin will peel off and reveal a tiny reborn Stanley Kubrick, who will make 5 years worth of classic cinema and then get hit by a bus.

hmm...maybe I should reel back on my trump sarcasm posts next time. it was a joke post.

I think he was a pretty great batman though, i've read plenty of runs and the cartoons and all that and I still have little issue with his characterization. I liked that the movie framed him as one of the villains of the story. that was interesting.

I think Gone Girl was his best movie since Good Will Hunting. in between those two...all those movies. honestly none of the ones he starred in were much good imo. like i enjoyed armageddon and the town but ehhh.

What a farce. God I can't wait for these films to come out for some real doom and gloom. I'm sick of all this speculative bullshit.

Honestly it would be best just to start this whole D.C. Universe over again. Get a decent director for Christ sake to oversee the whole project. I made the mistake of watching Batman v Superman and it was enough not to bother with any of the other films coming.

did you know that it's possible to love DC properties and want to see them adapted engagingly and respectfully and well and simply think that the DCCU does a terrible job at accomplishing that

like 99% of people who talk about how bad the DCCU is absolutely adored Batman: TAS up through JLU for example

1) shouldn't have ever piped up in the first place if he had this little confidence in it
2) shouldn't have tweeted that bullshit blaming "The industry" for his lapse in judgment
3) shoulda used the Gen. Flynn shitstorm & the PewDiePie flameout as camouflage to hide his lesser gaffe. Just...quietly pull the video, chop out the bullshit, re-up it, and when everyone wakes up tomorrow like "wait, was there some stupid Batman bullshit lost in the sauce back there?" they'll hit the channel and John can be like "uhhh.. dunno what anyone's talking about. No Batman news here!"

While he'll always be remembered as the sole high-light of the series I doubt he feels that with the constant negativity and disorder that this is what he should be doing.

This is basically how I feel. You can't have it both ways. If you want to share that you heard something, it is clearly so if it does happen, "you heard it here first". But if at the same time you want to keep it on the down low so no one can critique or hold you to it, well, that's not how shit works.

I don't even find the rlm videos particularly funny but will gladly see them parody this kind of dumb shit.

Like seriously as person who has been in this business for years know he should know better considering he ran both collider and amc. i can sorta excuse if internet reviewers who haven't had experience in "movie journalism" or newbies spout it because they don't know better. Campea should bloody know better he is just doing it for clicks and trying to cover his ass for the eventual backlash.

Voyage of the Mimi will forever be Ben Affleck's high-water mark.

Randall Park would be perfect casting as Kevin Tsujihara, in The People Vs. WB.

Kristian, Mark & Jahns all have that "wtf Campea!" looks down. I love how he says that he shouldn't be trusted and not to report on this rumour. And at the end he says "Do with it what you will internet". Lol

At least 50% of people shitting on Cyborg would actually give him and WB the benefit of the doubt if it was going in that direction.

But nope its the try hard Justice League route which even sucks in the comics.
On top of that he looks like shit in Justice League.

I own a loooot of comic books, and they're all published under DC.

These movies suck.

I'd even go so far as to say that people who think Batman is better off as a lone wolf and who think that the Bat-family is lame are, in fact, the far more casual end of the DC fan community.
