Does he believe the pressure is going away. If he does then I could see him continuing. But it's only going to get worse.

At this point if you were designs he can still play the left-wingers forced me to do this card.

Surely I hope it chips away at his mental state, but he needs to stay alive so that he may fully absorb his humiliation and loss on a worldwide scale.

I agree, any of the other options will make him a martyr, "he worked so hard he died and Jesus took him", "they forced him out with their hatred and disrespect", "the socialists have set him up, FAKE NEWS!". He needs to either be ousted by the will of the people or something comes to light that is so solid and controversial he loses all support, though anything less than the full unedited piss tape is unlikely to matter to his base support.

Its interesting how that works isn't it. Hannity and his lackeys start the attack on Ukraine yesterday and within 24 hours the Russian Bot army is in full swing on Hannity and Lackeys narrative.

I've started to see a lot of conservatives supporting and posting quotes of Pence recently. He seems to be campaigning amongst swing states and conservatives in general. If Trump takes a month off, I think Trump is going to resign and Pence will take over. At this point, I think Trump and Republicans know they're in hot water. After Trump Jr. scandal, they are looking at the escape options that best saves all of their asses. Trump pardons everyone then resigns and passes the torch on to Pence. Right wing media will try to make him out as a martyr and blaming liberals for making Trump resign. Trump and co. won't face justice thus leaving some ambiguity as to what happened between Trump and Russia. Right wing media will also focus a lot on Pence while the rest of the world won't care as much. I have to imagine most everyone affiliated with Trump is telling him to throw in the towel at this point. Bannon likely will be able to stay in his current position.

There's nothing in Trump's personality or history that supports him resigning now. He sees the world in strict, simple terms: winners and losers. Those who dominate and those who get dominated. Resigning this early would be losing.

Not winning re-election, and thus not matching Reagan/Clinton/W Bush/Obama, all of whom he has criticized multiple times, would eat his soul forever. He's staying.

After watching the Frontline about Clinton and Trump this is 100% accurate. His father drilled this mentality into his head from birth.

The only argument I could see for Trump resigning is him wanting to get back to his old life....but considering he seems to spend the vast majority of his time watching TV and other forms of recreation, I guess it's not that different.

I think Pence would then take over and it would definitely NOT be a lame duck presidency. GOP would jump right back into action minus a few of the more controversial pieces of legislature (like the "Muslim Ban"). A fair number of Dems would probably work with him as well after six months of stagnation.

At least with Trump at the helm, the GOP continues to bleed. With Pence as president, I think they would stabilize.
