Uncharted 3: Subway's Deception Multiplayer Discussion [New Patch Released]

Yeah I definitely don't enjoy this as much as the beta. I think the new movement speed alone breaks the enjoyment for me, and the hit detection doesn't seem nearly as good. Plus, I just had it so I couldn't put any inputs in at all in a match. It's still fun, but not as fun as it once was... I'll play more to get a better feel though.

The impact sounds also helped mask lag a bit, or at least diminish its presence because they made you feel like you were accomplishing something, moving towards the goal of killing a newb. You knew your bullets were doing fucking something. Now you have no idea. The GMAL is really annoying without this.
Agreed. Seems like a really odd exclusion

Ah, lucky you, I was wondering how in Earth I could have one code from where we live. Haha, have fun.

Actually I didn't get a code, there's an account sharing going on in that thread, go check it out!

Yep.

Anyone pick up the dynamic theme from the giveaway yet? If yes, is it any good?
Pretty sure it's the same dynamic theme that's was released to the store a while ago (or was it only for PSN+?).

As for the other bonuses, the only ones I can imagine being worth it are Drake's AK (saves you from getting those treasures by chance) and maybe the Drake skin. Whatever the cash bonus is, it probably isn't worth it.

-If you get killed by someone on your team after taking damage from an enemy they get the kill. If you kill yourself then sure, I think they should get the kill but not when your dumbass team-mate hits you with a rocket. And the amount of damage you have to take for the enemy to "earn" the kill is so low.
I just had this happen after I killed the enemy who apparently killed me. I shot them with the sniper then meleed them, at some point they must have hit me with their AK so when someone on my team threw a grenade at my feet a few seconds later the enemy was given the kill. It was during a deathmatch round of team objective too so it mattered to the score.

Maybe that certain something that we can't pinpoint regarding aiming is that there's no assist aiming whatsoever?

There is. Up close, my crosshair was following a guy pretty much without me doing anything. I think I had the MAG pistol out.

Actually I like this WAY more than the beta in July. I can't even name the differences or if there any because I left the beta early disappointed, but right from the start this feels much better. For what's it worth it clicked for me whereas in the beta it never really clicked.

Hit detection seemed fine to me, what feels off is hit confirmation. Other than the M9 I find it very hard to tell whether my bullets are connecting or not.

I don't think the health is too high, but slim characters + fast movement speed + weapons with recoil AND spread = difficult targets to hit. Gears 3 is a pretty fast-paced game but the characters are bulky, making them easier to hit when moving. I'd love to see someone 2-shot a sprinting player with the G-MAL, because right now, it ain't happening.

Honestly I think the guns should be slightly buffed to mitigate this. The G-MAL should be a 4 or 5 bullet kill so while it still takes two trigger pulls, the spread won't screw you as often. The AK needs less of either recoil or spread, maybe one less bullet to kill.

I understand Uncharted is a high health game, but the characters have too much health for how fast they move and how small their hitboxes are. My opinion at least. Beta was perfect in this aspect. I bitched about a lot of stuff in the beta but the guns/damage model was not one of them, at least not to any significant degree.

Wow, trying to kill anyone at a decent range is near impossible. The only way you're going to kill them is if they stand still while you unload half a clip or more. Seems like every game turns into run around hip-firing the ak and then hit melee whenever anyone gets somewhat close to you. after you get the kill, roll out of there and leave a grenade and hopefully you'll kill the other guy who was trying to melee you at the same time. I think I'll stick with the single-player.

Okay here are my impressions. I played for about three hours.

First two things I instantly noticed.

1. Faster running and slower turning camera. This felt really weird. Unlike U2 or U3 beta you cant rotate the right stick and instantly turn around and start firing. It takes a little more time to move the crosshair. Feels very awkward and a little sluggish especially after playing the beta. After three hours though, I kinda got used to it but I don't really understand why this was changed. I assume it's to stop people from using blind fire so fast and so accurate. Like how in the beta the "pros" could use the T-Bolt sniper and use it fine without ever going into the sights. I liked the way movement was before.

2. Sprint. So much faster and so much more mobility. This is a force to be reckoned with. You can run for a very long time without gettting tired. There is also a small delay while in sprint into firing. As it should be, but it could be a little longer. I do HOWEVER disagree that sprinting into blindfire into punch kill is overpowered. I still find it most of the time if someone is being shot at and they try said method they lose. I think this is being a little overblown. Blindfire and puch should be powerful at close range. Always has always will.

Things I thought need work/changed

1. Hit sound. The sound effect of when your bullets hit your target was great and you knew you were hitting them. Why change this. This was universally loved. Doesn't make any sense.

2. Para 9. The default pistol is a joke. This weapon is useless. Weak, bad blindfire and horrible recoil. I almost rather take my chances with two punches.

3. Treasure. The best and most innovative feature of U3 was the treasure system. It's still there and fine but it's a little different. One it spawns far less then it did in the beta. Which is fine and a matter of prefrences of what you like, but what I don't like is that it seems that you can no longer collect clothing pieces and the only thing you collect are gun sets. All the clothing seems to be for sale using in game cash. The beta had tons of different stuff to collect, this version only adds a little more. Very dissapointing. Hopefully I am wrong on this one.

4. More mods? In the beta there was a booster that let you add an additional mod to your gun. Now it seems as though its gone. So I figure once I unlock the "character" weapons I'll never use the old guns again cause the "character" guns have more mods on them.

5. WHY CANT I HAVE A RANDOM SELCETION OF MY CHARATER LIKE U2! I DONT WANT TO CHANGE IT MYSELF AFTER EVERY MATCH.

6. Minor complaint but in cover blindfire is not as useful as before. Not useless just not effective.

Things that were unexpectedly awesome

1. The music. Oh god is it amazing. One of the things I always hated about U2 multiplayer was how dull and quite the backround was. Now it's different. While still silent for the most part, music is played when you level up making an inspiring tune or durring power plays several different action pieces play making seem very intense. Overtime adds a clock stopping number and I think even when I had a couple long kill streaks the music started to pick up. Very catchy and pumped up tunes.

2. New maps. They are all good and I don't hate any of them and they even reworked the airstrip beggining but this is really just my opinion. So moving on.

3. Characters. While these are just some of the characters and we all know there will be more. I love the way they banter. The one liners are great and they show a lot of emotion. I hate the skeletons.

4. Match start up. It's a lot faster now and you can fully go into any of the menu's while it's loading up the game or even watch Uncharted TV.

5. Community vids. I haven't really messed with it yet but I took a quick look and there were videos up and running and you could watch all the user created videos whenever you want. Really cool.

Well thats all for now. I wanna eat dinner and get back to playing. Just one last point.

UNCHARTED 3 still plays like how a uncharted game should play. Traversal and Health and gunplay are at a good balance.

Does anyone know if my progress in this NA download will carry over to the EU retail? Did anyone ever swap the disc region on UC2 and did it make a difference?

Thinking I should hop over to and EU sourced download as soon as something is available (I don't have PS+)

Supersprinting is awful and feels like complete shit when you do it. This multiplayer is so BAD right now. :( And the lag is worse than ever.

Para-9 and AK47 are COMPLETELY useless at long range. Jesus.

People have an absurd amount of health? Yeah, absurdly low. Needs to be much higher. Kills aren't very satisfying in the least if you're getting them in a few bullets. Plus, I'm a fan of cat and mouse mind games and I would prefer them to last much longer.

They really need to fix the in-game friend's list. There's just not enough information in it at the moment.

If people are in a party, I need to know who else they are playing with.

I'm absolutely amazed that ND was able to accidentally create one of the greatest MP games of all time with their first outing, only to continuously take steps backwards as time went on.

I'm feeling like more than half of my deaths are from behind now, enemies can move around the map so fast with the increased speed and overpowered sprint.

Haha now its way too much health now? Wasn't this on of the biggest issue with UC2 was low health?I have no idea what to follow now.

It's too much health in conjunction with fast movement speed, small hitboxes, bad hit detection, and too much recoil/spread on the guns.

I personally wouldn't say it was an issue cause I didn't mind it, but yeah I recall a lot of people hating that low health patch that came out on Uncharted 2

I don't get why you'd put out a beta to get feedback on how your gameplay is, then spend time refining it till it felt right in the last days of the beta. Only to totally change it?

It makes no sense

I approve of this. It's a too high right now.

Well, they did the same thing to UC2 post-release. Me, I quite like it how it is now speed wise, minus sprint. UC2 type weapon handling would be better though.

Don't fuck with the health.

You obviously don't work for ND where their motto is, "If it makes sense, don't do it."

In general, I would get more enjoyment after taking thirty minutes to kill someone (if the hunt was extremely fun and rewarding) than getting a couple lucky shots in and getting a kill.

AH people complain alot about the sprint and they fixed it,now its too fast now.

yea it's not possible to kill people at range with the absurd amount of health they have
Hard enough to kill them close up with the super speed mechanic. I see a guy in the distance and I don't even bother shooting anymore.

Sprint speed is fine, but why can you sprint for longer? That doesn't make sense, the beta had it so you had to use your sprint at the right time. Now you can just sprint all day long

Health seems fine, they need to fix the hit boxes though
