I loved the shooting in the beta. The guns had perfect recoil and a level of predictability that you need in good shooting mechanics. Now they just feel unwieldy, if I fire off a round I'm definitely not certain I'll be hitting the enemy

yep, shoot them 6 times then they hide behind cover and regain their health in 6 seconds -_-

Bad advice anyway. Hitboxes are so absurdly small that going for headshots is suicide. Fuck, even Call of Duty headshots are more effective.
 
I've played a bunch now, and I can't decide if I actually like it or not. Definitely makes me miss UC2 at launch, or even the beta. I can go 17-4 running like a madman and blind firing the ak, but it doesn't feel satisfying. Trying to pick people at a distance is pointless. And I haven't felt this cheated by deaths since MW2.

It just had a great feel to it. The controls, the shooting, the jumping, everything. It felt great. It was different from UC2, but it still felt good when you played.

This does not. Even if I kill people, I'm not having fun. I cannot get over the fact of how moronic supersprinting is , you move faster than SpeedyG in the beta FFS.
 
i think the main problem is how they slowed everything down so that the sprint could fit in, now it just feels clunky and slow.
and the sprint feels too fast, and the camera angle becomes stupid, and it aids nubs who blindfire and then melee

Whatever, all of these issues and complaints is what this thread is for anyways. I wouldn't be surprised if ND pushes a patch (or at least a few stealth updates) before this MP ends. They said they wouldn't make any major changes to MP gameplay when the game came out, but technically, the game still isn't out yet.
 
Excuse me if I post that I'm not enjoying this MP like I did the beta, Jme. I just don't understand how it can feel different from the beta we played a few months back. Don't get me wrong, it's still a little fun, but I know it can be better. There's also certain stuff that make you go 'wtf'. For example,

1) there's still no XMB invites. They're still in-game. However, unlike with the beta, you get a little notification when you receive one so I'm a little bit OK with it. I'd still prefer XMB invites.
2) you can't tell who is talking on voice chat, while you could in Uncharted 2. The mic symbol doesn't appear showing you who is talking. Why?
3) the menus could be better. The way they are right now and the way you access them seem messy and confusing. There's too many options (which isn't bad at all), but the way they are accessed could be more simpler.
4) you still can't see who your friends are partied up with. Again, this was in Uncharted 2...why it was missing in the beta or in this Subway MP boggles my mind.
5) the 'mute all' button is accessed horribly. It should be a button press option in the lobby screen. The way you access it on the MP is by clicking your name and the option will appear there...which is dumb, IMO.
6) it still takes a long time to find a match when you're in a party, yet if you're playing alone...you find matches a lot more quickly. At least in my experience.
7) the Para pistol was fixed in the beta so that it wasn't a useless weapon, but on this one it's back to it's original useless state.
8) you have to ENABLE shoulder switching because it's off by default. What the fuck.

What happened to the shadows of players in the Airstrip? I don't even notice them anymore...
 
Loving it quite much Uncharted 3. Although I realize after a couple of days I will get bored of it.

There are just not enough maps, if you think about it: there are only 3 new maps, because we have already played Yemen, Chateau and Airstrip in the beta. Not complaining or anything, but with only three 'new' maps it's just a matter of time before me (and probably more people) will quit.

I hope at least that there at least twice as much maps in the retail game. 6 just ain't enough. 12 or more is good, less is meeh..

Airstrip looks SO BLAND compared to the beta. Instead of improving what they had done, they changed it entirely. And some levels seem to have no shadows at all, like the subway station. Is it early? I don't get it really, is this another "beta"? I thought this was final code.
 
Yeah, I don't like it. It takes too many shots to put guys down.

Also, in typical PS3 fashion (see BF3 beta); no one is wearing a mic, so teamwork is nonexistent. I hate that Rambo mentality in my shooters.
 
The game is just a giant mindfuck for me. Despite only playing about 4 games of UC2 MP, I like to think I was pretty decent at the UC3 beta and could hold my own when playing with other gaffers. But man, retail UC3 makes me feel like I've never played a shooter in my life. Nothing works for me. Yeah I had a few lucky games on Yemen with Rewrite last night, but it was just that...luck. I consistently had 2 k/d in the beta without getting lucky.

Retail is something completely different, with too many elements fighting against me. The guns fight against me with their overabundance of recoil/spread. The crappy hit detection fights against me. The enemy team of Sonic the Hedgehogs with their tiny fucking hitboxes fights against me.

I don't think it would even matter how much time I put in. My G-MAL still isn't going to work, and enemy players outside of extreme CQ are still going to be a complete pain in the ass to land shots on. The guns in this game are fucking jank.

There will be more than 6 maps in the final retail game.
 
I'm not into it at all. Uncharted 2 just felt better to play. I don't know what it is. I am just going to wait for the co-op. The competitive multiplayer is pretty dull to me. Especially while still playing Gears 3.

All of this is true. I have hundreds of hours on UC2 MP, 30+ hours on the UC3 beta, and I'm doing horribly at this thing. And it seems like there's nothing to learn, no way to improve. It's just a clusterfuck. It's so disappointing and annoying, they had it so right with the beta. I wish Naughty Dog would fucking speak up and defend their shit ideas. Nothing is better here, everything single change they've made is worse.

Same feeling here. I had a lot of fun with the beta, but I just can't get into this for some reason. Like others have said, I played a lot of U2 and the beta and I was very decent, most games over a 2 k/d, but I just suck at this game. I average .5 most times. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
 
I wish no one was using a mic. All I hear is loud voices and feedback that blows my ears out while using my headset. I just have to mute everyone
 
i like the sound though, the sandstorm in 5.1 felt awesome.

there is a big topic over on the nd forums, bout 10 pages by now. they'll
be focusing on that so make sure you post whats wrong (a lot), still time
to get back to beta standards

I know some people didn't like the beta but to me it was perfect and even better than UC2 pre-1.04. This? I don't know.
 
The 'I don't know feeling' also sums up my experience so far. To me, the beta felt like it could have been the go to MP experience on PS3. This one? It feels like, I'll play for a week or two and move on to another game.

Movement sucks. Guns suck. Boosters suck. Kickbacks suck. Powerplays suck. Spawns, buddy or otherwise, FUCKING SUCK.

I might just play the MP for the two trophies and be done with it...
 
Oh man not even a full day. How about you guys give it a week of play. I felt like I had to re-learn the mechanics also but I find my self inching better. Learning new techniques. Give it a chance and try the same thing before you whine about not being able to play like you did in the beta.

I'm actually playing on a dummy account because I'm getting fucked so bad, and I too did very well in the beta and past Uncharted games.

I left a small post, but that place is a cesspool. People complaining that the health is too high and that curse is an awesome kickback. It makes my physically ill to read through that crap.

At this point there are way too many people that have jumped into the game during different states (both U2/U3 and their various version numbers) to have everyone agree on a way the game is meant to be tweaked.

I didn't play much of the U3 beta and U2 was never my cup of tea outside of co-op, but I absolutely love the tweaks they made with movement and aiming/recoil... I'd actually prefer more recoil.

As much as people are hating some of the changes, I'm sure they're getting just as much input in favor of them... you just can't please everyone with a fanbase this large.
 
Health is too high complaint actually makes sense now since the weapons are terrible and everyone moves like Wally West.

Then you'd need less health. It's a balancing act. ND simply put too much of everything...health, movement speed, recoil, to the point where killing someone is a fucking chore.

Only 30 seconds in and he's already summing up my experiences in a nutshell, players that constantly spam grenades instead of gun on gun action, and getting shot in the back.

Oh btw ND has made it now so you are automatically equipped with a pistol after you drop the treasure, even if you never used the fucking thing and you were equipped with a rifle before picking it up. WHY ND WHY, WHY HAVE YOU MADE SO MANY FUCKING STUPID CHANGES

Have you posted any of these complaints on the Naughty Dog forums yet? They'd probably be better off there.
