Uncharted 3: Subway's Deception Multiplayer Discussion [New Patch Released]

It would be an interesting experiment to create a "beta mode" with all the controls, damage, etc of the beta and put it next to other modes and see what people gravitate towards.

But at this point, I really would just like an explanation as to why ND decided to change the MP this much.

I absolutely think some people need to give this game more time before calling it "garbage" because some gameplay mechanics are slightly different than the beta.

I'm sorry, but when most players blindfire and then go in for the 1 hit kill in a 3rd person cover shooter, you know you fucked up your gameplay mechanics.

it's not garbage man, it's broken. The game shouldn't be about who can run, unload 10 bullets and melee faster it's a shooter not MW2 Lightweight Marathon emulator.

Glad I'm not the only one struggling. I play hardcore mode and it seems everyone has fleet foot by default when they aim and jitter around to get the kill. I can blast people all day and they just scurry off the edge of buildings to safety. Frustrating.

Hopefully they make changes soon before those who constantly play and make it to max levels get too used to it.

So true, even in regular it's the same, Fleet Foot feels pretty useless now with the speed of the characters.

Who plays Uncharted for the multiplayer? Clearly it's a single player game and the multiplayer is just "icing".

The multiplayer in Uncharted 2 was really fun, about the only time I've ever actually gotten into a competitive multiplayer game on a console. It adapted to the format so well, it felt like a game that actually made sense on a console and was well tuned but not super serious. It was a blast for me and a couple of friends.

I mean I like Uncharted but I wouldn't have bought Uncharted 2 at launch without that great multiplayer beta. To me, sixty dollars for what is ultimately a short corridor shooter, no matter how good it is, is not something I'd consider. Normally I don't buy them at all, but Uncharted is kind of special.

So suffice to say, so far I'm kind of let down with Uncharted 3's multiplayer. The maps aren't quite up to snuff (although a fair chunk of this has a lot to do with aesthetics to me, which is totally subjective), the gunplay feels a bit off and it all feels so much faster and more mindless. Host advantage also seems a bit oddball.

Hopefully they can tune it up some, it's not ruined or anything it just needs some important tweaks.

The multiplayer for Uncharted 2 was quite compelling before Naughty Dog ruined it. Honestly, I didn't know why I convinced myself that they would learn from their hideously bad design decisions.

That's how I saw it before the beta, but I really enjoyed the beta and thought "Well, I'm probably gonna be playing Gears 3 and Halo as my go-to shooters, but UC3 can slide into the third slot". Well, not after playing THIS shit

I'm holding out my judgement since my opinion on several elements changed significantly throughout the beta, even before the big changes started to roll out, but I have to admit I'm not enjoying it nearly as much.

Stop it, don't say something silly like that. Of course I buy the game for SP, I love the series and I love the characters but fuck yea I'm looking forward to play multiplayer, in the last day of the U3 beta, nothing provided it's MP experience, no other games at all.

Put me in the camp of people who thoroughly enjoyed the U3 beta, and can't even enjoy this. Of course still buying U3, but aside from any MP trophies, I'll pass.

Yep. I almost never play multiplayer games, Uncharted 2 was one big exception.

I'm not really enjoying UC3 though, I didn't play the beta but it feels off compared to UC2 to me.
The beta was considerably different.

A lot of us have over 100 hours on UC2 multiplayer. It's not a bullet point feature.

What? They are all slight changes. The gameplay is fundamentally the same from the beta. Obviously they can add up to sucking at the game now because you were used to beta settings.

Which is where I'm at. I was good at the G-MAL in the beta, now not so much. I really think if they made the sprint a little bit slower then people would stop complaining so much. It really all boils down to that sprint, I feel like people are hallucinating other changes with the game because they're getting frustrated that people are sprinting away from them or running toward them and meleeing.

it's not garbage man, it's broken. The game shouldn't be about who can run, unload 10 bullets and melee faster it's a shooter not MW2 Lightweight Marathon emulator.

Yeah.. this game still doesn't play anything like MW2. Thankfully.

I'm not saying people shouldn't make suggestions about the game. But, it seems like every suggestion forms out of frustration from losing. Ugh I can't get any kills, it's garbage! They need to fix this shit!! That type of thing. It's taking me some getting used to the changes from the beta as well. I just don't think it's been out long enough to justify these complaints.

Really I'm amazed that people say shit like, "The UC3 beta was the best thing EVER and now I absolutely hate this new version", like it's a totally different game.

I would love a "beta" playlist. Just one playlist, TDM, with all the beta controls like it was on the last day.

Then let people try out the old and the new. If people say they love the new, I will officially shut the fuck up and bow down to Naughty Dog.

The irony is that Activision benefits from companies like Guerrilla and ND continually trying to make their game more like CoD, because they just end up fucking it up more and driving those players back to CoD.

I'm also starting to think these companies are infiltrated with double agents trying to ruin their MP because it's happening so often. It's not like they were bad to begin with -- they were great and then ruined. Strange.

Fixed to show my feelings.

lol yeah, people got schooled big time back then
I for one like it, it plays much better now, definitely enjoy this much more than the beta

___ KILL/DEATH
Kills
247
Deaths
169
K/D
1.46

___ WINS/LOSS PERCENTAGE
Wins
16
Losses
4

Level 20

-I usually do quite well. This is using the AK or g-mal. No sniper. That K/D and W/L is better then my stats in the beta.

I would still go back to the beta in a heartbeat. In a nanosecond. I don't give a crap if I am doing amazing or crappy. Playing it gives me 0 pleasure.

The inaccuracy of the first 2 assault rifles is horrible. I'm totally with Mikey on a lot of that stuff, but I haven't played enough to agree with all of it.

Also, why the fuck did they change Elana's face?!?! It is different, right? I'm not crazy, am I??

I think you're 100% correct here.

As for your second paragraph, it basically boils down to devs listening to a small minority of very vocal complainers. I think it's fine to consider constructive criticism, but a dev should never feel like that they are obligated to change their game because a small minority threatens to quit. It also doesn't help that the more devs try to emulate Call of Duty, the more it mucks up their vision and overall product.

My K/d for the Beta was easily 1 point higher than it is now, and I have a 1.01 for the game now, it's just been a mess. Oh well if it stays like i'll just not play the Multiplayer, thankfully I know SP will be great.

The big Uncharted multiplayer community plays it. The 1.5 million people who downloaded the beta play it.

I'm just really glad Uncharted has been more about the single player. Hopefully Co-Op mode is fun. The multiplayer while fun, needs some serious tuning.

My K/DR:

U2: 2.9
U3 Beta: 2
U3 Subway: .5

So this is still technically a beta phase right? Because right now, I'm pretty much just looking forward to SP and Co-op

I wonder if co-op will have the same speed.

Surely SP has been spared from this...surely.

My first impression of the Syria map is not very positive. It's complex and very open, which is good in theory, but you're extremely exposed pretty much anywhere.
It's probably my least favorite out of the new maps.

Funny thing is people were shitting on the beta in the same way, its really nothing new.

I hate that map. I don't know if I'm the only one, but it's constantly spawning me in a middle of a firefight on that map.

I like the map design but I get shot in the back all day on it. Raaaaaaaaaaage

Syria has replaced Lost City as the "get shot in the back map." I'm not competitive at all on that map.

When you're talking about something as pure as a competitive, arena-type game like this, mild changes to the shooting model, pacing, hit detection, etc are very hefty in the end.

It's not like they can add in a bunch of design alterations to scenario design, sub systems, ability design, etc like some online RPG. Core game-play is mostly all that's there and ripples make waves.

I think the maps are mostly very nice, but the speed throws them off. I don't care for the aesthetics of the desert but that's a personal qualm. There's nothing quite as nice as The Village from UC2 yet though, now that was a map to remember.

So I'm definitely on the I don't like this beta train. Everything is just too fast and I don't feel like I can keep up with anything. So I figure I will try to turn down the sensitivity, but then I quickly realized that doesn't slow anything down other then myself and I died more.

Honestly this is going to be the let down of the Fall for me. I will still enjoy single player, but I doubt I will touch mulitplayer past level 30. (Going to get accuracy boosters before I quit 100%) I'm skeptical that this has anything to do with my problem though, I will admit I play better with those boosters, but I never had a huge issue in the first beta killing without it.

I am curious though out of all the people who do like it better, what is the proportion of those players who are really hardcore FPS fans (Halo, Gears, COD, Battlefield) Game to me just feels like it's trying to compete with all of those rather than serving it's own unique niche.

That being said I had at least level 65 in UC2 and got to around 40 I believe in the first beta.
