Uncharted 3: Subway's Deception Multiplayer Discussion [New Patch Released]

Does it ever not reload when you press R2 for anybody else? You can hear and see it almost go through but it suddenly stops. It gets annoying and has resulted in me mashing R2 just to make sure I reload.

Sometimes it doesn't reload for me, while for others it does. It's inconsistent. It happens to me a lot more frequently when I use the sniper.

Sorry if this has been asked, but I feel it's a relevant question:

I have downloaded the US Subway version and have played a little bit through my EU/Swedish PSN account. Will the stats remain for the final game despite this difference, or will I have to redo everything in the retail version?

I don't think anyone knows for sure yet regarding EU accounts on the retail game

How did all the complaining (which is valid to a certain degree) in this topic hype you up?

Because GAF hated on Uncharted 2 post 1.4, I infact prefered it post 1.4 so I figured it would be the same for UC3 :)

It's tied to your account so it should be. I played with versions of the beta from different regions and all my stats and stuff carried over.

You monster.

This thread is pretty big, so what exactly is wrong with the multiplayer? What is different from the beta?

-Major recoil on all weapons. (AK47, G-MAL, PARA, possibly M9. KAL-7 has so much recoil, that it has an effective range of 3 feet)
-Sprint has been improved drastically. So much so, that there is zero downside to using it now.
-Because of this, it is now very hard killing people from a distance with any weapon except a power weapon or sniper.
-Also, hipfire+melee now rules the day. Pressing L1 to aim down the sights is most of the time not even an option because of the insane recoil. You run up to the person with the new sprint, hipfire at them, then when they have been damaged, melee them. Rinse and repeat.
There was hipfire in the beta, but that was if someone got the drop on you.
Now? Seems like half the playerbase is doing hipfire/melee.

Yea at first I was okay with sprint but the more I play I realize it's really destroys some of the fundamentals. Sprint is so good now that traveling around the map all the way only takes seconds. Maps aren't very big to begin with. If you play plunder or objective and you die and respawn on the other side of the map, you can still get to the other side in no time.

I miss the first beta, but I am still having tons of fun.

Bullet damage needs to be increased at least in the short term to keep matches from turning into somersaulting, grenade dropping punch fests. That would buy them some to time to fix whatever underlying mechanics are allowing the nonsense to occur in the first place. Great game otherwise, but man can matches turn into crap really fast in the current conditions.

Wow, this game is horrible. 180 turn around from the beta which was all sorts of amazing addicting. Shows how to break a game, Naughty Dog. Dear god.

Multiplayer might be "horrible", but damn, the singleplayer will be fantastic so don't say the "game" is horrible. Yet.

After playing this beta for an extended time yesterday, I've come to the conclusion that there is simply no rhyme or reason to it. Everyone is running around like headless chickens, spraying, praying and meleeing with their M9s, Aks, or Micros, in a game that's supposed to emphasize cover and aiming. Why even hit L1 at all? Just sprint around the map and hip-fire to your heart's content.

The only change I like is that normal run speed is increased, back to what feels like Uncharted 2 levels. But that's it. Oh, and there is a hint of Uncharted goodness when the person your fighting decides to engage in an aiming battle with you, but most of the time that's interrupted when some douchebag runs in and melee kills you from behind, so the moment is all too fleeting. What a mess.

Or something like that.

Someone should let ND know that apparently the house has been nuked from orbit.

Did they really say something like this? "We're not changing shit for a few months"?

this is all I've seen so far

cross-posting this here from the Naughty Dog forums, which was in response to the outcry about sprinting and blindfire:

This is a very delicate issue to address. Whenever you change one system, it affects countless others. Nothing ever happens in a vacuum so we must carefully analyze a variety of factors before deciding to change anything.

That said, we are definitely reading your feedback and are taking everything into account. We're also trying to spread more information to you, our fanbase, faster and making the process more transparent, so you're not left in the dark for long stretches of time.

We really appreciate the passion and support you're giving us. Thanks for caring.

the guy's name is strange to me, though. Is his first name Evang, last name starting with an M?

They said they're taking the feedback into consideration but the won't make any rash changes because when one system is altered it affects countless others.

Of course, it doesn't make any sense considering their history with changing shit, but that's what they said.

More like there will be people sprinting around it, hipfiring and one-melee taking it down

They're probably in the middle of crunch trying to get the game gold. Once it's shipped to get pressed they'll probably start working on tweaks, but I wouldn't expect anything till release date at best.

Anyway, I'm done till the next patch. Too much good stuff out there now to worry about broken MP. If they never fix it I'll just enjoy the single player and move on.

How would changing back sprint to how it was in the beta affect anything else? Yeah, it will make it harder to rush at someone and melee them, but that's the point. It's the only thing holding this game back.

What was it they changed with U2 MP that made everyone rage so much?

Health was lowered to a point where the game changed more or less completely, in the process it broke U2's best mode, plunder. You try to grab the treasure, you die.

After playing around with the Kal-7 a little I've found that you really do have to run'n gun with it since it's useless if you aim. There are two attachments available for a level 35: call out and a scope. I picked call out because if I do end up in a situation where I can't run at them and hipfire then hopefully someone on my team would be able to kill the highlighted enemy for me.

The hell is this power play crap? I don't want my foes exposed.
Try hardcore if your playing TDM

What I hope is that Naughty Dog has a hardcore version of every mode, I don't want to ever see kickbacks and perks when I play online, and I don't want to play just TDM either.

Mhm. No Boosters. No Medal Kickbacks (wut). No Mods.

The charm of the UC2 was that.. it was just simple.

As much as I can be negative about UC3 multiplayer I do like that I can play Plunder without wanting to throw my controller out the window.

That's part of the problem. change it back to beta state, the beta was a dream. Make it true again. Do it ND. Just hit the "back" button a few times.

The more I play the more I enjoy it. Honestly, once I unlocked the M9, the game became way more enjoyable.

Also, I think that this is a bare bones version of the MP. I'm sure there are maps they didn't include, just so the SP wouldn't get too spoiled. Also, I am sure stuff like Rocket Only matches will be on some list at some point. I would also expect a Lab type list that is in U2 now. They have already said that there would be new stuff in the retail product.

Wow, that's horribly disappointing. I wonder what made them change all of that? I thought the beta was really good.

I think one of the things that felt off was the recoil. It feels like a cartoon where the character can't hold onto the assault rifle.

Glad to see that it's not just me not enjoying this. I've been trying to like it so hard but I just can't. I loved U2's mp and it's sad to see that ND essentially scrapped balance in order to have more customization. Not to mention that it takes way to damn long to kill anybody and that the grenades are just unfair.

How are grenades not fair? They take longer to throw out than in UC2 and you can toss them back.

Because they kill much more effectively than the guns in this game as far as my experience goes. Throw it within a 5 ft radius of someone and you are guaranteed at least an assist. Rolling away from them doesn't do shit to null them either.
