Uncharted 3: Subway's Deception Multiplayer Discussion [New Patch Released]

First game in like a week, coming back for the new maps. ... Didn't have much fun. Might've been because I was the only person who wasn't a level 35, which could also mean level 135 at this point.

Highrise in UC2 is much better. In this one, your characters will sometimes not grab the ledges and fall to their death where in UC2, your character would grab on. The lower part where the RPG originally was in UC2, the pipe that you grab to go across will work sometimes and other times your character will do the animation like if there was an invisible wall there where you'll fall down to your death. I like the added details to light it up, but IMO map looks more beautiful in daylight.

When I was playing the beta awhile ago I SAW someone playing a skeleton, I don't know how they got it, but it was silent. I'm not sure what match it was in but I might try and look through the recordings later.

Turning into a skeleton has something to do with a kickback. I think it's the one where you can throw a treasure and it will turn into gas. If the enemy team goes in it, they turn into a skeleton.

I know there's that curse thing, but it didn't seem like this guy was the same. I'll need to recheck if I can.

Another thing about Highrise - When you and another person bump into one another in midair over an edge, you will fall down to your death. never happened in UC2.

Papercuts, I think you're just seeing the Cursed Idol kickback. If you're infected, you'll see characters as skeletons outside the cursed zone.

I genuinely hope not, those things had 0 personality.

They're back in the retail version, Boombloxer. :( The video posted back there had two of them that were in the previous games.

God, why are they obsessed with them. They have no personality or charm to them and they don't even fit in the game. It makes no sense why ND would bring them back.

Some more matches tonight, didn't get to play with the M9, though. That thing Rewrite mentioned happened to me in Highrise. Jumped across a gap along a teammate and we kind of collided in midair. I died and he didn't.

GG tonight to those I played with :)
Even though I was sucking it up..
Ryanardo, Qlaarqueh, Darkatomz, joeinnit.. who am I missing? >_>

Oh yeah!
Gibration! ^_^

Yep. GG, all.

I'm liking the new (old) maps. I didn't play much UC2 MP so whatever is worse about them is lost on me. Highrise is great for the area control objective game types. Is every map going to be rolled out by the end of the month, or are they saving a few launch day?

Why was the helicopter removed from High Rise? It was one of the highpoints of the map
I noticed that too! Bummer. I loved the airstrike.

So get this: I was in a Team Deathmatch game where the opposing team all quit one after another. Once the last guy quit, guess what happened? A tie game. Yes. A fucking TIE game. :lol

Think they got time to remodel that thing with all the great changes they were making to gameplay post beta?

C'mon, son. Prioritize.

Anyone else think the clothes for the custom hero are kinda lame? There's no configuration I like.

Heh.

There's a heli attack on Syria already though. :P

Lazy effort on Highrise and Molten Ruins, just cosmetic changes with very little (if any) geometry changes. I would have liked to see the two buildings on the east and west sides of Ruins have accessible rooftops. Didn't play Plunder on either of them but I imagine Heroes now have the clear advantage on both of the maps (thanks to just switching the bases on Ruins).

Unbalanced power-weapon spawns on Highrise -- yes, let's give the Tbolt only to the Villains. Unnecessary spawn changes on Ruins -- just swapped the Heroes and Villains starting spawns. Why?

Can't wait for how terrible Frozen Facility will be with everyone BS'n in the pipe room.

I do. I hope there's a hell of a lot more clothing pieces in the final game.
There was actually a lot of different pieces in the beta that aren't in this version so I expect to see some, especially for the story characters since you could unlock things for Nate in the beta too.

Like everything else, I just think they're holding items back to keep gamers going after launch since there's always something to strive for. If we could unlock everything before launch, some of the players that love progression would get bored with nothing else to buy. This way, gamers will still play this at launch (in theory) since there's more to do.

Sort of like the maps they've held back.

Highrise is kind of shitty. WHY would you only put a sniper on ONE side of the map? Why place a shotgun on the water tower instead? Why get rid of the Hammer and Mag? Why no level effect? Not to mention since long range gunfights don't happen anymore, the overall feel of the map is just boring.

Molten Ruins is ok I guess, but again, why get rid of the TBolt? That aside, the map looked better in the rain and dark.

I agree with this. :3

Also, I just looked at the leaderboards. I only have 51 kills, and 35 deaths now. :lol
I assume this happened to everyone who played today, because of the update?

What's up with Elimination mode?

It was basically the only mode I played in U2. So much more exciting and fun to play with friends than standard respawn-modes!

It WILL be in the final game, right?

Right?!

You know, I'm not entirely sure whether I've been staying away from U3 because of my busy schedule or because I'm just not as interested in what was offered as I thought I would be. :/

Hey guys, I'm on the annoyed band wagon now too!

Everytime I try and play (every time) I get into a game and it freezes mid game, every time. Is there a fix to this issue? It happened before and after the patch. Also, EVERY game I get in usually looks like this:

WOGjr.jpg

And it's always mid game... I used to be good at this game. Now I'm just destroyed constantly. Why do people have so much time to practice every day!

So that's why you haven't been online for awhile. I always figured you liked it because of your positive posts in the past. You should at least give it another chance.

Well, I've also been busy as hell, which is the main reason. :D Finishing two classes this week though, so I'm getting some time back!

I'm about to give up. People keep using the objective maps so that they can just turn it into DM matches. My last 5 Objective/Plunders I was the only one to really care about winning the match.

Everyone else seemed like they were grinding towards a new level/more kills. Its fucking infuriating. I had 4 CAPTURE alone to the other sides 2. The 35 on our team would just camp the idol, threw it towards their direction twice in order to further camp them, AND blew me up with a nade when I tried to cap the last one. They came back since my team just DMing them instead of going for the Idol. I wish I could vote to kick people. AFKs, douches like that, and what not. F^** this.

I killed some guy up there a bunch, he just camped the whole time. No chopper is basura.

Plunder on the high-rise is easier if you're the heroes--1 good toss can get it depending on the treasure spawn.

Ruins is still the same, that open placement is a death sentence. Waaay too many options to shoot the carrier.

Played from 24 to 28, I still hate the fact that aiming is less effective than sprint, spray n melee.

I lucked out, played with a few good groups, even saw a few gaffers on the other side.

That's why I wanted to add gaffers to my friends list so I don't have to deal with it. I had one game where not ONE single person went after the points on Chain Reaction yet the other team was even worse because they let me get all the points by myself killing them two at a time and that was the only resistance. It's really sad that games aren't about winning anymore. It's like being on a basketball team where no one wants to win but work on their own personal stats so they look good. The whole purpose of sports and even MP games is to WIN, otherwise what the hell is the point of competition?

Anyway, feel free to add me on PSN and I'll play with you as well. I was on a good team the last game of the night and that U2 feeling was back because of it. It feels so right when you have a good team and now all I can ask for are some balancing issues to be addressed so this stupid bonzai charge while spraying your KAL-7 and finish it with a melee for the kill shit can at least be stopped. I have no problem if people want to play that way, but it shouldn't beat out aiming all the time, especially if I'm scoring a shitload of headshots on them.

By the way, sorry about not joining General. I got the invite just as I was starting my last game of the night.

Darknessbear said:
Yea, I'm down with playing with some gaffers. If you dont mind someone that completely sucks now...
Hell, it's not even about being good in the objective modes. As long as you have support going after the objective, it makes a huge difference compared to the guys off in their own little areas trying to rack up kills. If there's another body there to keep fire on the enemy and take some of the damage instead of all of them shooting at one person, then it's a lot easier to succeed. Especially if I were to die but knew I had more teammates on the objective to capture or defend it.

This game is perfect with people you trust to go after the objective, whether they have a great KDR or not.

So me and two buddies had the worst and most bittersweet Plunder match ever. We got paired up with a party of Level 35's who just farmed for kills in Plunder. You can tell they did this because when you looked at each of their stats, they had like 2k kills and like 100 deaths. Anyway, we were a party of three against a team who just treats Plunder like Deathmatch. We kept dying and dying trying to advance the idol to our treasure base and we were just about to fucking quit cuz we weren't having it. Then slowly, we kept clearing out the campers in our base and managed to score once. Me and my friends let out a big sigh of relief knowing that we managed to score one and if they wanted to win the match, they had to score one too. They tried advancing it and we did exactly like they did, camped in their base and killed them as they tried to advance the idol. At one point, they were close to scoring, but we managed to get the idol out of there and advance it to our base. So another 10 minutes of deathmatch pass by and we got another opportunity to score! So it was 2 vs. 1 now. I think the idiots realized they wouldn't win so they stopped going for the idol and just went on a killing spree. We ended up winning the match and I felt VERY proud for me and my friends that managed to score 2 points on these fucking assholes ruining this mode. One guy had like 54 kills and like 10 deaths...that's how bad it was for us. Regardless, they fucking lost and we won and I don't give a fuck if they got all those kills. I saved the cinema file too.

Naughty Dog really needs to do something about this shit because this is like the worst experience people can get when it comes to this mode.

And Mr. Benjiman, we met again! Ha!

- - - -

That pole in The Highrise where you swing to the next platform is so fucking broken and needs to be fixed. Why these issues appear in UC3 and never appeared in UC2 blows my mind.

King of the Hill in the Flooded Ruins is terrible too. I don't mind the top spot to capture - it's the other spot that fucking sucks because there's a lot of cover that it's almost impossible to even make it there if another team captured it. :\

The treasure spawn locations for Plunder in The Highrise also need to be different. When it spawns across the roof, it favors the other team like crazy because they don't really have to climb so much shit to reach it compared to the other team. It was the same in UC2 too and I was hoping the spawning location for that spot would be taken away and be more fair.

And why is there a T-Bolt Sniper for one team and not the other? That is seriously bullshit. It's right there where everyone spawns.

This is funny. In the beta it was:

AK - Awesome
Para9 - Awesome (only in the last week)
Gmal - Godly

M9 - Shittiest shit that ever shat.

ND has no idea how to balance anything.

"The Micro is too good!"
*makes Micro worthless*

"The M9 is worthless!"
*makes M9 the best*

ha, this is exactly what happened.

Honestly, if ND would just tweak the weapons and balance them out I think I would be happy and satisfied with the game.

Just leave the M9 as it is, and tweak the AK and MAL. Bringing back the god-mal from the beta and slightly tweaking the ak would make all the weapons pretty much equally good.

I don't know why people think the AK is shit though, it is my go-to weapon. It has better stopping power than the M9 at mid to long range and I'm not having any trouble aiming/gunning people down with the recoil. I just wish they kept the rate of fire upgrade for it from the beta.

Had this happen last plunder match. Guy ended up TK'ing me enough that I was able to kick him. Game. Set. Match.

Yeah, if you played 1 match after the patch your leaderboard stats were reset. Go to the ND forums and laugh at all the kill-farming KDR-whores crying about it.

I love it! Ahhuuahhuahh!!

They still haven't done anything about that shit?! smh

I guess their solution to the "Villains have a major advantage" complaints about Plunder on Ruins was to just switch the bases...

If they wanted the map at least somewhat balanced, the Heroes chest would be over by the Helicopter and the Villains would be over in the graveyard, but noooo... keep the same shitty shit...

Solution could be a 2 round based plunder aswell. Kind of at least lol. Hunter mode has rounds, so it can be done.

So I just saw the "don't fucking aim" video. Is that really what multiplayer has boiled down to, or is it a different story now?
Sometimes, yes. It's not as prevalent as it was at the beginning, but you still find it at an obnoxious rate. Especially in places like the middle tower in Syria, where the RPG spawns next to a treasure chest.

A player with sufficient map knowledge, and something like the KAL-7 can still rip entire teams to shreds, though.

This is what it boils down to for encounters where you are 1-4 feet away from your target. Blindfire + Melee is the core mechanic for super-close range firefights in Uncharted. It is a valid mechanic and makes things more interesting than the simple one-hit melee kills that you find in many other games.

For this to work as a sole strategy though, you need to actually get close to your targets first, which isn't easy against smart/good players. The longer I've gone in the game, the less spray and prayers I see. Just learn the maps, play smart and pick your battles. Engage at the distance that's comfortable for you and you won't have many problems with spray n' prayers unless they sneak up behind you.

Now that I'm playing with people in the same region, I'm doing a lot better. My KDR is about 1 now which is a huge improvement over last week. Had some pretty good Team Objective matches too.

This is a great post. UC3's Spray and melee really reminds of GOW shotgun battles. If you keep your distance you'll hardly ever encounter them. Just as you said the more and more you play the less people seen to be using it. The MP is turning out to be a rather enjoyable experience now.

Powerplays go in this order.

1) Marked Man
2) Exposed
3) Double Damage
4) ???

Anyone ever get a chance to see what is after double damage? Does it go back to marked man? Or is it impossible to get past 3 somehow?

Your enemies liked to play it this way. Hell many CTF matches are played like this on other games too.

Dunno, I've only seen up until DD, even in games where we were steamrolled. I thought there were only 3 powerplays.

I figured there were only 3, cause I have only seen 3. I wonder if its possible to go past 3 though.

Also, FUCK MY BRAIN. Urgghhh. It still doesn't realize that I can throw back grenades. Whenever I see a grenade, it goes into "OMGFUCK ROLL AWAY NAO!!1" mode which works only about 60% of the time. There have countless times where throwing back the grenade was possible. But nooooooo. I can't do that. I have to jump/roll away.
