I guess there's no chance we will get this on PSVR? I'm not even a Half Life fan, but VR is awesome - we just don't have enough super quality games yet.

Because you blindly assume it does, while the reality shows otherwise, and all the people with common sense see what's going on. VR has yet to prove itself as a worthy gaming device, and as of today it failed miserably trying to do so. Maybe this game will finally be it, who knows, but after so many years and so many titles people have all the right to be sceptical/pessymistic.

I blindly assume? I have held a headset since the original Vive, even before that with Gear VR. Right now I own 7 VR Headsets including Vive, Rift CV1, 2 PSVR's, Rift S, Oculus Quest, I own many great VR games and hunger for more. I think I understand how good VR is as a gaming device, more so than you I bet.

I am a sucker for VR, It truly has its hooks in me.

Was it now?

I use mine all the time and I'll be there day one for PSVR 2.0 and hopefully Astrobot 2.

Yes it was. Because you use it all the time doesn't make it less niche for the majority of the gaming community.

Weird since they're ramping up to release new VR headsets for next generation and new games since it already failed.

But YOU are not the equivalent or a judgement point for hundreds of millions of people.

And you are the equivalant of someone who knows nothing about VR and likes to pretend they do. You think Valve is making a Half Life VR game because it think VR is going to fail? You think Sony is going all in with VR because its not selling well on the PS4? What inside information do you know that Valve, Facebook, Sony dont know? Not much is my guess.

No, but what percentage of VR haters own a VR set or even used one for more than 10 minutes?

Sony said that PSVR has passed original expectations. So it clearly didn't fail, otherwise they never would have released it if what they expected it do would be considered a failure.

Did VR replace traditional gaming? No. It never was meant to and it never will. But it does have a growing audience that looks to continue to grow as we move into next gen.

This is a point that VR haters do not understand, I personally do not understand why are people so against someone enjoying something that they themselves do not want. It is obvious there is a market, Sony is not one for pushing tech that fails.

It reeks of jealousy and salt imo.

Sony is. Tell me more about which VR titles have been blockbusters like God of War, the Witcher 3 etc.

wtf is Asgards Wrath

It doesn't even have a wiki page
Do you own a VR headset? Then why would I expect someone who dismisses VR to know anything about what good games are out for the platform. You really wanna know? then LMGTFY but my guess is your not here to learn more about a platform you know little about and more about crying about VR and how you don't want it so why should other people have it.

Naw, I don't own one. I'd expect I wouldn't be able to really live the lifestyle, seeing as I'm not a pretentious, elitist prat.

It still doesn't even have a wiki page.

Game doesn't have a wiki page so is no good, Elitist much?

After reading your comments i'll admit I went in a little hard on replying to your comment, My bad. Yet my comment still stands, some people here dismiss VR without really understanding it or even trying it. Let people who like VR play VR, flat screen gaming is going nowhere.

I wonder if they’ll bring back the original VA for Alyx. I know she’s doing a TV show on Oprah’s network currently. Valve can afford her!

I don't have an issue with VR (I have a headset. And the porn is glorious Reyben Reyben ) I'm just more put out that after a decade plus of radio silence on an unfinished Trilogy were getting a prequel to pimp VR versus a long overdue conclusion.

Excellent news, just hope it works with Oculus.

I'm more interested to see if valve has the development chops anymore. They haven't made any compelling games in a VERY long time, mobas and card games really don't count since story telling doesn't exist there.
The old guard at valve (the people involved with much of the story elements in Half Life) are long since gone, do they have the people to pull off an interesting story in VR without the game being mini game tripe?

It's ok. I don't have anything against VR. I genuinely hadn't heard of the game until I Googled it.

Wow, for someone who isn't a pretentious elitist prat you sure are a piece of shit.

Who are you again? You also don't have a wiki page.

Valve is releasing a Half-Life VR game because they have a huge stake in VR tech. Like many other companies, they wanted to be first-to-market in the VR space, without considering the tech's future viability.

This announcement is horrible news. in my opinion. Probably one of the worst ways to continue the Half-Life saga.
I've set my expectations abysmally low. I imagine Half-Life: Alyx will not actually be the next iteration of Half-Life. The game will likely be on par with Zelda: Zink's Crossbow Training.

Oh come on Valve. We finally get a new Half-Life game and it's vr. Fuck that. Will Valve buy me a new PC, vr set and most importantly, a new house so I have enough space to play vr games?

Reasonable new title for the half life series. There is no way half life 3 can exceed expectations with recent tech. Gaming Physics and AI both have very little improvement since 2005, forcing out half life 3 will simply kill the series. With This they can still sell for 60 and their VR hardware, good profit plus keep expectation in check.

You're most likely right on the money. Just using the name and licence to boost sales of there stuff.
Hey it may even be fun, links crossbow training was decent but no one is gonna pretend it was the next mainline zelda.

This post will not age well. VR is the future. Resident Evil 7 and Astrobot: Rescue Mission on PSVR are hands. down. two of the best video gaming experiences of my entire life. and I've been gaming since the Apple II. Same with Asgard's Wrath on PCVR hardware. Valve would be insane not to leverage next-gen hardware for a new Half-Life game.

Correct me if i'm wrong but hasn't most if not all of the old staff/ writers now gone on the greener pastures?

Don't get me wrong. Any Half Life news gets me up but I wonder what it will actually be like.

It's rumoured to be a 12 - 16 hour single player experience.

Guess, apparently.
I dont ever limit myself to Wikipedia anyway. Youtube(ACG :messenger_heart:), websites, reviews are where I do my research for games im interested in. Do you really only use Wikipedia?

Here, I will help.

Metacritic 88
IGN Review (One hel of a ride)
UploadVR (Asgard’s Wrath Review: VR’s Best And Most Ambitious Game Yet)
RoadtoVR (Asgard’s Wrath’ Review – VR’s Epic Norse Saga of Godlike Proportions)

Then theres this video linked earlier in the thread

Just a quick 2 min google.
